  1. As stated above by Declan. Jail times go by quicker while in-game. You also have other options for early release, I.E. Parole. If you want RP in jail, I suggest joining the Sheriffs Department Discord and organizing to get on with other inmates and custody deputies in our inmate chat.
  2. I’m supporting this as well. No one, especially a LEO would take the time to dismount their rifle as quickly as I’ve seen in some videos of players on this server. They’ll get the hell out of there, then deploy their rifle from a distance... or they’ll use the weapon at their hip. It’s not your job to put an “end” to anything, man. You’re just supposed to portray a realistic LEO. The rifle is never mounted in a “center rack” for a normal patrol deputy or officer anyway. It should be roleplayed out and taken out in circumstances that warrant it. It’s not used as an instant “I’m going to win this PvP scenario now.”
  3. Very kind of you, Thimble. We appreciate and accept all pats on the backs. I want to start by stating that I am not a member of the command staff, but I can give you leveled opinion from what has been communicated and what I believe the direction is. This is not official and I may as well be wrong, but here we go. I understand the issue you’re describing, and most roleplay opportunities in the jail are best scheduled and organized on the discord. The reason why there isn’t any deputies on active shift always is because 9.99/10 times, the inmates there are AFK or are realistically placed away in segregation due to their behavior/actions. There’s a lot of opportunity in the jail, and I know it’s going through reworks, expansion, and a bunch of development to open the door to even more opportunities. (Better design, compartments, businesses, and actual jobs to complete). Another thing that is changing is the command structure, which has opened the door to more supervisors to be present and able to lead and organize work shifts and tag other inmates to get online to enjoy those experiences. I know this may not be the best answer or the one you’d want, but in my eyes it’s the honest truth. We are just over three months in the faction, and there’s some things that are moving and changing and only in time and experience will we find the best ways to motivate and create a better experience within the jail. Thank you for your criticism, it does actually help and push us to making a better faction, but please be patient and understanding that some of these things require proper foundation and staff to run correctly.
  4. You know the phrase "Assuming makes an ass out of you and me?" That's what I'm reading here. This situation was a shooting where two deputies were already present and one police officer was present. When the shooting was called in, the deputies' acting supervisor (me) arrived. Afterward, detective bureau was called to document the deceased and wounded deputy. I can't speak on PD's behalf, but it's obvious to state that they were likely following the same protocol. So, a total of three peace officers to about ten for an officer involved shooting incident. You want to know the real life response? Please see below. It's better to ask and get information about a scenario before instantly pulling the negatives out of it to try and make something an issue, that really isn't one to begin with.
  5. I’m going to try and be resourceful here, so please don’t think that I’m trying to be an ass. These are case laws that, if roleplayed realistically, are completely legal. I’ve yet to see cops pull out M4s for street fights, but I do see them deployed pretty frequently for any situation that might become violent pretty quickly - but as is LSPD’s policy. The reason why I believe a lot of illegal roleplayers suffer major consequences by legal roleplayers is all about how they act. If you give an officer or deputy a single lick of suspicion that you are affiliated to gang, have a weapon, or may be a potential threat then you are opening the door to these case laws below. They will be used and abused, and it’s up to the player (both IC and OOC) to understand them and when they are abused, which opens up the door for other legal involvement against the departments. end all be all, you act like a gangbanger and you’ll be treated like a gangbanger. If you go around (like I’ve had happen to my deputy time and time again) screaming “fuck twelve” “fuck the sheriffs” and tossing up gang signs, then you should expect a poor time and strong consequences. I’d suggest looking into a few documentaries on how most gangs act and react to police presence, and the roleplay at GTA-W is mostly the opposite from the outer shell roleplayers. I will admit, that PD and SD are quick to go overboard on some situations but I believe it’s habit because most situations end up with them being blasted or bodied in less than a second if they’re not prepared. I hope this is helpful to some extent. If the police reasonably suspect that the suspect is armed and dangerous, the police may frisk the suspect, meaning that the police will give a quick pat-down of the suspect's outer clothing. The frisk is also called a Terry Stop, derived from the Supreme Court case Terry v. Ohio, 392 U.S. 1 (1968). Brendlin v. California, 551 U.S. 249, was a decision by the Supreme Court of the United States that held that all occupants of a car are "seized" for purposes of the Fourth Amendment during a traffic stop, not just the driver. Pennsylvania v. Mimms, 434 U.S. 106, is a United States Supreme Court criminal law decision holding that a police officer ordering a person out of a car following a traffic stop and conducting a pat-down to check for weapons did not violate the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution.
  6. I’ll toss it up the chain and see if we can add it. I appreciate the feedback.
  7. What civilian positions would you suggest? a lot of the true civilian posts are all related to crime analysts, examiners, or intel. Which, unfortunately, is limited because of the script. I think personally I can add in a medical examiner (coroner), case managers (mental and physical health agents), and possibly desk workers and receptionists. the issue is that with the non-sworn individuals is that it’s not something that would always be active or even supply a great amount of roleplay, a lot of it would have to be scheduled through /Jrequest or a 991 call unless the person roleplaying that position didn’t mind standing at a desk for a handful of hours and possibly see 1-2 people. any other ideas?
  8. I am looking to purchase an apartment or house that fits the following requirements. - 2 Bedrooms - 1 Bathroom - Kitchen - Living Room Obviously some of this is able to change if the offered residence is to our liking. The budget we have is 200K-650K. Please post serious offers only or email me directly at [email protected] Any offers will have a scheduled visit and walk around prior to confirmation or purchase. Thank you!
  9. I appreciate that heads up. Didn’t realize that... please retract my bid. @KevinFF
  10. I’ve had some very good interactions with Sureno and AB gangs on my LEO. However, I will say I found it extremely irritating for me and four other deputies to take our break and join in by watching and playing some basketball with some bangers on the backside of Chamberlain, only for that entire RP instance to be interrupted by a hit being happening in the parking lot less than 20 feet away from five deputies. Our attempt to get on a near humane level with some gang members and learn more about them was ruined by this. So to the suggestions above about PD/SD not respecting or willing to learn, it’s hard to do so when you’re constantly interrupted by shots ringing out. It’s not like we can ignore them, otherwise people stare at us and expect us to do the cops duty of running to the shots. I personally would like it if all the gangs weren’t crowded at Chamberlain, Davis, and Grove. Spread it out over the map so we don’t have a designated warzone... used my phone for this, sorry for poor wording and typos
  11. I think I need to step in and give you a refresher on the scenario you're speaking about, simply because you weren't there. I'm not sure what you heard or who told you what, but that doesn't matter - but as the gang member that PKed that cop, I can assure you that it was roleplayed out thoroughly. If you have questions about the gang's roleplay and it's thought process you are always free to inquire with it's leadership or as Ethanol stated, report it directly to FM. I personally would advise against using a situation you weren't present for and making up details about it to further push a narrative. There were three groups present. 1. The gang, the Barrio - 12 members strong only at this scenario. 2. The police officers, 2 were present, and 1 FD was present. 3. Civilians. A total of 3, not counting the other four that were fighting on the side of the Barrio at the time. No sirens were on, no lights were on. There was no dash cam on. The bank was further away and all shooters were from across the street and in an alley. As far as the final murder of the officer, it was done right behind his cruiser and out of sight of any cameras - as the situation has already been looked into and I've already discussed this with other police officers and fire department to make sure all avenues were covered on a fair ground, as the police were presently trying to get as much information as possible to move forward on an IC basis and with the limited data they could get from available sources - they couldn't move forward with anything. As far as the penalty for actions, I think we can all say we are on board with this. I don't see a reason why anyone shouldn't be, but you also have to understand that this is a double edged blade and when you're talking about putting away characters for their crimes, especially for "life sentences" that this means the law and police department will have to do two to three times the work they're doing now. What I mean by that, in example, is that they can jail someone for 2-3 days or more for their crimes and have very little evidence pointing to the fact. If you're talking in the future of having a CK-life sentence, then you'll need actual evidence and not just suspicion. Thanks!
