Miguel "Zippy" Zapatero circa. 2020

Miguel "Zippy" Zapatero is a 22 year old Southern-Hispanic gang member residing in the Culver City area of western Vespucci Beach. Zapatero is said to affiliate with the Project Boys clique of a notorious Sureño street gang that goes by the name Culver City Boys 13. This gang pays homage to the Mexican Mafia and is alleged to be involved in petty drug trafficking, extortion, assault, auto theft, robbery, and murders in the Vespucci area. This gang is considered to be extremely violent and most recently was alleged to be involved in the shooting of Tomas Gomez, a 21 year-old Hispanic man shot dead in the Vespucci Beach area.

Origins - Family History

Bernardo "Clepto" Zapatero, Miguel's father, is a Culver City Boys 13 OG who is currently serving a life sentence in Bolingbroke State Penitentiary for the second-degree murder of Darnell Dautry, a Vespucci Shoreline Crips affiliate. He birthed Miguel with Isabella "Wicked" Vicario, an affiliate of the Slauson Locos clique of the Culver City Boys 13 gang. Isabella was gunned down along Magellan Avenue by two affiliates of the Alsace set of the 18th Street gang, only three months after the birth of Miguel at Del Perro General Hospital.

After the murder of his mother and the arrest of his father only five years later,  Miguel moved in with his uncle Joaquin "Popeye" Zapatero. Joaquin was known as the neighborhood dope dealer for the Winos clique of the gang and the younger Zapatero learned the narcotics game from his uncle at a young age assisting him in the small scale trafficking of cocaine, cannabis and crack in the Bay Avenue area of western Vespucci. The entirety of Miguel's family has been sucked into the gang lifestyle to some extent including Miguel's older sister Reynata "Spooky" Zapatero who was suspected to have been involved in the fatal shooting of LSPD officer Brian Brown during an attempted hit on rival Inglewood 13 gang members until her overdose on prescription pills on September 3rd, 2019. An event Zippy is believed to still be distraught from to this day.

Upbringing

Miguel grew up in and around the various cliques of the Culver City Boys street gang and is familiar with all of them. Miguel's family history essentially made him an honorary member of the gang and he was blessed into the Project Boys clique of the gang, a rare phenomenon where an aspiring street gang member is allowed into the gang without having to go through the gang's initiation. Miguel received this privilege at the young age of thirteen and has been actively banging the gang ever since.

Miguel's primary claim to fame within the street gang is an assault he committed on three rival Shoreline Crip affiliates who he left bloodied and beaten one summer morning at the age of 18. Zapatero fell into the typical gangland vices of marijuana, and liquor at a young age and now uses them to cope with the recent loss of his sister to a drug overdose. He also recently lost his primary source of income within the neighborhood after the arrest of his uncle on drug trafficking charges stemming from his uncle's involvement in a local drug ring organized by senior La Eme statesman Arturo "Tablas" Castellanos.

Rebuilding

Zippy was spotted in and around the City Boys territory affiliating with notable PJBS shotcallers Joshua "Sniffy" Ojeda and Andrew "Midnight" Losa after the incarceration of his uncle. Miguel was suspected to have been in a depressed slump after the murder of Reynata and the arrest of Joaquin. His clique, Project Boys, was falling apart due to gang injunctions and increased pressure from rival gangs. Zapatero became in desperate need of money to support himself and became even more increasingly involved in drug deals, and armed robbery in the Vespucci area. His gang began to slowly expand their drug and firearm related interests through achieving direct connections with Public Enemy Number 1 and the Mexican Mafia through senior Culver City Boys heavyweight Victor "Big Midget" Arroyo. This allowed the gang to push back many of the rival surrounding gangs such as Vespucci 13 and Del Perro 13.

However, several gang related shootings including the shooting of a LSPD gang unit officer by Miguel "Dummy" Coranza, a notable CCB13 affiliate, caused the LSPD to crack down further on the gang. This resulted in the incarceration of several prominent Project Boys affiliates including Gabriel "Houdini" Ramirez, Joshua "Sniffy" Ojeda, Matthew "Insane" Salinas, and even Miguel Zapatero himself. These arrests significantly weakened the clique for a time, but thanks to the efforts of Andrew Losa and Victor Arroyo; The clique was able to maintain it's territory along Melanoma Avenue.

Los Hemelos

Twin Towers County Jail, sometimes referred to as "Los Hemelos" by Spanish inmates, is the county jail for LS county. This is where Miguel Zapatero would spend his two consecutive prison sentences. His first proper incarceration was on firearm and drug trafficking related charges after the LSPD raided his stash-house and discovered a large amount of MDMA along with an AK-47 rifle, and several handguns. While serving his first sentence, Miguel came in direct contact with Border Brothers 22 affiliate Martin "Arana" Cano who was serving his sentence at Twin Towers. Miguel and Martin hit it off developing a brief business relationship on the streets. He also met Leon "Stomper" Ramirez, a prominent Hillside 13 OG, and Josue "Little Bandit" Zelaya who is suspected to be the current keyholder for MS-13 operations in LS. All these connections would serve Miguel well in later years when he returned to the streets.

However while locked up, Miguel was hit with a 2nd Degree Murder warrant for the shooting of Vincent Cala and whisked off back to court. He was eventually found guilty of this murder, but due to infringements of his 5th amendment rights by the LSPD during the investigation. Miguel was given a conditional release with time served. He has only returned to the streets in recent days after these two jail terms and It's unknown what the future holds for Zapatero.

Personality

Miguel Zapatero is a overall chipper individual with a cheery, relaxed demeanor. He has a love for Modelo and old-school cars forged by his father who used to take him to car-shows and let him cruise around in his low-rider at a young age before he was incarcerated. He speaks basic Spanish which he learned from his also now-deceased grandmother, and is slightly overweight. He spends most of his time with fellow gang members hanging out around Bay City & Melanoma Avenue in western Vespucci, and is considered a mentor to younger affiliates coming up in the neighborhood.
