  1. Detailed Description I know what you're thinking, drugs don't have any positive effects and yet they have real world use, for better or for worse, and I think it's time to bring a bit of incentive to the extensive drug market that exists in the game. Say, you're a long-haul trucker. You do some L O N G hours, you can't really take your eyes off the road so you can't plop a little TV on the dashboard, but you find your eyes tiring after these seemingly endless long shifts and nothing seemingly helps you keep your attention to the road. Until you get some meth of a less-than-savory colleague, or maybe a bump of coke. All of a sudden, the shifts are flying by, sleep is the last thing on your mind, you're putting the pedal to the medal because you feel more alert, and you're raking in the paper because even after a 16 hour shift, you're still asking your boss for more deliveries. Creating an organic market for drugs that don't really benefit you other than in roleplay scenarios or specific applications isn't particularly easy, and creating demand for the products becomes even harder because drugs, unfortunately, aren't very cheap or affordable for the average Joe. By creating an incentive for people to take drugs for non-roleplay reasons, such as added benefits for jobs. People doing trucking jobs who use stimulants like cocaine, adderall, speed or meth could see their handling and top speed increase, Xanax and other benzodiazepines can help increase your accuracy/reload times/recoil, ketamine/PCP could help heal the player character and temporarily increase maximum HP, etc. The added bonuses of these effects would mean more opportunities for criminal roleplay, or even non-criminal roleplay as it would create realistic situations for people where one who normally wouldn't might suddenly be confronted by the police at a traffic stop, etc. Relevant Commands/Items Most drugs within the existing drug system has some sort of real life application that could make sense within the realm of roleplaying. As previously mentioned, stimulants could provide benefits to driving, benzos could provide benefits to aiming/gun handling, etc. How will it benefit the server? There will be an increase in roleplay related to the drug market as anyone can be affected now, whereas within the current existing drug system there's no real reason to risk taking drugs for most people unless they're roleplaying some criminal role, or are running a homeless character, or for those characters where it makes sense. I'll be expanding on this topic, but I'm at work at the minute so I just wrote out what I could.
  2. Detailed Description So I've been doing the trucker job for a bit now, and I randomly had a bit of an idea that could help incentivise certain IC professions to use drugs for specific reasons. For example, (long haul) truckers tend to use meth/cocaine to stay awake and "alert" for long periods of time, chefs use coke to help with the long and often arduous shifts, etc. For example, giving people on the trucking or mechanic job who are high on coke/meth a higher top speed in their job-related vehicle at the risk of getting caught by the police driving under the influence, chefs would be able to get orders out faster, people withdrawing from a drug while driving could have trouble steering, and the list goes on. I also thought that there is some potential for a script where people who are in accidents and are treated by paramedics/nurses and surgeons could have in-game negative benefits set by the EMTs/surgeons so that when the wounded/recovering player leaves the hospital, depending on the temporary or permanent wounds they're left with, a debuff in the form of a limp that slows the player character's walking speed would limit the player's walking to a slow crawl, and the only way to help the pain and get rid of the limp temporarily would be to treat it with Oxycodone/other opioid painkillers. This would create an organic way of characters becoming addicted to certain substances, as I feel now it's all very much a choice to become an addict in game. Relevant Commands/Items The relevant items are already scripted into the game as drugs such as meth, coke, heroin, etc. are all present. Relevant commands could be commands such as: "/setinjury left foot" for EMTs and other medical personnel treating victims, "/timeuntil" so users can check when they'll need to redose by before they start experiencing withdrawals. How will it benefit the server? It will benefit small time drug dealers and large criminal organisations and factions because their clientele base multiplies exponentially because there's an incentive and a risk to using drugs and becoming addicted, creating more of a chance for criminal characters to sell outside of their friends circle/faction and makes drug use make sense in terms of roleplay, as now it's purely a choice to become addicted, and not really an inherent risk that comes with life in modern day society. The drug market in the game would create potential for people to profit off it directly and indirectly, whether it's through partaking in criminal activities to sell drugs, or if you're just a chef looking to get through the long 14 hour shifts, or someone who's trying to treat their pain.
