The following reads a press statement issued by the Independent Press Standards Authority. This has no relation to any media companies.

Over the past few weeks, many avid readers may have seen the following image on articles, most notably published by Saints News - but what is it, what is the aim of it and why do we need it?

The Independent Press Standards Authority, or commonly referred to as IPSA, is a self-regulatory process by members of the media, including representation from Saints News and SARR (Formerly known as R&R), the regulation exists to act as a way for consumers to trust the media they consume, and to trust the methods that go behind a story, like how stories are funded, whether directly or indirectly, through advertising, for example. Currently, IPSA is composed of six journalists from two media companies, with invitations extended to others in the field to join if they so wish.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Independent Press Standards Authority, referred to as ‘IPSA’ or ‘Press Standards Authority’ hereon in is simple - self-regulated standards in an attempt to bring media in a fairer, more transparent format to the people of Los Santos. While the industry has been relatively free to act however it wishes, free from any governmental oversight or regulation, the people have a right to know the media that they’re consuming, and that is the aim of this organisation.

Every journalist seeking to receive accreditation does so separately following a vote from our members, all our members are completely equal, with one member, voted by the rest of the membership, runs the schedule of the meetings. All of our policies and decisions are made democratically by the society and the minutes from these will be open to the public.

Our eventual aim is to bring higher levels of public trust into the world of the media in regards to the populace of San Andreas and beyond. We believe the press works better when it is free, but conscious of its own responsibility to be fair, while we reject direct intervention from government organisations in regards to the media, we will be working alongside them to provide a better future for the media.

Thank you, and let’s bring a new era of news together.

Independent Press Standards Authority,

Kalani Jamil

Founder

The full edition may be found here, and republications may be made in the future, but of course, these changes will be communicated with you.

We hope we can bring together a safer, fairer and more open media.

The Independent Press Standards Authority.
