Chad Grizforth, Los Santos Aviation’s founder, is suave in an all-black suit as he sits opposite me aboard his Buckingham Nimbus private jet.

 

Nested in the opulent leather seat with Dolce And Gabbana stitching, midnight is a distant memory as we discuss his journey from a former LSPD Air Support Division pilot to Los Santos’ newest aviation entrepreneur. Only twenty minutes earlier were we hovering 500 feet over the cityscape in the second member of their four-piece fleet; the Buckingham Swift. Drawn earlier into the night by ten-to-twenty minutes, his Italian-Canadian consigliere Vincenzio showed up in the company’s limousine, complete with the expected amenities.

Housed within a private hangar down Los Santos International Airport, Los Santos Aviation plants both of its figurative feet in the enterprise in luxury hospitality. Unlike the comparatively clinical treatment of commercial airlines, their customers “…aren’t just paying for an airplane. They’re paying for privacy, luxury and our customer service.”

 

Clients who book via the official website or on the phone are offered round-the-clock service. The very night we met, a booking was made over the phone and their focused on-demand ethic had the flight airborne only twenty minutes later. Chad likens LSA’s service to stepping into his living room where “customized catering, beverages and special requests” tailored to his clients. fleet covers a variety of travel options. The newest addition is the Nimbus with its “comfortable seating, top of the line entertainment, a full galley and a very long range” with the ability of “coast to coast non-stop” travel. The company even planned a flight to Paris in March with a fuel stop in the East Coast sprawl of Liberty City.

 

Chad understands the value of word of mouth advertising. Their service aims to cater to every single need of their clients. Unlike the laidback nature of running a taproom, the luxurious hospitality sector asks a man who typically carries himself with understated flamboyance to hone his professional managerial style.

What of the founder himself? Chad’s airborne career begun when he snagged his pilot’s license after graduating college. From there he leapt into forest and wild land restoration; preemptively plotting out charts via air reconnaissance for logging operations, maintain the forest’s ecology and sustaining its environment. Revelling in airborne escapades; his additional penchant for service and hospitality drew him into law enforcement.

This wasn’t enough. Keen to find the next venture, Chad had indulged the brewing of alcohol. Brewing since he was a child, Chad gathered the money to launch a small company of his own – “The Thin Blue Line”.  Later ventures into the business included the Thin Blue Line Taproom based at the Out of Towners building beneath Del Perro Pier. Here the emphasis was on a police-themed environment where the virtue of Southern hospitality met a menu with its tongue firmly lodged in its cheek: “Thin Blue Lager” “Kode 3 Kolsch” and “Interceptor IPA”. From here an ambition as seemingly infinite as the horizon itself led Chad to today. Despite the easy target an LSPD officer presents for disdain, Chad confides that he “never feared being in the public eye” but that “it was simply time for me to move on and purse other dreams”.

While the brewery emphasized local ingredients the LSA fleet is half-American, half-British.
“Each has its own unique capabilities and luxuries. They're all a pleasure to fly.”
