Help with tech question

Hi guys, 

I'm a new player and have been unable to play properly the last couple of days, the / key does not seem to register in game however works completely fine outside of the game, so far my time has consisted of walking around not answering folk like an idiot, any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If it doesn't work you can always copy and paste the / key in-game.
