Three Women, Three Perspectives

Feminism, Revenge Porn And You

Women play a vital role in our society in Los Santos, with many of them being in top positions in companies in all sorts of industries in the city, with Kalani Jamil (Saints News), Irelia Podhajna (Weazel News) and Emilia Russo (R&R) dominating the press game, to Julia Huddleston being the woman behind Bahama Mamas, Lana Vandy behind her own consultancy firm, Kaylee Keeton with her SingleFlash Photography, Isabella Roberts with her Crucial Fix and the company SecuroServ, again, headed by a woman, the role that women play in Los Santos is an endless list. Just 5% of companies in the S&P 500 Index are headed by women, however, Los Santos paints a different light - many more women are in the top jobs in Los Santos compared to almost anywhere else in the world.

The age-old question that has plagued women for generations has again popped up - is it enough?

We spoke to three influential women in Los Santos to see their views on womanhood, success and 'revenge porn' (which has become a very contentious subject on social media itself), to see what their thoughts are, together, we seek to find something that resembles an answer.

Definitions:

Revenge Porn: revealing or sexually explicit images or videos of a person posted on the Internet, typically by a former sexual partner, without the consent of the subject and in order to cause them distress or embarrassment. (Source: Google)

Nudes: a naked human figure, typically as the subject of a painting, sculpture, or photograph. (Source: Google)

WARNING: This article contains strong language and sensitive subjects.

Lana Vandy

Lana Vandy is the COO of Vinewood Business and Financial Advisors. A woman whose rise to fame was miraculous in Los Santos, we begin with her and her views on the cities' attitudes towards women.

So, as a notable woman in business in Los Santos, you're quite often surrounded by men, have you ever faced discrimination because of your gender?

Oh yes, definitely no doubt. I actually made a major switch from being a trader in London to be a model across Europe. I ended up moving to Los Santos for a modelling gig. Often I do have people doubt my credentials based on my looks, even though I know what I am talking about and am a highly qualified person.

Could you give some examples?

I remember walking to a meeting and having someone I know asking me why I was dressed in my suit and that I needed to show some more skin. On top of that as well, I briefly came out of retirement from modelling to take some photos for an up and coming business. The owner was talking to a man there about his financials and automatically assumed I didn’t know anything or it was “male talk” because I am an attractive woman.

You were once accused of being a 'Gold Digger', could you tell us any more about that?

No comment - When I came to the city, I wanted to find an intelligent man who could make as much money as I can, sorry broke guys.

Revenge Porn, illegal in many countries and even states, most notably your birth country of the United Kingdom, what are your thoughts surrounding the legality of it in Los Santos? Whether you send 'nudes' to people or not, do you feel comfortable the risk that your friends could be 'exposed' in an argument?

Wow. That is legal? That is disgusting. People send photos of themselves to ones that they trust. Exposing those is breaking that trust and is [sic] volatile.

So you'd be open to pressuring government officials to change the law?

Yes, I no doubt would. 'Nudes' are sent to someone privately!

Kaylee Keeton

Kaylee Keeton is the owner of the popular photography business, SingleFlash Photography. she does not regard herself as a feminist, however, she is also not opposed to them. We spoke to her regarding her opinions to provide a more balanced argument to this article.

So, you're quite outspoken in the fact that you're not a feminist, could you go into a little more detail about why?

Well, first, I don't like labels, I don't need an honour badge just cause I believe in an ideology. I'm not against feminism nor I'm with it. For me, feminism is only needed when there is a clear gap between men and women. Like forbidding women to access certain professions, make some professions only accessible to women. Forbidding women to have their own bank accounts, forbidding women the right to vote, et cetera, So like I'm not with it nor I'm against it if you get me.

So have you ever been looked down upon because of your gender, in your profession or otherwise?

Well I was dating a biker for a while I suppose you can say that his biker friends were looking down on me cause of my gender, it appeared like they treated women more like property rather than a friend or a loved one. In regards to my profession, no, as of this far no one has dared to say I can't be a photographer cause I'm a woman.

You're known to some for your disagreements with other women, those who are feminists and Pro-LGBT, could you tell us any more about that?

Like I said I'm not against feminism nor am I with it, you are welcome to be who you wanna be as long as you don't do it for attention from others. Same goes in regards of the lesbian community be what you wanna be just don't claim to be a lesbian just to get some extra likes on your pictures.

Do you think revenge porn should be illegal? As of the conducting of this interview, It's currently legal in Los Santos.

In regards to revenge porn, I feel like yeah it should be probably made illegal cause Los Santos is filled with the silly girls who send nudes of themselves or allow their partners to take some of them. It's 2019, by now girls should know that, no matter what, if you share such explicit pictures with anyone you are taking a risk eventually no matter what those things get leaked.

Isabella Roberts

To conclude this article, we interviewed Isabella Roberts, a controversial figure in the eyes of some, that hasn't stopped her from making a success of her cafe, the Crucial Fix, Isabella was recently threatened by an old friend to have her 'nudes' exposed over an argument on the social media platform, FaceBrowser.

First of all, how have you seen attitudes about women in Los Santos? Positive/Negative?

Negative - Well, what do you want to know about exactly? There's loads of negative shit going around. For example how men are seen as cool when they cheat and sleep around with multiple women, but when a woman does it - she's labelled as a slut and becomes a punching bag on the internet.

So personally, how have negative attitudes towards women affected you?

Do you really have to ask that? I keep getting rumours spread around about me, how I sleep around with men and shit. As you already know, after Keinan's jerk move (Keinan has been accused of threatening to expose Isabella's nudes via FaceBrowser following an argument) - my life is completely ruined. Multiple people have my nudes, I keep getting people to come up to me in person and just... act overly sexual and shit. My business will probably make zero in profits when I open it again. Just... everything is fucked for me.

Revenge porn, as you know, is legal in Los Santos, what would you say to lawmakers if given the opportunity?

Defamation of character is still a civil issue, but uh, yeah, I would love for the lawmakers to actually consult each other around this law. My life is now completely ruined, because of Keinan and the posts he has revealed on FaceBrowser, If Sara, Lana or anyone with a weaker mindset would have gone through this, Keinan, or anyone else, could have easily killed them. I know from experience the depression that comes after everyone starts harassing you over that drama stuff. Sorry, I'm shit at explaining stuff.

So there you have it, Los Santos. Now it's your turn, tell us what you think of the concerns we raised with our three guests, do you agree, do you disagree? Or perhaps you want to expand on a point they made? Let us know in the comment section below.

As of the publication of this article, 'Revenge Porn' remains legal in Los Santos, we were not able to get a comment from government officials at this time.

Comment: Good questions, poor answers... even poorer choice to interview a girl who is "...shit at explaining stuff."

We chose her to interview due to her close association with the topics at hand. Thank you for your feedback!

Comment: Who are these people? I thought this article was about influential women.

As stated, these women have close associations with the topic at hand. In future, we will seek to include a broader range of people in our social articles. Thanks for your feedback!

Comment: Whilst a good piece of writing, would it not be more sensitive to the topic at hand to release said story without 3 advertisements? Since its quite a dark topic to raise on the harassment of women, I feel like advertisements lessen its impact.
