  1. THE BEJKO ORGANIZATION The streets of Tirana and the roots of Albanian-American organized crime In Tirana, Pjeter Marku lived with his mother, grandmother and her young adult son in a part of town called Selvia, and rented a car that I drove on highways that are pitch-black at night and have no speed limits. He went through cities where the traffic lights are suggestions, weaving through the chaos of donkey carts, overloaded motorcycles and pedestrians crossing everywhere. There were no sidewalks. The crumbling walls of many of the buildings were covered by gang tags: graffiti that said fuck this and fuck that, a picture of a smoking spliff on one wall, the phrase "criminal boys" tagged, in English, on the wall of a prison. The streets that had businesses on them were lined with coffee shops, casinos, and one pharmacy after another that sold drugs like Xanax and Ambien over the counter. In a bleak, run-down cement apartment building, "Toni Montana" was graffitied on a hallway wall outside. I went there to visit a divorced mother who was fighting cancer, who lives with her mother and her young adult son who has to hustle to pay under the table for medical treatment. Pjeter was only 12 years old when he was tasked with the daunting responsibility of being a nurse to his terminally ill mom. She was in her last stages of nasopharyngeal cancer, and because we couldn’t afford hospital care and treatments, she opted to live out her final months in her childhood home in the province. More than a decade after his mother died of cancer, her death still haunts me. It was no doubt a painful time, but it was also filled with so many profound moments. His mother, even in her all too fragile state, was indirectly teaching me valuable life lessons, which later on became my weapon and armor to survive adulthood. Pjeter arrived to New York City 8 years after his mothers death on a blistering hot day in June. Twenty-three, ten bags and one roller coaster of a journey ahead of him. He relived nights out at the same clubs, bars, pubs, and restaurants week after week and desperately needed a change. He persevered and made a friendship circle who had now became his rock in the city. The circle hanging around Pjeter started to become a small-time criminal crew in New York which actively hung around clubs, bar pubs and restaurants and collected the filthy jobs from the Italians mobsters. The members of the Marku crew in New York loved Scarface, Donnie Brasco, Goodfellas, John Gotti and the Iceman. One nicknamed himself "Tony Montana." They hustled hard and all-in, with seemingly no regard for consequences, taking equally reckless approaches to their dealings with other dangerous gangsters and the police. For them, it wasn't about business—they seemed committed to the life, at all costs. They practiced shooting at gun ranges, and then shot off their weapons in a coffee shop and, another time, from a car going down the highway in celebration after a drug deal. They bought gun after gun, with accessories—Glocks, silencers, shotguns, 9 mms, semi-automatics, hollow-point bullets, bulletproof vests. They picked up a gun from a fellow restaurant worker for 50 dollars and bought a machine gun from a former soldier. They’d refer to the weapons in code, saying to each other in Albanian, “Make sure you bring that thing (sende) with you.” Multiple figures with violent records seen frequenting Los Santos. Possible resurgence of Albanian Organized Crime? By James Miller. APRIL 10, 2021 11:08 AM PT Once considered as the ‘sixth family’ by the FBI's criminal division of New York, ever after Rudaj’s arrest in 2006, it was safe to assume that Albanian organized crime in NY had been beyond crippled. But as most criminal organizations, when an individual takes the fall, others adapt & emerge to make the most out of whatever remains. Like several other groups, while their hay-days are far beyond over, reports suggest multiple small-time crews continue operating around Astoria & Queens. A striking feature seen among Albanians remains to be the phenomenon of brotherhood, which has continuously faded among other criminals over the past few decades. The most notable example is the involvement of an Albanian-American Police Officer Besnik Llakatura in 2015. FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Sweeney stated, “Besnik Llakatura took an oath to serve and protect the citizens of New York City as an officer of the NYPD, while simultaneously pledging his allegiance to a violent organized crime group bent on shaking down local Queens business owners within the Albanian community.” Among the list of charged defendants, two notable names were of Pjeter Marku & Tony Bejko, both emigrated to the United States as refugees of war in mid 90s according to reports. Bejko who wasn’t found guilty on any charges has moved to Los Santos ever since, while Pjeter Marku, released in February after a five year sentence has been seen frequenting LS and spotted with Bejko on numerous occasions. Experts believe throughout the course of his stay in Los Santos, Bejko has continued to dabble into the LS underworld. Tried in 2020 for narcotics distribution, Bejko once again was proven not guilty with lack of testimony. With Marku’s unexpected move, the two are suspected to cash in further on what the city has to offer, going back to their old habits.
  2. Dobraj Organization The Dobraj Organization, otherwise known as Rrjeti Shqiptar (Albanian Network), or the Los Santos Albanian Mob, is an organized crime group made up of Albanian immigrants in the United States. The group's leadership is known to stem from the "Rudaj Organization", the most influential Albanian organized crime group in the United States, based in Westchester, New York. The group is known to be headed by Burim "Bujka" Dobraj and Armend Jashari. Both leaders are alleged to have been former members of the Rudaj Organization; having left New York behind before the federal prosecutions of the organization's members could take place. The Rudaj Organization & Albanian Organized Crime The Rudaj Organization, or as it's called by its members, "The Corporation", is an Albanian organized crime group based in Westchester, New York, and has expanded to Bronx and Queens. The group was known to be headed by Alex Rudaj and Nardino Colotti until the duo's incarcerations in 2006. The organization worked in conjunction with the Gambino crime family and other Italian-American (La Cosa Nostra) crime families in New York. Later on, the organization and the Italian-American crime families actually turned against each other. Members of Albanian organized crime groups abide by a code of honor—besa, meaning "trust". Similar to the recruitment process of La Cosa Nostra, when members are recruited to the Albanian mob, they take an oath. The Albanian mafia, as a whole, is one of the highest crime generating elements in the world. One of the main reasons for this is being how hard they are to penetrate as an organization. Using traditional values like a strong code of trust, the members of this group undergo strong internal discipline. Not only that but the Albanian mafia practice Endogamy in their clan-like structure, which increases the impermeability of their organization and the reliability among their members; with the majority of them being related to one another in some way. With this, the Albanian mafia has solidified its entry into crime in other countries, exploiting new opportunities. The group's hierarchy is based on respect and reputation. The most influential individuals are at the top. 3. Organizata Shqiptare: The roots of the organization lie within Rustem Dobraj. The Albanian-American smuggled large quantities of marijuana from the albanian coast to Italy, which the local Sicilian mafia then shipped out to America in large quantities. His mother being Italian & him being able to speak it fluent, he had a good rapport with Aldo Sigliarri. Years down the line, as the Greco family of Liberty city needed more men, they’d approached Aldo for the same & one of the few Albanians who with the blessing of Aldo were set out for the US. But Rustem had different plans. He had studied the Italian hierarchy & culture, & had realized he couldn’t get far not being a full Italian. Being pushy & staying on the edge, he attempted & succeeded knocking the same thought in other Albanian heads, prominent among them were Skender Isma, Adem Cela, and Driton Dushku. They created a new identity for each person & moved to San Fierro. For years they operated in relatively small numbers indulged in car thefts, contract killings, prostitution rings & vandalism whenever necessary most of them being extreme hotheads. He saw the weapon potential Rustem went back to the Berisha clan, the Albanian group with help of which Rustem smuggled marijuana to Italy. He risked the visit with all of his men & showed him how good they were doing on the western coast after ditching the Italians. After a long explanation of a well laid out plan where he explained how much money they’d make if it went right to San Fierro from Lazarat - the drug heaven of Albania without any Italian intermediaries. Having closed the deal, the group made mad money just with the drug trafficking along with other crimes. He also promised other Albanian men a better life & bought them along. In the late 2000’s, Adam & Driton & their little crew got caught vandalizing a shop because of not getting the weekly extortion. Already being reported to the authorities, this was expected & the area was surrounded by the department already. It ended up as a massive shootout, only Driton surviving & jailed for 25 years. This was a major blow to the organization, Rustem laundered all his part of the money paying a massive fee, fleed out to Los Santos laying low & handed the organization to Skender. Turned out that one from Driton’s crew had spit everything out, but most of them wouldn’t know Rustem since there always was a buffer. He was able to dodge a huge bullet there. Due to this the PD continued to crack down the operations & soon Skender was behind the bars too. Rustem tried to live normally in Los Santos, but struggled with the same. He was hooked. The life had took over him eternally, and although he managed to break through possibly the worst time in his life, he couldn’t stop thinking about what he lost. He tried going onto a vacation at Kosova to meet his old friends & family, but the American vibe that took over him since the years wouldn’t let go of him. Meanwhile his son Burim didn’t do any good in education & already participated in petty crimes, even started his own crew & the news of his arrest for almost every charge quickly pulled Rustem back into the life. He returned to LS & bought in a few of his known men he’d know since the years and put in all the money made. The group started buying out various businesses & establishing control over various parts of LS & have been continuing to do so. OOC The organization aims to portray the unique aspect of bonding among the members, that are a part of the personal family but still involved in all criminal aspect, since most of us are IC’ly related to each other in a way or the other. Everyone has other characters that they play on, while we’re not against this in any way whatsoever, it’s totally fine & we respect it. But if you are or willing to be a part of faction & there’s no one on, you could still play the character & go on to some interaction which could potentially be very substantial for the faction & bring a whole new storyline & yes, just by one interaction that you had when no one else was on. DO NOT, wait for others to feed you roleplay, get in the mindset of your character, there’s endless possibilities even when there’s no one you know online. If you’re willing to join & would like to have ideas, references & help on how to portray an Albanian character, we’ll be happy to guide you with the same but you’ll have to catch up with us IC & develop from there. If you aren’t the best in English, our doors remain open as far as you take it IC & roleplay an immigrant or make it a part of your backstory with reasoning. This goes without saying but make sure to respect & follow the community’s rules & guidelines. By RPing with us you agree to give the leadership CK perms.
