GTAW-Roleplay 1.0 Reveal

Introduction - GTAW 1.0

 

We've now been released for 18 days, and while we already pushed many updates and changes thanks to your suggestions, we will keep going faster with new content !

The recruitment of new developers is still ongoing and while the new people we've been training are starting to do some great work too ! 

 

As you noticed, the UCP is improving everyday thanks to @Justus and @Duco's work. @andreiwow2 also recently joined them and made the wonderful mobile UCP along with a status page ! https://status.gta.world/

@JoeWarner also developed https://face.gta.world/ and is working on an exciting new feature for the UCP, that will be introduced in this devblog.

 

On the gamemode side, @St3fan[NL] made an awesome work on the MDC, while @CodenameTim worked hard with us at release to fix bugs, optimize the gamemode, and release the new vehicle system along with the driving license examination ! We're sad to see him leave us but he'll come back once he has more time to dedicate ! Thanks again Tim for all the hard work and the help.

 

A team of 6 junior developers recently joined us, and we'll keep recruiting new developers to improve the server quality and content, so If you're interested feel free to apply to join us.

 

Now let's jump to the most important, I'm sure you all want to know about the upcoming updates whose release target is for GTAW 1.0 that is due before the end of 2017. However, as on GTAW we like to provide you with multiple update and new content each weeks, we'll add all these features one by one instead of making you wait months for it. So you can already expect some of these features this week !

 

 

 

Power to the players

We'll be introducing a Power to the players feature via the UCP, if you're familiar with games such as OSRS you know how vital community voting and democracy is, this feature will allow you to vote via the UCP on big and game changing updates, rule changes and so forth, it will give you a say in the future of the server and put us community first and more transparent. This will be launching the following weeks after this announcement, more updates to come.

 

Trucking job

A new trucking job will soon be deployed with different tasks and payments depending of your trucking expertise. Truckers will now also have a purpose in the economy, as they will be used to move large amount of resources between companies, gas, or components for the component factory !

But that's not all, we're also adding new trucks and a trailer shop, allowing you to use trailer for your trucks which will improve your vehicle inventory.

Gas stations will run out of gas for example after a while, and gas tankers will need to refill them on a regular basis !

 

Sea fishing

As the current fishing job is too limited, you'll soon be able to buy an icebox and a boat, to go fish with it !

Your fishing skill will increase depending of the fishes you catch and how often you do the job, allowing you to catch bigger fishes and thus earn more money !

As this feature is still in its early stage of development, feel free to push interesting suggestions about it on our forum !

 

Car chopshop

Car theft will be soon introduced with our new theft system, allowing players to deliver their stolen cars to player owned chopshops:

-The owner will set a list of cars he's buying, with a price for each.

-Players will be able to go rob these cars once they get informed and sell it to the owner.

-The owner will be able to disassemble the car and get components from it, that will be sold to car garages owners, or to mod cars !

As for the stolen car, we're still thinking about few possible solutions: temporarily disable it from the game for the car owner, or require the victim to go fix his car at a garage shop... We'll need to definitely add some limitations and protections to avoid players from seeing their cars stolen and disabled all the time, feel free to suggest ideas in our suggestions forum !

 

 

House robbery

The system of house robbery is still in its early stage on our test server, so expect animations and objects to change ! But you'll be able to break into houses and steal items / furniture. The goal is to replace the current furniture system by a furniture shop ran by players, that will be able to buy from an official furniture supplier or stolen furniture from players.

All players would have to go buy specific furniture to a shop and bring it back to their house, where It'll be permanently unlocked for the house.

 

Money transport

The job will be limited to specific legal factions, and will be introduced with the ATMs. The players will have to transfer money from banks to the different ATMs in the city. A police escort might be requested for their protection.

As all factions are running on a budget, losing a money truck would mean an important loss for the victim faction.

 

 

Advanced prison system

The SADOC faction is currently being prepared, and actively looking for players. Feel free to contact @Hemmax !

Once jailed, a player will have to spend few days offline or online in the prison, allowing him to fully experience the prison roleplay experience If he wishes to.

Prison interiors are being prepared by our head of property @Missi, and the SADOC script is being started at the same time to finish all this as soon as possible.

 

Tattoo shop (Now available!)

You've all been asking for it, waiting for it.. It is coming ! And It might be one of the first feature to arrive from this devblog ! The tattoo shop will allow you to fully customize your character with tattoos. You'll be able to lease or buy one, and It'll work similar to clothing shops.

 

This feature will be available this week on GTAW.

 

Graffiti system

More work for the gangs ! A graffiti system is also on its way and only needs few modifications and limitations to be added. You will be able to spray all walls, there will be no specific graffiti spots. However once again we're thinking about some limitations to avoid a flood of graffiti (maybe a minimum distance between 2 graffiti, and a limitation per player), once again feel free to bring up suggestions !

 

Vehicle garages

Vehicle garages are now fully working, and will be linked to their master house. Once you buy the house, the garage will directly be owned by you, and you will be able to modify the interior and customize it with furniture !

 

Property & Territory map (Now available!)

A dynamic map is being developed, showing all available properties for sale and rent ! You'll be able to directly find the house of your dreams from the UCP and ingame !

As you can notice, this map will also be used to show faction territories, an annoucement will be made by the faction management during the month about how to claim a territory for your faction.

 

Dynamic house furniture

The XM Radio is the current example of a house dynamic item: A script is attached to it, and you can listen to music with your friends after placing it.

More objects with a specific script are coming, such as a TV to watch news or videos, money safes, fridges...

 

Mapping / Police Roadblocks

We're finishing our system to allow furnitures to be part of the outside world, and permanently placed ! Selected mappers can already start working on mapping projects and we'll also soon implement the roadblock system for the police department.

This system will be similar to our mapping system, as cops will be able to place roadblocks or various other objects (cones, tolls etc..) permanently or temporary.

 

 

Empty interiors (Now available!)

The empty interiors are finally coming live and will be available for all players through the interior change request !

You will be able to fully furnish it and create your own custom house or business, as this interior will not only be limited to houses !

 

This feature will be available this week on GTAW.

 

Advanced social features (Now available!)

 

 

@Doakes has been working on advanced social features, allowing you to set custom:

  • Moods
  • Chat style
  • Walking style

The system will be integrated in your personal menu, and allow you to make your character feel really alive! 

The moods and walking style must be credited to @rootcause from GTMP who released such resources few weeks back and gave us the idea to take it further !

 

This feature will be available this week on GTAW.

 

Money laundering / New money system

This is the last feature that will be introduced in this gamemode, and definitely the one that is coming soon too. It's also the most exciting feature I ever had to work on, as It'll bring the financial roleplay to a standard that was never reached before.

This feature comes from a suggestion of @AVRO DANKASTER with who we've been working a lot to develop it:

 

Money cycles

 

Green cycles

Cycle number one is the “GREEN” banking system which contains personal, business and government bank accounts. All private & corporate deposits are guaranteed by the FDIC, effectively making those accounts impervious to unnatural fluctuations of the market, not to mention that they are physically secure. Use of cards and cheques as the instruments of your wealth makes it a somewhat convenient day-to-day solution, however, cards and cheques cannot be used everywhere. Moreover, each transaction within the system is registered. Finally, cash deposits over $5,000 will be reported, your account will be affected by the standard rate of taxation, and your “GREEN” value is going to be added into the calculation for the luxury tax.

 

Gray cycles

Cycle number two is the “GRAY” hand-to-hand cash system in which money is an item on your person just like a weapon, drugs, or any other tangible entity. Having cash on you is by far the most convenient solution as it allows you to handle transactions anywhere and leaves virtually no paper trail as far as the player to player interactions go. The cash in your possession does not fall under the regular banking system taxation either. That said, large amounts of cash that go unreported, sudden, unexplainable surges of asset value to your name or any other inconsistencies in your personal finances could potentially lead to a tax evasion investigation being launched against you. Another drawback is that any cash that you have on you is up for grabs – be that a police seizure, burglary or a plain robbery. To complete the cycle, cash on hand will be limited, with vehicles and properties having separate cash storage possibilities.

 

Cash registers

 

Any business will have a cash register furniture item. That means even the smallest, home-ran businesses can have a cash register and make full use of the script.

Cash Register works as a temporary box for the cash flowing in and out of the business during the working day, with each transaction being recorded within the internal ledger. Payments by cash, by card, all on the record.

 

Every business will have a separate bank account assigned to it with the owner as the master administrator of the account, potentially including an option to authorize other people to use the account.

At the end of the working period, you close the register for the day and automatically transfer the funds to the business bank account  that amount will be taxed and, in essence, ready for you to be moved wherever you need it to go.

 

In effect, the money can circulate within either “GREY” or “GREEN” part of the system, “GREY” being the no-tax, cash only transactions and physical money storage, and “GREEN” being the recorded and taxed money that’s within the banking system. Businesses are the most effective conduits for the money to go from GREY to GREEN, with direct deposits as an alternative way of introducing the money to the “GREEN” part. Of course, there will be questions should you start depositing money source of which you can not prove.

 

Cash register theft

Given the ledger shows whether the sum was paid in by card or by cash, the cash register will have a current cash balance option within the script that will allow players to rob it.

 

Money laundering & investigations

Owners of these cash registers will be able to launder money by faking sales of items, and register fake transactions. The police will be able to access all these transactions logs to investigate on a potential fraud, or to make sure that the business income matches its expenses and the owner's wealth.

 

GTAW-Roleplay API (Now available!)

 

As the development team is growing faster and faster, we have lot of motivated people who wishes to help us and develop features, yet we still could not share the source code of the gamemode for obvious security reasons.

 

These limitations leads to known problems that we all experienced on other communities: a 3rd party or junior developer creates an awesome feature, but it takes months to integrate in the server's gamemode.

 

To prevent such problem to happen here, we'll be distributing a GTAW API, allowing developers to directly use our gamemode functions without having access to its code. A development guide will also be shared with the motivated developers, in order to introduce them to our functions and gamemode.
