Corporations and a stock exchange index

For both of you, this doesn't work like the real world. It can't. You are not in this stock market to earn your dividends... There's no bonds nothing, the only thing that happens here is very simple. Lets say I want to be a corporation and... I have a nightclub with a pal. Now I can choose to be private and put that nightclub corporation in a private stock. Where no one buys shares or anything.

This stock will just be shares that sometimes they will open and sometimes there will be none because the business does not wissh to expand further. And that is where it will stay. But there might be someone who wishes to epand further and doesn't have the money to do so. In this game stock market the person would open shares and the index would put both into contact and the investor can agree with the owner to add more money to that owner's coorporation.

Does this help in any way? Yes it does because it keeps companies and certain things from dissapearing. One owner might go inactive while the other one stays and develops something. It gives chance to some new players and so on.

Also! put it like this. I'm new and I have my 200,000. I wish to RP an investor. So I find this stock market and browse through the list. I find someone looking for investors and I can purchase some of that stock with my 200k. So I proceed to do that and then I own idk depends how many shares I bought. Now that business has two owners and lets say one leaves, the second investor has the will and is encouraged to keep the business going on and on and on... Or he can sell his stock to someone interested.

Completely agree with this statement. It will bring more Legal RP to the game.

But in my opinion, there needs to be a script to control companies finances( paying dividends to investors  ).

Exactly, that's how stock exchange works. You can't simply say 'I wanna do a stock market' and do it. It's like any market: fruits, water, meat-you can't just do it out of nowhere. It needs rules, it needs admin supervision, script, proper work into it. If you wanna run a stock market on your own, which is total bullcrap, because you can't do it, it's just impossible to do it, then just do it.

I do agree to an extent with you about a script for people to have the plain view of the statistics. The way to make that possible will be a real struggle for any type of developer and expert on the subject. This server has many more things to worry about before making such a move on the way their economy works. The money that will be made here will be basically off speculation instead of value. Some prices will sky rocket due to ignorance of the general population of the server in this topic. Which brings a bubble as I mentioned before. This creating another way of economic growth, and perhaps uncontrollable to an extent, creating changes that the admins will not be in control of. Right now, they have the  power to make minor and simple adjustments if things get out of hand. A stock market will be a difficult pet to handle.  The government is not ready to battle with those economic problems. And I am sure we dont have enough people to make such a drastic move happen in the short to medium run.

I agree with that, that's why I'm against this stock market thing that CH brought up. From his point of view, people just role-play it, passing money one to another, without any actual market changes, so in the end: where is the stock market? A stock market means that the market grows, or not, based on sales, and more factors, that need to be scripted, because I can't trust player X for telling me 'hey man, we had a rough month, so your stocks now worth $0, and no dividends for you'-how can you prove that? YOU CANNOT without a proper system.

Another thing, currently, I believe we would have like 5-10(max) companies ready for a stock market. Any small businesses(bars, dealerships, clubs ,etc.) are out of the discussion because those cannot be on a stock market, since it's impossible for their financial status.

I'd definitely be interested in the idea. Many things to be taken into consideration, but with a good responsible and organized team, it can definitely be done. The LS economy would need to be delicately studied, and accessibility of real statistical data to be released.

It is highly unlikely that we will be able to portray a realistic stock market in GTA World. I can not stress enough how important it is for proper institutions and laws to be enforced as they are in real life, and for good reason. As was  mentioned, government would need to make a branch consisting of people who know the in's and out's of national and company economics, who either work with or study it on an academic level. And even then it will be extremely difficult to control.

In order to even begin to constructing a stock market it would take a massive effort from both developers, economy specialists (Government branch) and not least of all the company owners themselves. There are so many variables to consider that dictates the flow of the market, down to each individual company who realistically need to start bookkeeping if this is to even work, not take a number out of their ass and decide that the value of someones company is several million, an actual value that can be controlled and confirmed so it does not hurt the market right off the bat.

GTA W has a closed economy which has extreme volatile tendencies, this will reflect on the stock market. Everytime something happens, everyone knows about it all at the same time and wants to get in on it, because its fun, because people  are far more decisive in games that in real life. This causes major influx, then,  supply vs demand comes in to the question, the start of every bubble ready to pop. I don't want to experience a stock market crisis every month, and people will get tired of how unstable it most likely will be. This will be a nightmare rather than an exciting feature.

My opinion is, keep things simple and make sure to do the simple things well. I am all for simple stock exchange, we should encourage it. Government should build their institution in a fashion that promotes, encourages it, documenting and enforcing it. But a stock market? It won't be as people imagine it.

I've considered this myself since I joined GTA:W. Took me one discussion with FM and I was told it wouldn't be allowed to be player-based due to it becoming biased, so the script would be necessary. Other than that, I'd like to see that implemented very much, but that would be only few of us, it's a pretty niche thing and you'd be lucky to have at least ten people actively using the said stock market.

I'll have to agree with what you're saying, for the most part. Giving the fact that this is a closed economy, things can turn pretty ugly and pretty often, and people valuing their assest properly could be done through GOV instead of the business owners themselves.

I'm not even completely sure this can actually work on a game since there are a lot things to consider, from the law side to the fact that people will probably find things to do so they don't lose a dime on the market.

You're completely right. This economy is pretty small compared to a real market. Adapatations would need to be made, and for that we need experts and professionals. Minor movements would affect the economy of the city tremendously and without control.
