Humble beginnings, and the arduous history of the journey of Chinese immigrants to the U.S.

The Yee Hing Tong is a 'predominantly' legal organisation - at least from an outside in perspective. Its headquarters on the Western United States lies in Los Santos, in the Yee Hing Building itself. Its main goal is to ensure the safety of the Asian community within Little Seoul, and as a whole Los Santos. Its history deeply rooted with early immigrants from Guangzhou and Cantonese speaking provinces in China to the U.S. The building itself was established in the late 1800s when Los Santos was but nothing more than a hub for workers and those who wished to seek riches during the gold rush which saw mass droves of immigration from the orient. In more recent years however, from the 1940s up until the present day - many immigrants from mainland China and places such as Hong Kong and Macau have found their way into the city, in particular the Asian exclave of Little Seoul is noted for its high population of Asian ethnicities and it is now known today for its diverse Asian-American culture with residents living in harmony. This particular tong in Los Santos remains one of the most influential buildings in the city amongst the Asian community.

Despite this, from about 1960 - crime in Little Seoul, and Los Santos as a whole skyrocketed as organised crime and street gangs began to occupy the area. This called for drastic action from the Asian community. With the growing influence of foreign street-gangs in the area, the locals were forced to defend what's theirs. This then led to a long and slippery slope of decline for the tong, with the P.A.C.B.A.G.L.S.A getting itself involved in numerous political scandals which led it into disrepute which further exacerbated the situation. Nowadays, the tong is seen participating in dubious acts in a frail attempt to keep itself running after constant scandals. The building is now seen as a melting pot of two-bit and organised crime, with its fingers poked into several of the Asian street gangs in the area, even going so far as to outright fund the gangs due to the tong's poor control over the area. Unfortunately this is the future that's destined for the Yee Hing Building.

The P.A.C.B.A.G.L.S.A

The Yee Hing Tong Building is predominantly funded by the Pan-Asian Consolidated Benevolent Association of the Greater Los Santos Area. It's considered an NGO organisation, and has been running numerous charitable events, bake sales, put on plays, collect for charities, among other predictable NGO activities. The P.A.C.B.A.G.L.S.A is also responsible for the well-being of the Asian community in Los Santos. Unlike the traditional Chinese-Only benevolent organisations, this particular benevolent organisation caters to all Asian ethnicities regardless of wealth, background or religion. However, the main bulk of the organisation remains Chinese - and thus, most of the elders and financiers who run the tong still remain fairly influential within the community, however in recent years it had lost its reputation after it had dabbled in criminal affairs which is currently causing the slow decline and possible redundancy of the organisation as a whole.

- OOC INFORMATION -

Little Seoul is a vital asset to GTAW: it reinforces the canon aesthetic of the area, concentrates players in a mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly block, and is flexible enough in appearance to attract any class or background. We wish to create a realistic, Chinese-American orientated Tong which would in-turn have criminal aspects running under it. Despite the fact that we're Chinese orientated, we do allow for other ethnicities within the faction - though please bear in mind you may face trouble when attempting to join. If you're a Japanese man, you most likely won't be allowed within the Tong due to the still present dissent.

We aim to cater to all walks of life in Little Seoul, from the humble old men running the tong - all the way down to the criminal underworld which feasts upon it. This will hopefully ensure that Little Seoul remains a populated neighbourhood on the server and our main goal is to ensure that it bustles with roleplay.

We ask that if you wish to join us, you find us ICly. Whilst we try our best to consolidate roleplay within the faction, you may have to make your own sometimes.

Ideally, we ask that you have a Chinese-American character, second-generation and from the ages 15-30. Though these are just guidelines, it's not mandatory. If you wish to create an old man, you're free to do so - though these are what's probably best suited for the faction we're trying to portray and we can't guarantee you'll have fun if you decide to roleplay a FOB immigrant who can't speak a lick of English.

If you need help making a character for the faction, consult this guide, or join our discord:

The Subordinate Gangs of the Yee Hing Tong

The Lee Tung Boyz (LBZ)

Founded in the late 1990's, LBZ situate themselves in the area of Chamberlain Hills, predominantly located in the Asian dominated block, where both Chinese-Americans, Fillipinos and Cambodians live in unison together. Founded under the premise of protection from the local Afro-American and Hispanic gangs, most members are under the age of twenty, and many still attend Davis High School and other local schools where most members are recruited.

Being a minority group in the area, LBZ often come under a lot of discrimination, due to their limited presence in the area and the fact they mainly confine themselves to their own block. They have been forced to adapt to their surroundings, and since the early 2000's they have undergone a major cultural shift, and have begun to adopt African-American culture in both slang and fashion.

The Wing Tai Clique (WTC)

Operating out of Vinewood, this relatively new organisation has sworn itself to the Yee Hing Tong. Formed by notorious gangster Sonny Wu, the Wing Tai are often seen dealing in narcotics and offering out loans to the local citizenry of Vinewood - often charging exorbitant amounts of cash in interest, making gruesome examples of the ones that cannot pay or forcing them to work for them to pay off their debts.

While these are currently their primary aims and motivations, the group is certainly set on expanding and increasing their influence over the Vinewood area.
