The Hoover Criminal Gangs originated as an African American street gang located on the West Side of South Los Santos, San Andreas. They are named after a street called Hoover Street, between Vermont Ave and Figueroa St. The Hoovers consist of several individual street gangs stretching from 52nd Street to 112th Street, under the Hoover Criminal Gang moniker.

They are known to sport apparel of the Houston Astros, a major league baseball team with orange as a dominant uniform color, which inspired the Hoover Criminals to choose orange as their identifying color. They also sport Houstron Astro ball caps, fot the large ''H'' to represent Hoover. The 52 Hoover Gangster Crips are the only Hoover set to still bang Crip.

Hoover Groovers

The Hoover Criminal Gangs originated in the 1960s and were originally known as the Hoover Groovers. The Hoover Groovers, have been around long before the formation of the Crips. One of the founding members of the Hoover Groovers, younger brother was murdered and the majority of the accusations were blamed on the West Side Crips.

The Hoover Groovers and the West Side Crips held a meeting at the Saint Andrews Recreation Center (Park). Both gangs eventually formed an alliance and blamed the Figueroa Boys for being responsible for the death, which resulted in the leader of the Figueroa Boys being violently beaten at a nightclub in LS.

By the mid 1970s, due to their alliance with the West Side Crips, the Hoovers dropped the ''Groovers'' from their name and adopted the Crips (Hoover Crips). By 1979, when the feud between the Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips and the Eight Tray Gangster Crips started, gangs started pleading alliance to either the Rollin 60s Crips or the Eight Trays. Gangs who aligned themselves with the Rollin 60s adopted the Neighborhood Crips, also known as the Deuces or Deuce Gang's (2x). Gangs who aligned themselves with the Eight Tray Gangster Crips adapted the ''Gangster Crips'', also known as the Trays or Tray Gang's (3x). The Hoovers fell under the Gangster Crips card, ''Hoover Gangster Crips.''

On August 1979, a reputable member and the founder of the East Side Crips was murdered in a drive-by shooting. Rumors of the shooters spread throughout the streets of Los Santos. The East Side Crips placed the blame and held the Hoover Crips responsible for the murder, sparking a bitter feud between the Hoover Crips and the East Side Crips.

Hoover Criminal Gang

oldskool.jpgBy the 1980s, during the Crack epidemic in the South Central region of Los Santos, San Andreas, the Hoover Gangster Crips became one of the most notorious street gangs to participate in the drug world. Ricky ''Freeway'' Ross (drug-lord) was affiliated with the Hoover Crips. By the mid 1980s, the Hoovers were one of the most feared street gangs in South Central, LS. Their brutal reputation for gun violence made them one of the first suspects to be blamed for gang-related shootings. By the late 1980s, the Hoovers were engaged in bitter rivalries with several Crip gangs.

From Crips to Criminals By the 1990s, the Hoovers renounced Crips and decided to change their name, by replacing Crips with Criminals. They claim ''ABK'' or ''EBK'' which stands for Anybody Killer or Everybody Killer. It was common to see ''BK'' (Blood Killer) aswell as ''CK'' (Crip Killer) and ''OK'' (Rollin 0's), spray painted on the walls within their territory.

Allies and Rivals

hcg4__1_.jpg

The 83 Hoover Criminals are allies of all other Hoover sets and are cool with some Gangster Crip sets, such as the 83 Gangster Crips and the 51 Trouble Gangster Crips. Their main ally outside of the Hoover Criminals, were the Main Street Mafia Crips. However, in 2009, their alliance ended on bad terms at a house party thrown by the Main Street’s, who invited the Hoover Criminals. Allegedly, the Hoover Criminals and the Main Street Crips, got into a confutation, followed by gunfire.

The 83 Hoovers have waged war on all Main Street Mafia Crips, East Coast Crips, Rollin 100s Neighborhood Crips, Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips, Rollin 90s Neighborhood Crips, Raymond Avenue Crips, Rollin 90s West Coast Crips (defunct), 87 Gangster Crips, 97 Gangster Crips, 98 Gangster Crips, 65 Menlo Neighborhood Crips, 67 Neighborhood Crips, Denver Lane Gangster Bloods, South Los 13 and all other Neighborhood Crip gangs. With their history and roots as a Crip gang, the 83 Hoovers are natural rivals of all Bloods, altough their beefs with the Neighborhood Crips are much more intense than any Blood rivalry.

Despite their large list of enemies, the 83 Hoovers dominate their neighborhood through their sheer numbers plus their reputation for brutality and terror.
