The treatment of a cruel life, distinctly including extreme poverty, the increasing size of population, and of course, the struggle of which the family had to endure. The Palau family were a prime example of that of immigration, forced to work upon gaining their own wealth, as well as footing in the society, being put through the harsh realities, and labor that was expected of them. The family shifted location from Cotuí, Dominican Republic, and found their residual in the United States of America. The particular location being Los Santos, in the neighborhood of Rancho, due to the specific reasoning that the father was offered an opportunity that he couldn’t refuse, if he was going to better the lives of his family, and pave a way for his family. Before the move, a year prior, the peak of their poverty, and negligence, the duo of Paulina, and Felipe welcomed their third child, their first girl in the Palau Family. A sister to two older brothers, Vinny, and Max. The day arrived, the sun blinded the room with its’ shine, forcing for the nurse to shut the curtains. The nurse lets out a huge sigh, as she eyes the rain. Upon turning around, she'd widen her eyes to see Paulina pushing by herself. Instantly rushing over, she'd offer assistance to the female, repeating 'Push, Push, Push' to her, as Paulina heavily breathed. Silence filled the room, until a wept of crying could be distinctly heard. Paulina's face flustered with their red shimmer to her complexion, while clenching on Felipe's hand even harder. On the 10th of May 1995, Sana Raiza Palau was born to the parents by the name of Paulina, and Felipe Palau in the local hospital of Cotuí, Dominican Republic. The introduction of their first daughter to the world, and to the family.

With Sana being the oldest sister of the family, she was quickly educated, and made aware, even if it made her feel incredibly uncomfortable. Sana’s childhood was restrictive, not embracing the luxuries, and values that many children around the world were acquainted with. Instead of toys, she was pushed instead to learning, with books of a better life placed in her lap. She grew a hard shell, observing her parents whom had to most literally work their blood, sweat, and tears through their jobs, in order for the family to even have a chance at survival. Sana's support system was her mother. She was taught how to talk, walk, and even use the toilet by her mother. Her relationship with her mother was a strong one, however Sana did find herself as being a daddy's girl. He loved Sana, and shower her with love, and affection. Actually, Sana’s first word was “Da da.”. Their family was normal, no difficulties were encountered. The family continued to blossom with the birth of yet another girl, Regina, all whilst Paulina, and Felipe struggled to house their family, working tirelessly to earn any type of income for them, and their children. In a small house, with only two bedrooms, they had to make do with what they had. Eventually, it was made aware that Sana’s father was involved in gang activity, desperation to better the life of his family, and Sana herself was personally too young to have any knowledge of her mother. She had to witness her mother learn about this, gritted her teeth every night that he wouldn’t come home, become weaker, and weaker, until finally one night, Felipe Palau was pronounced dead on the scene of a drive-by at 2:43am in the morning. This obviously had an impact on the entire family. Paulina had just lost her husband, while the four children had just lost their father figure. Sana was, of course, too young to really know much about her father, yet it did feel like an empty burning in the entire family. It was noted that the Palau family were very religious, with Sana’s parents establishing the faith in them, even at such a young age. The death of the father did have an impact on the faith, especially for Paulina, whom had lost someone whom he had loved, and cherished, and now had to raise four children alone, whilst additionally five months pregnant with twins. It was overly tragic. The children had to grow up. They had to mature at such a young age, for their future, and for their mother. It was evident that Paulina was struggling, attempting to fend for her children, however with being pregnant, she just couldn’t. Countless threats from the landlord, and social services, bills building up to form a tower, Paulina eventually reached her breaking point. She was desperate, and called for any help in the neighborhood. Thankful in the help that she received, she gave birth to two twins, Juan, and Gael. Sana’s two youngest brothers encountered a variety of health complications, making them entirely bed-ridden. The cause of the family’s income to aid them in their recovery, the negligence of the entirety of the children, instead the perceived focus on the twins, and only them. Sana’s mother applied, and applied for multiple jobs, however she was consistently met with rejection. In the end, she was forced to the job of maid, a job to which she didn’t wish to have. It made money, even with the long, gruelling hours she had to endure. It was for her family. For the Palau family.

Sana endured a life that was rather reserved, attempting to prevent herself from any, and all temptations. She stayed true to the values that she had grew up with, even if she didn’t agree with them. Perhaps, she was just naïve, or maybe she really did want to fit in, and redeem as being the perfect daughter. She tried abstained from sex, drugs, alcohol, anything that could perhaps hinder her chance of being the perfect daughter, however was met with failure. Throughout all years of school, Sana did her best, trying to fit in, yet failing, alongside with her grades. A potential to better herself, however with the lack of effort, she’d succumb to failure. Though, Sana continued to try at excelling at everything that she could. Sana witnessed that of her older brothers being outcasted, and abandoned by her mother in complete isolation due to their involvement in the local gang, belittling themselves to danger, something that Paulina did not want for any of her children, with the outcome of their father.. Due to her own negligence, and fear, she didn’t want to get involved in the arguments, because both of them were in the wrong, instead she’d built up her feelings, holding them dear, and tight to her. The constant hearing of fights, the sighting of her bleeding brothers who got involved in fights, this wasn’t the life that she wanted. Distracted from her studies, her life, and everything, it was endless for Sana. Low income, and a struggling family, the witness of her fellow classmates, or friends rocking fashionable clothes, or make-up, she succumb to the ideal of stealing, jacking products from cosmetic store, or playing the pretend trick of trying on clothes, and putting them in her bag. Eventually, she was caught stupidly in the midst of her act, being took to the local jail, to hold for one night. Crime was something that was heavily influenced in her life, through the years. The witness of her brothers, to the hearing of her father, and the involvement of her friends. She couldn’t help, but to get involved. A teen who just wanted to cherish in the fun, and the crime without a care in the world. The era of her teen years, the rebel of her grades, her mother’s desires, and the law, Sana hung with the wrong crowd. Within this crowd, a childhood friend by the name of Cristian was involved. The childish tease of their maturity, the duo involved in simple hook-ups, just the casual sex, Sana actually losing her virginity to him. A poised secret to which they shared, it was getting evident of Sana’s desire for a relationship, the growing feelings for him. Sixteen, Sana wasn’t aware of her feelings realistically, all that she knew was how he made her feel. An embedded thought, that she should like him in every type of way. Things came to a halt on the discovery of her period being late. The scare, and fear of pregnancy quivered in her body, the drum of her fingers on the counter-top as her eyes diverted to the stolen pregnancy test. Positive. A whimper, an abandonment. The first to hear was Paulina, the annoyance of Sana ruining her life, however she posed as a support for her daughter. It was just another mouth to feed, wasn’t it? Just ignore the seven of them already struggling in their lacking income. The assist of her brothers aided the mother, with Sana doing some side-jobs to support the family, however with the pregnancy, her life reached a halt. A childish act had lead to a serious consequence, a child. Upon telling Cristian, his reaction was completely different to what she expected. The expectation to run away, and start a family, how ignorant. Simple, and notably, Cristian did not want to have a child, he wasn’t ready for one. Thus, began the ignoring of her. Sana’s anger increased, the separation of herself from those to which she’d consider friends, and instead hide. A hide from their judgement, and laughs. Her pregnancy was smooth, however it got in the way of her education, with Sana not being able to finish school as she had hoped too. It prevented her from returning, and upon the birth of her son, Daniel, there was no way of returning. In his birth, Sana went on to state that Cristian wasn’t on the birth certificate, as a way to degrade his name, however it was evident that he was. Even in their anger, Sana wanted Daniel to know who his father really was. Daniel changed her life, maturing her up, rather forcingly, and he was the light of her life, with no exaggeration. The aging of her siblings, they all branched out, starting their own families, whilst Sana remained at home, in Rancho, with her mother, and the new infant. She gave back to her mother by working at the local 24/7, paying for the rent due to the mother reaching a fragile state. The years of building up her emotions from the passing of her husband, she suffered from the extremes of depression. The effect of her career, she quit the entirety of her job, now depending on the income of her children. The brothers offering money, whilst the sisters pay the rent. Saddened, and the consuming of her time on the twins - The twins whom were still struggling with their health issues, the majority of their funds wasted on it. Through the two years, Sana switched through multiple jobs, anything she could get her had on. The stepping of a mother for her child, to offer the income for them both, but also her mother, and twins. In the two years, Sana cut herself off, the segregation of friends, anyone whom wasn’t her family, or Daniel. Her dependence on others was lacking, wanting to take all the privilege to herself. A mother forced to fend for herself, and her son. The duration of her days were spent with Daniel, teaching him the values to which she grew up to learn. A son attached to the only parent figure in his life, his mother. The reflection of herself profound in Daniel, the growing up without the involvement of a father in their life.

The expanding of herself out of the house, approaching new contacts, and new socials, it was then that after the two years, silent with no contact, Cristian contacted Sana. The ask to see his son, and be involved in his life. Hesitant, angered, and frustrated, she firstly said no. The relieve of her anger to Cristian, the loneliness she felt, and how abandoned she felt, with no consideration, or support from him. The main reason for her aggression towards him, the lack of involvement in Daniel’s life. A waking up call to Sana, she began to let Cristian in his life. Daniel couldn’t live a life without a father. He needed a father, and she didn’t want the repeat of her life in his, nor did she want the disappointment of her son in the ignorance of his mother not allowing his father to see him over petty reasons. Sana set up dates, with the times aligned of the having of Daniel, currently a toddler between the duo. In terms of crime, and illegal aspects, Sana’s involvement was minimalistic, an outside view on the inside. A maturity to which prevented her from exploring further. She had too much baggage on her back, with Daniel. She couldn’t get caught. Sana’s life slowed down, the reveal in a relationship to which met an abrupt end. The reason? The desire to not have a child with someone who it didn’t feel right with, the result of an abortion. A cruel, and tragic scenario to be placed in, however she wasn’t ready for another child, nor did she want to repeat the mistakes of her childhood, having a child with someone who it didn’t feel right with. In the midst of these events, Cristian, Daniel’s father was convicted, placed in prison. It was unsure to the extent of his time inside, however it was a step back in the wrong direction. Back to being the single mother, back to Daniel not having the father figure that he required. The toddler was too young to understand, nor could Sana bring herself to tell him. To this day, he just thinks his father is just on holiday. A sad dream, and thought to which Sana will have to abruptly stop someday soon. The failure of the relationship, and three years later, now at the age of twenty-four, Sana’s approach to life is more mature. Daniel is five, attending the local school, whilst having the enjoyment of Sana in his life. Sana spent the duration of her time in an out of jobs, however she is now bettering herself, the enrolment in the local college to study psychology, to later become a mental health nurse. A job to which involves a large amount of income, and something that she is passionate about. The balance of Daniel, college, coursework, her job as a maid, and a social life, it is time-consuming, and gruelling for her. Religion is something that she considers, and wishes to explore, the faith to which her parents had. She wants to know about the higher power. She cherishes in life, even meeting the man who she deems as her soulmate. His introduction to her on the porch of her house, the approach for the topic of a close friend in regard to Daniel lead to their meeting. The duo spent time together, the discussion of what was needed, with the occasion flirt. The offer of dinner arose, for her, and Daniel, a meal being cooked by the man. The interaction of Daniel, and the male glistened her in a smile, with the warmth of the meal buried in her stomach. The short of the story, the two got to know each other, on a more personal level once Daniel fell to sleep. Two adults, becoming more acquainted with each other. The night ended with a kiss, the touch of their skin. He even walked her home while carrying a sleeping Daniel on the bulk of his frame. The next night, the duo indulged in their company again. The exploration of their feelings, and just getting to know each other much more. Sana has fell head over heels for this male, heavily in love with him. This man by the name of Aurelio.
