People who need to know if they are activated or not have access to them. 

You must roleplay pressing it, so you would obviously see it, if your character is in such a position of course.

Real life setups allow for alarms to be triggered by the user falling or rapidly decelerating, or even not moving for X period. You wear them on your vest or belt.

 

They're a huge thing in private security, have been for a long time, although they don't always come with localisation. If you down a security guard or a cop, it should be common sense to assume that their agency finds that out quickly.
