  1. I think just being able to throw a different type of ball between two characters would help with some passive RP: e.g. have a variety of balls - footballs, baseballs, basketball / volleyball & beachballs the ability to /use them and equip / display them on your character & with a command, throw them to another person nearby. This could ultimately lead to more scripting with the inclusion of mini-games sports, but just being able to do that would lead to more fun & RP on the beach and sports fields / parks.
  2. #metoo This is the same officer along with a colleague that did exactly the same to me without due course yesterday. Both him and his colleague accused me of being under the influence, refused to breathalyze me several times (when I asked for an opportunity to prove my innocence), and instead resorted to physical restraints - even though I'm tiny and offered absolutely no resistance. The officers refused to breathalyze me and instead cuffed me, pushed up against the hood of a vehicle and this man ran his hands all over my body in a search. The entire experience was humiliating and felt disgusting.... not to mention entirely unnecessary. I was not charged with being under the influence, at no point did they even seek to breathalyze me. This was just an excuse for this pervert to get his thrills. This was completely unnecessary, I'm 5'6, barely over 100lbs and offered no resistance.
  3. I think as already mentioned, one of the most difficult things with Legal RP is that there is so little scripted IG options outside of 'socializing' and being the 'Cop', in a what is essentially a game of 'Cops and Robbers'. If you play characters that aren't interested in either being in a gang / mob vs law enforcement, there really isn't a huge amount of support via IG mechanics to support you. Cars and property are obvious attractions but we have to remember those sit equally in the illegal world as well - in fact arguably more so, because they get to steal them, commit GTA and / or street race them without the same fear of reprisals. A couple of things i'd like to see are: Sport activities - Such as being able to toss a football or baseball and hit it with a bat. Health Insurance & more indepth medical gameplay - One of the largest differences between the US and EU is how healthcare is almost entirely privatized and I'd like to see huge medical bills for those without insurance. This adds more legal game play because you actually sue your attacker to pay your bills and damages. Additionally, I'd like to see scripted injuries take real time to heal and a system whereby if you go for regular treatment, injuries would heal and recover faster. These injuries would have an IG impact on your traits - a slower movement speed for a leg wound etc. Realistic time & effects for drugs (especially alcohol) - Most drugs should last >1 hour & I'd like real game impaired driving and for it to be far more obvious for police to see who is under the influence of various drugs - specifically alcohol because the amount of people I see drink driving is staggering.

  6. Script fighting unfortunately is terrible in GTA and allows for the most unlikely of scenarios. When I hear female characters boasting about beating up a guy who's twice their size, I cringe at the lack of IC realism. They certainly aren't RPing intimidation or fear. Unless physical damage could be modified to take into consideration people's attributes such as height and weight, I really don't see a work around besides trusting people to RP their characters size & gender appropriately.
  7. Just a quick update from me. ULSA has been approved to create internals for some of our University buildings. Moving forward, I would like to keep the refurbishment process as IC as possible. This means Chancellor Hamilton and her Cabinet will be taking ownership at an IC level & take responsibility for interviewing prospective architects and designers, reviewing existing resume's and agreeing legal contracts for this work. The intention with these initial designs is to get our university campus up and running, so we have spaces to RP and they contain essential University features. While I see there could well be room for more than just the below (as these buildings are fairly large), I'd consider the minimum requirements for this to be: 1) Reception 2) A few offices for senior faculty 3) University library 4) Lecture Hall 5) A couple of classrooms (with a different feel e.g. a science lab / comp science room / art room?) - obviously we may only start with 1 or 2 of these depending on space. Student Dorms will also be a feature at ULSA but this has already been agreed by a player who's shown significant support for our project.
  8. Unless the word 'relationship' and ERP are synonymous on this server, the two are in my opinion, very different things! Relationships, whether friendships, rivalries or business contacts are integral to any kind of worthwhile RP. Without them, I can't see how you can have any kind of meaningful or rewarding RP. I think closer relationship bonds (such as siblings or cousins etc), are only really meaningful if you can RP regularly with the other individual. When I've seen players do this in the past, typically one of the players isn't around as often or stops playing. This leads to the feeling of them sharing something like a sibling bond lacking the immersion it would otherwise have and so it's quite hard to persist the RP unless you can find a player who's willing to invest the same time and effort that you are.
  9. Vacancies Updated Key Vacancies I'd like to keep as much of our university setup IC and RP'd where possible. Please direct interest to myself of Chancellor Hamilton. This means that there is a rare and exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to partake in legal faction RP that involves the the setup of the ULSA project. They will have a large amount of autonomy in there role and where we are unable to RP IC and need to resort to OOC discussions with Admins etc, they'll be kept up to date with any conversations that have taken place by either myself or Chancellor Hamilton. Any applicant must be willing to dedicate this role as their primary character and they must declare if they have characters in other factions as this is likely to be of concern unless concessions are granted. Additionally, it is expected that any applicant will have both an extremely good Admin record as well as no criminal history. (We'll let parking tickets go!). Vice Chancellor of Legal Affairs. The setup at ULSA will include working with Property Management and Local Government alongside the University board and Chancellor of Business & Finance to agree the contracts for the purchasing / leasing of University Buildings as well as working with architects to arrange University Internals. Additionally, this role will be responsible for managing legal queries / responsibilities and obligations of the day to day running of the faction. Vice Chancellor of Business & Finance The University is seeking an individual who has experience and is skilled in managing faction finance to meet ULSA's financial obligations. It is expected that the Vice Chancellor will work closely with Legal Affairs and the University board to agree budgeting for ULSA with Local Government and Property Management. In addition to agreeing budgeting, the Vice Chancellor will show aptitude in creating additional financing opportunities for ULSA to ensure the universities financial growth. Vice Chancellor of Human Resources The University is seeking an individual with experience in Human Resource management who's responsibilities will include: Planning and coordinate the faculty to best use employees' talents Resolve issues between faculty and students Advise faculty on policies like equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment Coordinate and supervise the work of Deans, professors and their support staff Oversee recruitment and hiring process Direct disciplinary procedures
  10. It's ULSA, (state / city), the same naming format as UCLA - C being California, LA being Los Angeles. It did take me sometime to stop typing USLA tho!

  12. University of Los Santos San Andreas "Quisque comoedus est resumo ad nauseam." The University of Los Santos San Andreas is a faction that focuses on providing University lifestyle roleplay. The campus buildings are based upon UCLA University. History of the University of Los Santos San Andreas The history of the University of Los Santos, San Andreas starts in 1919 when Assembly Bill 626 was signed into law, which turned the facilities of the San Andreas State Normal School into the Southern Branch of the University of Los Santos. After moving to its new campus in Morningwood in 1927 it was renamed ULSA and has since expanded to become a leading world university. The Present ULSA university prides itself in being one of the nations leading centers of academic excellence. Featuring regularly in the nations top 50, it boasts a faculty that includes several award winning experts, a nobel prize winner and the support staff to ensure students receive the very best of American education. Not only that, ULSA university demonstrates an impressive sports facility, frequently featured on national TV and is home to the famous ULSA Beavers team. In recent months, the almost instant departure of it's seating Chancellor and leadership team along with the replacement of incoming Chancellor, Sophia Hamilton has led many to question as to what caused this seemingly instant disruption. Rumors of Scandal seemingly hushed and as of yet, fervently denied. OOC The remainder of this post is OOC and describes what our faction offers, is about and as a legal faction, expected behavior. This thread and below posts will be updated over the coming weeks as we complete our online registration forms and install a leadership team to support the upcoming academic year. ULSA - Vision The vision of the faction is to create an alternative to illegal factions where where people can roleplay as legal (mostly!), characters in an American University culture within GTA:World. A focus on lifestyle: Even in the real world, students spend on average less than 5 hours per day in lectures on campus. This leaves a large amount of time for students to become part of University life. While education will be part of ULSA RP, it will not be the sole and only focus. This isn’t limited to, but the focus will be on creating RP both within the ULSA community and the wider Legal world of GTA:W by creating links of interaction, dependencies and opportunities between both governmental bodies and affiliated businesses. Whether this be sports & cheer-team try outs, sunset beach parties, camping excursions, fraternities, loud, late night parties which have the neighbors complaining or just quiet milk shakes & a donut down at your local business, the focus is for ULSA members to have fun and enjoy their walk through university culture. Student Enrollment / Faculty Careers In time we expect to move a lot of our processes to a ULSA website, however in the meantime this is being managed via our discord channel (See link below). We are accepting students for the upcoming academic year as well as faculty members interested in a career where they will help shape the future of our states most prestigious university. Potential students should fill out the student application form and people interested in a career at ULSA university would be best to express interest in faculty recruitment or contact Chancellor Hamilton or one of her cabinet for more details. Education The focus on education is to provide fun for all parties involved. No-one wants to sit still for an hour in silence while being lectured to, so any formal education will have an emphasis on player engagement rather than sitting silent and being dictated to for an hour. In addition to formal education, ULSA will seek to drive cross faction RP by a process of experience days where students & faculty will arrange and attend work experience and educational activities with third parties. This may include a student spending an hour or two a week with the Medical or Fire departments, or perhaps an aspiring journalist might request from the faculty the opportunity of spending some time with one of the news networks. Additionally, there will be the opportunity for guest speakers to visit the university and possibilities for the university to host external events such as hosting a political rally or address from the city Mayor. ULSA Faction Leadership With a faction focus to university lifestyle, ULSA will be led by a combination of the Student Union President and Chancellor of ULSA University along with their respective seconds. The two branches of Student and Faculty will work together to bring compelling and enjoyable roleplay for those wishing to take part in both Student and Faculty run events at ULSA. It is intended that these roles will be filled with players demonstrating both excellent roleplay ability and a willingness to invest time in arranging and facilitating events for ULSA university. ULSA Board The faction will be run by a board of 4 players consisting of both Faculty and Student leaders and their seconds. Both the Faculty and Student bodies will be supported internally by their respective Student Union and Faculty Cabinet. Player Behavior Legal Faction ULSA is a legal faction. This means that your character is expected to behave in a primarily legal manner. The faction accepts that students will sometimes go a little astray, so fairly minor offenses are likely to be overlooked at an OOC level (such as underage drinking, minor recreational drug use, attempting to fake 21+ ID's). These will carry IC punishments if discovered rather than OOC ones. For more serious crimes, if your character has a criminal record and a list of offenses such as murder, extortion, serious drug offenses, sexual assault etc, then your request to join the faction will be denied. If occurring post acceptance these are grounds for immediate expulsion / dismissal. Background Consider your background when creating your character. Being young at university, it's expected that most students will not have access to the funds to afford high performance cards and houses. In fact, you're far more likely to be in a mountain of student debt, desperate for a part time job to help fund your way through University. Without even considering living costs and rent, fee's at UCLA are over $13k per year. Add to that the cost of living in one of the worlds most expensive cities for ~4 years and it's very easy to see how most graduates are paying off debt well into their 30's. To that end, when making a character for ULSA, consider this and think what a reasonable amount of cash would be for you to have. Are you a rich prep? If so, then you might have a nicer car and clothes than most of your peers (while mommy and daddy fund your exuberant lifestyle), but even preps tend not to their own homes and are far more likely to be living with a fraternity. 13. For criminal faction people wanting to join, the answer isn't black and white and will need to be considered on a case by case basis. 1) OOCly - characters aren't allowed to be a member of more than 1 faction without permission from both faction leaders - so it's not entirely up to myself as your gang leader would also need to agree OOCly. 2) If you've already got a criminal record for serious crime, then the university is extremely unlikely to accept you. I won't say impossible as we haven't as a faction decided where the line is between a straight refusal because of priors and where the line between serious and no so serious crime is. Off the top of my head (and I stress, I will talk this through with LFM and heed their advice), concessions might be given for great RP and a good admin record. I do see room for a 'trial' period, where someone wanting to make a better life for themselves after doing something like a non-lethal but semi serious assault charge could go through an IC RP process (via faculty interviews and meeting students without being a total knob cheese), to gain approval and acceptance. Perhaps even having character witnesses from good standing members of the community such as doctors and psychologists vouching for the individual would be an option depending on the prior crimes / background etc. A few things I think you should consider: The IC realism of paying huge tuition fees - unless they're serious about making a better life for themselves, why would they endebt themselves to such a huge degree (Just course fees at UCLA for instance are over $13k per year, before living costs)? The OOC expectation your character will be splitting their time between both factions fairly evenly. The OOC expectation that your character is now part of a legal faction and will behave in a mostly legal way - is that going to put you at odds with your crime faction, or will they be comfortable seeing one of their own trying to make good for themselves? Those are just some thoughts to consider & it is something ULSA needs to talk about in more depth. With the above taken into account; If you're genuine I'm not ruling it immediately out, however if you are looking to join a faction and still play a gang member on campus, then we won't be the faction for you.
