NuKwbFl.pngDead End Harpys 13 are a street gang planted in the heart of South Los Santos, acting as an urban operation for the Mexican mafia (also known as La Eme). Further ties to La Eme can be made out from the number thirteen in their name which pays homage to their allegiance to the prison operated criminal organization. Orders often find their ways out from the thick prison walls to shot callers of Sureño street sets such as the Dead End Harpys gang, these orders usually mean green lights set by the upper echelons of La Eme. The gang is a sub-set for the Sureños populated by youngsters grown up in the area the gang claims territory. Initiated members of the gang often prove ruthless and willing to do anything to gain respect in order to climb the hierarchy. Recognition is gained by “putting in work”, carrying out criminal activities such as drug dealing, homicide and mugging. Teenagers are usually brought in by their relatives or lured in by the glamorized life styles of those involved. People born outside the neighborhood are not allowed into the gang. The Harpys name is derived from the American Harpy Eagle, which is the largest and most powerful raptor found in America. The Harpy's Gang operates out of Rancho.

FACTION GUIDELINES

If interested in joining this faction it is required by you to fully understand how to realistically portray an outsider and/or gang member of the Dead End Harpys Gang 13. Below I will list some important things to take into consideration for your character creation, development and action.

1.1

Do not speak full sentences in Spanish, we portray a street gang ran by second generation immigrants. These people are born in Los Santos and speak primarily English, they may have a slight grasp on Spanish depending on how dedicated they are to learn their mother tongue but generally a teenager wouldn’t have a tight grasp on the language.

1.2

Refrain from using Mexican first names as much as you can. Since we’re second generation immigrants we naturally adopt American first names in order to adapt to the society.

1.3

Don’t use random Mexican terms that no one knows of, they will only cause confusion. Follow the general slang list as it has been established as a foundation in the gang for decades. (also see: 1.1)

1.4

Portray your character as born or residing in the area. Outsiders will be paid no respect.

1.5

If you fail to properly dialog your character you’re susceptible to mockery (all in character, of course). Watch some documentaries/videos on how Sureños talk today. (It’s still much the same but with very subtle changes)

1.6

Know how to properly design the look of your character. Sureños are known to wear blue and grey sports clothing (although Harpys also wear red/brown). Other clothing articles include flannels, baggy Dickies shorts & chinos, black mittens, Chuck Taylor's, white sneakers and baggy shirts of all colors. Most men are bald, also known as pelon's, donning tattoos all across their bodies (including the facial area). Refrain from wearing bandana's as they’re not commonly worn amongst Sureños on a regular basis. If you have a hard time getting a unique look, try going shirtless. Do not role play having a “Sureños” or three-dot tattoo unless you’ve formally been jumped into a Sureño street gang.

1.7

Role playing drug use is heavily encouraged and not just marijuana. Heavier drugs are commonplace in street gangs, do not be afraid to role play an addict, you will still be respected amongst the hood as long as you keep it reasonable. Showing flaws in your character is encouraged.

1.8

Drug distribution is a focal point of the Harpys and sometimes their main source of income. Feel free to do your thing without having a word with an official Harpys member, however keep in mind that arrangements may be made based on your business in the neighborhood.

1.9

Don’t just stand around on the street all day. Try to introduce new approaches to your role play, think of something interesting that could enhance the gritty suburban atmosphere in the neighborhood. Introduce conflicts, back story and dialog.
