Faction Theme (Simplified): Voodoo-oriented, consisting of Caribbeans, West-Africans, and the occasional ethnic outsider that is a firm believer in Voodoo (I.E. A Caucasian from New Orleans)

Primary Colours: White & Purple [w/ some black]

Faction History (Outside of Los Santos): The Voodoo Mafia stems from a combination of West-African and Caribbean lower-income working-class and unemployed migrants that entered The United States of America as a means towards either escaping war (with either the state or other tribes) or seeking an improved standard of living in-between the 1960s and the 19990s. However, they did not only arrive with their bodies, but with their superstition. Many of these migrants were practitioners of a religion known as “Voodoo” (Vodoun, Vadun, Hoodoo etc…). The Voodoo religion is a belief system that involves conversing and worshiping lesser-spirits, known as “Loas” or “Lwa”, as the “middleman” or “messengers” to the monotheistic supreme deity of “Olorun” (Ohoun, Olohoun, and even Bondye). In other terms, these spirits (referred to as Loas/Lwa), which exist in many different forms, deliver messages in-between human beings and the supreme Godhead, acting as the “middle-man” between humans and God. Thus, many of these migrants would be worshipping and connecting with “Loas/Lwa” in order to converse with the supreme deity.

Overtime, a few of these migrants would develop small temples dedicated towards the Voodoo religion, uniting vast amounts of these Voodoo-worshipping migrant workers into one major institution, via “The Temple of Juju”. Generally, these temples were more prominent within Louisiana and Florida, slowly expanding throughout the United States of America. Of course, at this time, The Voodoo Mafia did not exist, as it was only a collective community of Voodoo worshippers conducting rituals with one another. However, after the years, the Voodoo Mafia was formed in 1988 by “The Grand Bawon, Emmanuel Samedi”, a wealthy Houngan (Voodoo Priest) from New Orleans that had powerful connections with drug cartels within Haiti. He began to recruit lower-income families within South-Eastern United States of America into the organization in order to increase their economic power within the region, specifically involving them in the narcotics industry. Overtime, a good portion these agricultural labourers would transition into full-time narcotics traffickers, transporting cocaine, marijuana, L.S.D., and heroin from the Caribbean to The United States of America. Eventually, a few West-African members had managed to attain connections from West-African crime-rings, transporting Soviet-based firearms from the African continent to The United States of America. Thus, by 1991, The Voodoo Mafia had managed to attain a powerful grasp on the narcotics and arms industry, with their main headquarters within “The Temple of Juju” in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was time for the organization to expand beyond the limitations of Louisiana and Florida, resulting in a few members forming their stronghold within Los Santos, San Andreas.

Faction History (Within Los Santos): Migrating members were granted with the ability to attain the status of “Bawon” (Baron), providing them with the ability to form their own crime family within their migrated regions. Thus, when Jean-Marc Mouri had migrated to Los Santos from Haiti, he was granted with the ability to function as “The Bawon of Los Santos”, ensuring that The Voodoo Mafia could expand within San Andreas. Bawon Jean-Marc Mouri had founded “The House of Voodoo, which is a temple for the practitioners of Voodoo, along Chumash. It functioned as both a front for The Voodoo Mafia and a “private” ritualistic house for worshipers of the religion.

The Grand Bawon, Emmanuel Samedi, had sent an orphaned woman from Liberty City to Los Santos in order to be protected under the wing of Bawon Mouri, causing Bawon Mouri to function as her Father in-Law.

OOC INFORMATION

Theme (Detailed): The Voodoo Mafia primarily consists of Caribbean and West-African migrants or U.S. citizens that practice and worship the Voodoo religion. However, ethnic outsiders are accepted as long as they display their full-scale dedication towards the Voodoo religion.

The Mafia desires to remain extremely covert with their existence, as they desire to only market themselves as a “Religious organization for self-development and spiritual growth” rather than a mafia.

Generally, it is a very formal-dressing organization, composing of individuals dressed in “dress-clothes” of white and purple [w/ some black]. Otherwise, lower-ranking members may be equipped in “casual” clothes, even to the extent that they resemble a stereotypical African gang member in the hood.

Their primary supply of income involves distributing cocaine, heroin, and marijuana within the streets of Los Santos. However, their primary advantage is a synthetic narcotic substance known as “Loa Dust”, a powder-like substance that combines cocaine with DMT and LSD, causing consumers to undergo incredible hallucinatory visions.

Their objective involves “Uplifting the Minds and Developing the Spiritual Growth of the citizens of Los Santos” by connecting them to the spiritual world through rituals, tarot readings, and lessons within either “The House of Voodoo” or the “Street”. They believe that the “Lwa/Loa Dust” and “Loa/Lwa Plant” connects the people to the spiritual world, providing them with easier access to the Loas that converse with the supreme deity, Bondye (Ohoun/Olorun etc…). Thus, their engagement within the narcotics industry is not purely for profit, as they believe that consuming and distributing these substances heightens the masses connection to the spiritual world. As Bawon Mouri would state “It’s bad in the Gova’ments eyes, but it’s good in the eyes a’ Bondye!”. Thus, their MAIN criminal element involves distributing an illegal, synthetic, and hallucinatory substance that has been known to disconnect people from the physical world, nearly comparable to Shrooms or L.S.D.

In regards to their relations with other illegal factions within the city, their concept revolves around “Words are more effective than guns” and “Cooperation, not Confrontation”. The mafia would prefer to unite the sets under their wing, rather than to conduct wars with every gang and mob that exists within the city. Specifically, their target market revolves around uplifting the minds and spiritual growth of the gangs and sets within the lower-income communities of Los Santos, forming mutual pacts and agreements as a means towards marketing the “Lwa/Loa Dust” and “Lwa/Loa Plant” in a peaceful manner.

Violent crimes shall be very uncommon, often referred to as “A last resort under the Loas/Lwas guidance”, considering that the mafia would prefer to cooperate with the masses rather than to “harm” them [even though they’re being harmed by their superstition]. Then again, despite it’s disapproval, it does not prevent lower-ranking members from conducting random acts of violence, as long as they understand that the upper-ranking members will punish them for their actions. I.E. An intoxicated level 1 member starts a fight with a few people in a bar, resulting in being neglected the ability to attain any Loa Dust for a week, while undergoing strict cleansing rituals to eliminate those habits from their lives.

On a superstitious level, the mafia engages in monthly collective Voodoo rituals, which may consist of different practices depending on the Lwa that is worshipped. Each Lwa possesses their own unique characteristics, causing each ritual to be practiced differently. Mass-rituals could exist within “The House of Voodoo” or within a location that heavily symbolizes the Loa/Lwa that is being worshipped.

Rank Descriptions:

1.      The Grand Bawon: Translated as “The Grand Baron”. The rank is unattainable, as it was claimed by “The Grand Bawon, Emmanuel Samedi” as the founder of The Voodoo Mafia within New Orleans (and the remainder of the U.S.). He is the head-leader of the organization. Thus, within Los Santos, the leader of the organization within San Andreas shall be simply “Bawon, Jean-Marc Mouri”.

2.      Bawon: Translated as “Baron”. The rank is currently unattainable since it represents the REGIONAL leader of The Voodoo Mafia. In this case, it is claimed by “Bawon, Jean-Marc Mouri” within San Andreas. The Bawon could be replaced if the leader either resigns or is executed.

3.      Hougans/Mambos: Translated as “Priest” in Haitian-Creole. “Hougan” is a male priest while “Mambo” is a female priest. These members are miniscule in size, as they are carefully selected and appointed by the Bawon to function as his “Right-hand” and “Left-hand” associates.

4.      The Grand Lwa/Loa: Translated as “The Grand/Greater Spirit”. These ranks are available to those that are willing to function as “Officers” of the mafia within San Andreas, which is often earned by attaining the trust of the Bawon through hard work and loyalty.

Jean-Marc Mouri, known as "Bawon Mouri", manages to initiate a deal within the second in-command member of "Barrio Azteca Teces" in regards to attaining firearms to "protect his unofficial religious institution".

In order to have a faction you need to go through the correct process of applying for one. Not just circumvent the system by putting up a screenshots gallery thread.
