Flying a helicopter

I'd argue that's completely unrealistic for a helicopter, to even take off like that. But the overall general rules are fly like you would in a realistic environment, most flying issues can be taken IC and punishments can be given out IC.

This is the kind of behavior we will never allow on the server, for it defeats a lot of aspects of realistic roleplay. Not only would landing and taking off in a location like that be extremely hard for an average pilot to pull off, the helicopter would also stand out like a sore tooth if parked over there realistically. One also has to realize that a helicopter realistically takes way longer to start up and prepare for flight than what is seen here, an aspect of roleplay we do take into account.

TL-DR: If you think this would even be remotely realistic you may want to hold off on roleplaying with aircraft.

I want to add onto this. Not only has that helicopter taken off stupidly fast, it has completely failed to contact ATC in regards to takeoff meaning that if it continued to fly without identifying itself to the ATC it would be declared a rogue aircraft, something which is intercepted by the US military and escorted to an airstrip by fighter jets. On top of that for that helicopter to be landed beneath that bridge it would already be violating FAA regulations and the local ATC would have picked up on it vanishing from radar/failing to arrive at it's plotted destination. Maneuvers like this belong in action movies and servers that serve to fulfill peoples need for a cops and robbers situation. GTAW is not a server that condones blatantly unrealistic actions such as this, outside of reason of course.

An absurd location for a helicopter to both land and take off from. Not even expert pilots would ever consider that safe and acceptable in real life.

I say in this instance, it is a violation of GTA W roleplay standards and thus an admin issue.

But in regards to general negligence like flying low over the city or roads (not as extreme as flying a meter close to bridges) is an IC issue for law enforcement agencies. As such things can be deemed safe enough by a reasonably sane pilot.

Otherwise, as a law abiding citizen my character would never consider landing anywhere else than on the airport, dedicated helicopter pads or BIG flat open surfaces outside the city.

Anything else is an IC violation of law, or if the line is crossed, a violation of server rules.

If an aircraft was to take off inside of a controlled airspace, ATC would try to contact it, however it wouldn't be declared "rogue" nor would fighter jets be scrambled to chase it down.  It would be tracked via radar and probably someone sent to investigate why they didn't contact the appropriate controllers.  Once I was flying irl and was in contact with regional atc, they gave me a direction to fly and then released me from their services.  The direction they gave flew me very close to Atlanta's busiest airport.  When I landed there was only a phone call from the airport controller's supervisor.  They didn't know I had been talking to regional controllers so I was in their airspace with no radio contact.  There was no "rogue" aircraft, no jets, nothing like that.  There are restricted areas on the charts that might get you escorted by military, like in Los Alamos, New Mexico, but escorts  wouldn't  happen from only a lack of radio comms.

In the case of actively being chased by the police things would be different, obviously.

The laws regarding flying low are 1000 ft above the highest obstacle within 2000 ft radius in congested areas.  This means cities.  The laws outside of congested areas are 500ft away from people or property.

I do agree that the flying in the video was a bit much and definitely not realistic.

Hey ?

I know quite a bit about helicopter flying in real life, a chopper like this would easily take 5-6 minutes to start if you were in a rush.

The RPM slowly rises over a few minutes so you couldn’t just take off like that , also due to him being under a bridge there is a good chance the chopper would flip upside down.

There is something called Vortex Ring State this is where the air pushed from the blades would head downwards and if you are descending fast you will hit the downward air and it would send you flying down at a much quicker speed , this is why helicopter have to descend quite slowly,

however in this case there is a surface close above the helicopter so the air would reflect off of that and then back down on the helicopter this would cause a very dangerous situation and could make the helicopter rotate upside down or hit into the surface , a very skilled pilot maybe able to manoeuvre out of the Bad air quickly, but landing there would be a much harder task
