What do you like and don't about the server?

There's no goverment RP.

So many other servers have tried and failed at implementing an effective government system. From what I can see, GTA W  is the only one which is determined to get the system right before launching into elections and other layers.  I think this is very important because we don't want this house being built on sand, after all.

What's been implemented so far is very good, and the direction that Government RP is going in on this server seems to be even better. Back on LSRP, the Government was purely there for appearances. I saw Mayors since 2008 attempt to roleplay a 'realistic' politician and leader figure, only to be shot down by the fact that the system wasn't there to support it. They had no control over taxes and public service budgets - in fact they basically just took the IC abuse for most OOC economy changes. It was only by accepting this that I actually enjoyed the position, for a time, and simply roleplayed for the realism and visibility that so many players seemed to want from the Government.

Roleplaying a politician and a Mayor was fun for a time on LSRP, but it got frustrating when you realised that you weren't truly in a position to make any real changes. Whilst I'm not saying that the Government should hold all the power (there should always be a good level of admin and FM involvement for the sake of player enjoyment, imo), it's good to see that there are certain concessions being made over here.

It's a shame that some people don't seem to think there's any Government RP at the moment, but I know that this will improve because this is a system that I think will really work in the long term.

Very excited to see how everything develops ?

That's right, Government RP is idle, but you can't really blame Nervous, it's FM's fault - good bunch of cronies running that show, well done!

It's not "idled" because you're blacklisted from it. Let's not turn this thread into a raging fest into whatever you're not authorized to RP in because you tried to OOC sneak yourself into every possible government areas, or I'll have to lock this.

TL;DR - Hey, it ain't much, but it's honest work. Give me a ring for all things gov.

What do I like? The opportunity GTA:W provides. What do I dislike? How time-consuming it can be!

Greetings!

Contrary to a popular belief, we (The GOV) aren't exactly a group of shadow brokers. Just a few of our recent public use projects include:

- Partial funding, guidance, regulation and management oversight of Los Santos' first casino, in conjunction with the development of a deeper gambling-oriented local legislation based on our findings

- Event Permit forms for everyone to use any city property for their one-off needs which include City Department presence request (PD, FD, but also Cultural Affairs)

- Cultural Affairs initiative to support all artistic roleplayers and cultivate the environment for this niche brand of roleplay to thrive in, helping the artists and art-focused businesses with operational expertise, funds and exposure

- Further development of the public works department, especially the Bureau of Transit, increasing the roster of the active drivers & dispatchers (still hiring!)

All of that is on top of our flagship economic project - grants and credits scheme available to all registered business - which is in full swing (almost, we have two applications on hold as of right now) and the licensing and registration platform, managed and maintained by our employees, and the routine operation of the city departments.

The City Council situation is a tricky one - the legal roleplay scene is still relatively fresh and fragile as far as impactful positions go, however myself and FM are working with all interested parties to facilitate a smooth transition to electability. Our current framework is based on gathering all interested parties to build a council infrastructure within the districts - and by interested parties, I refer to anyone who has been in touch regarding any council initiatives with myself or the server administration. The process is still in works, so if you are interested in all things City Council - don't hesitate to let us know!

I'm happy to answer all inquiries regarding government business, activity and plans - be it here, over forum PM's or in a Discord chat. Perhaps I should update my forum signature to carry this message far and wide.

Anyway, to wrap it up - we're not omniscient. We don't know everything nor do we know the ultimate best solution for every problem and/or situation we might encounter - and if you feel like you have something to talk about, please, please, please - reach out! I'm glad to exchange ideas and concepts any day of the week.

What do I like?

The staff team, who collectively work tirelessly and go far beyond what is expected of them in order to help players, administrate the server and create the best possible heavy roleplay environment. The development team, in particular, Andreas, Everett and Nervous also work incredibly hard and are brilliant!

What I don't like is the fact that I have to hide a lot of posts when a thread gets derailed. Please keep to the question at the top of the thread

How do we apply for those kinds of jobs? I don't see any areas on this forum or any ads IG.

It is hard to say what I like, cause there's plenty. And what I dislike? Sure there are few things, especially about drugs, cause from cocaine higher, it is kinda pointless investing in those, unless you know people roleplaying actual addicts, who are willing and would actually buy from you to use it.

Cause most people don't. Or they do, but they powerplay it, like they bought 5 baggies once and they smoke from them to this day.

That aside, cars...now now, I understand there's plenty of them, a variety to be kept on the leash though. Cause if you gave people option to buy a supercar for a million for example, there would be individuals to buy those. Not sure about actual credibility though. But yeah some cars that I like are not in game, but that is just my subjective view, nothing more.

What I like about the server

  • The big and consistent playerbase.
  • The community, I found it very welcoming and pretty easy to find my "tribe" so to speak, compared to other communities.
  • That it's not hard to aquire illegal items / weapons if you spend an hour or two asking around.
  • Most people manage to roleplay as realistically as possible.

What I don't like about the server :

  • The players are very spread out throughout the map, so even when the server has 260 people for example, it usually feels empty.
  • Quite a few people drive expensive sports cars 24/7 which I think is slightly unrealistic, what are your opinions on people driving sports cars etc?
  • Drugs are harder to aquire than pistols, but this may have just been experience!

While I'm thoroughly enjoying my time here so far, I do have to say that the above two points have been a couple observations that I've also made. Not so much can be done about 260 players (which is a decent player base, all considered) being spread out - I was highly impressed to see that the likes of gas stations and convenience stores light up green when there's a player present - which offsets this issue; meaning you can easily find a way to have some player-to-player interaction. There's also the frequent bar and club openings - it might be nice to see cafés, restaurants and other businesses opening too.

The sports car thing is another one that I've observed, though it doesn't bother me so much. You can't blame people for wanting to have nice things - but sometimes you need to pump the brakes and ask yourself whether it'd be realistic for your character to afford and sustain it; I've encountered a lot of people who role play unemployed - but can still kick around in a high-end convertible sports car. In fact, I'm sure there's a couple scenario questions which touch upon this - I believe I had one (that's another thing I forgot to mention; the server application was very much relevant and not so much a "copy and paste Rule A, B and C and put it in your own words").

Not so much a server criticism, and I can't reiterate enough how disappointed with myself for putting off checking out this server based on the stigma, but those are two points that I've noticed too.
