  1. Very well put, Josh. I think you echo Detective's qualms with the current ambiguous CCTV rules. I've personally had admins have no issues with role playing CCTV cameras from server owned buildings (that weren't mapped). I've also had admins do the opposite. If we're at the whim of the interpretation of the rules by every other admin, we're open to wide spread issues that will stem into player reports and voiding role play which shouldn't be the case as we should be focused as a community on fostering quality role play that comes from investigations in a fair and balanced approach. While I understand management has put the mapped cameras stipulation for player owned buildings behind an in real life pay wall, I see no reason why logical places that would have cameras and are server owned wouldn't have them. +1
  2. NAME: DVSjanitor COMMENT: not surprised this ambulance chaser has aspirations for politics. he'll fit right in with the crooks.
  3. Since you mentioned unmarked cars, I feel like I can touch on this. Most unmarked cars will be someone from a specialized unit (detectives, traffic unit, special weapons), their purview is not the same as marked patrol vehicles. This means that regular 911 calls are not AS relevant to them (although that's not to say they can't/won't stop for a citizen flagging them down, etc.) Think about it. It makes no sense for a specialized unit that has training, money, manpower resources thrown at it to be doing the same thing that patrol cars do. They're meant to be doing what they've been trained to do. And as others have pointed out, you have no clue what they are or are not doing at the time, just that they're not stopping. They might be headed to another call already, they might be going to back up someone's traffic stop, they might be going to the station to hand in evidence and write reports, they might be headed back to log off for the night, they might have generally missed whatever was happening infront of them (happens more often than you'd think), or yeah, they might have just ignored it. I think it's easy to just see the negative reasonings on something you don't understand while not giving the benefit of the doubt to the person that there might be a legitimate reason as to why they're not stopping. And also at risk of derailing the topic although the past 2 pages have all but pretty much done that, I do find it rich that the players who don't like harsh jail sentences to deter crime because they view jail as an ooc punishment are the same players to turn around and say that police shouldn't get to pick and choose and should be forced to do the "boring" scenes.
  4. And where does the server get it's weather data from? I'll wait...
  5. It's easier for me to be a contributing member of society virtually than it is in real life.
  6. Agreed. If you're a Judge, you hold one of the most important titles on the server. You've gone through the checks and balances, and you're one of the very few people who actually understands the depths of the laws. If people are that worried about corruption/mismanagement then we'll get no where as a server. If on the off chance that someone does rulebreak then they should be punished accordingly.
