  1. The Brockton Gang was a notorious group of men from loosely connected organized crime groups in the Greater Boston area of New England. They were of predominantly Irish and Scottish descent, though several of them were of English, Polish and Italian descent; even associating with Latins and Blacks. Although serving most of their criminal careers working closely under the Winter Hill gang of Boston, Brockton's reputation as a crew was solidified in the early 90's as professional armored truck and jewel thieves. Previously, the Brockton Gang, who were still in their teens and 20's by this time, were mentored by one of Winter Hill's top enforcers, James MacDondald. From menial drug running to beatings and bouncing clubs, much of the crew had their introductions to criminality as early as 13 years old. Although the young men spent a lot of their time downtown and in south Boston, the founding members of the crew were born and raised in the small, predominantly Irish town of Brockton, Massachusetts, just outside of the city. As the FBI cracked down on Winter Hill through the end of the 80's and 90's and the Brockton Gang matured, managing their books and operations from outside the city gave the gang a veil of protection from law enforcement scrutiny. To the FBI, Whitey Bulger and his involvement in the department's internal corruption was the prime focus. Toward the end of the 90's, most organized crime in New England saw the writing on the wall for the Winter Hill crew and distanced themselves. This was the time that the gang developed it's reputation as the most professional and efficient unit-for-hire in New England; their golden years. Meticulously planned bank and armored truck robberies eventually progressed into hits for the Italian and Russian mafia. These jobs brought in considerable wealth to the Brockton gang which naturally lead to the expansion of the organization; they created their structure around bookmaking, drug trafficking, and extortion rackets. In 2005, during a bank heist, a 16 year old girl was tragically shot by one of the members. This prompted a full scale investigation into the crew. At the time, the unofficial boss of the gang, James MacDonald, had just passed away and after a short power struggle a new boss arose at the head of the gang. In the wake of the heist which lead to the death of the 16 year old girl, it was the new boss's decision to move the gang's operations out of New England before the FBI could develop suspects. Now, in the dawn of the new 20's, rumor is a few have made their way to the sunny city of Los Santos with more and more of them making their way out each year. Not much is known of their presence out west, keeping a mostly low profile. However; those that have worked with them learned very quickly that they're a crew to be respected... Those that didn't? Well... they were taught. OOC Information The Brockton Gang aims to create the most realistic interpretation of American Irish organized crime with strong New England, blue collar white culture. This includes a strong emphasis on 70's culture for the older members and "misguided" youth culture of the younger members. This would keep the "off-the-boat" or silly interpretations of the American Irish at an absolute minimum. In current times, with ethnic backgrounds among white organized crime seldom separating people anymore, The Brockton Gang will RP with people who are capable of understanding and portraying white American culture across generations. It's important that though the origins of many of the members are from New England, RP from folks in Liberty City or any other city/state/country are welcome given they meet RP standards and mesh aesthetically. Backstory and lore surrounding the Brockton Gang is entirely fictitious; however, it ties heavily into real word organized crime syndicates and figures of the past such as the Winter Hill Gang and James MacDonald, a real enforcer of the original Winter Hill crew. Feel free to contact @SlickCJL for more information for the time being as the group develops.

  3. The Irish Mob is an organized crime group in the United States which has been in existence since the early 19th century. Originating in Irish American street gangs—depicted in Herbert Asbury's 1927 book The Gangs of New York—the Irish Mob has appeared in most major U.S. cities, especially on the east coast, including Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, and Chicago. The Irish Mob also has a strong presence in Ireland; however, unlike in the United States, the group has only been present in Ireland from the 1960s and onwards. Predominantly active in Dublin and Limerick, the group most often works under crime families focusing on the drug trade.
