  1. This is not an argument. Once you're signed in and on the map it should be "as IC as possible" but it's moderated where necessary. Especially, at times, arbitrarily. Now, if we're meant to believe that Facebrowser is a website/corporation with no employees, exists only for the City of Los Santos, etc then I think you all have a point. I wouldn't say you must not be allowed to be stupid online (ICly) either. But moderation does and should happen as rather than being an exception it's simply the norm on Facebrowser and it absolutely stretches any reasonable suspension of disbelief. Of course, like...that's my opinion dude. But I think it's a reasonable one.
  2. Right. The point is to stop punishing people who aren't acting out of malicious intent in the first place. And -hopefully- not to make arbitrary value judgments along the way. Make objective rules that are meant to curb behavior you don't want. The rest should be left up to the players. Just remember I was kicked from my connection because an Admin disagreed with my AD wording. Don't do that. Don't ever do that.
  3. Frankly if you cannot keep IC and OOC straight you are either incompetent or lazy. People can take breaks...this is a question of skill or competence not one of UI. I'm not certain why you'd think it to be anything else but responsibility. It doesn't make any difference that people get jailed daily for bad portrayals. I will say though that sometimes administrator actions are arbitrary. I can put in 100 hours of perfectly mundane or perhaps 'immersive' roleplay, living the life of a character...and then get kicked at random for an AD that an admin decides isn't up to their personal quality assurance standards. I wouldn't mistake administrative actions on people as being the sole arbiter of quality by a long shot.
  4. None of the above is particularly relevant I'm sorry to say. The fact is that rules are being enforced rather arbitrarily rather than actually being somewhere reasonable for a player to pre-emptively understand. And ADs of a mature rating are consistently posted all day every day. I want to emphasize as well that it's a weirdly specific thing to say that /ad is for Radio and TV....what private citizen in the USA has radio or TV ads? Maybe a cringey public access thing? It doesn't have to be -my- vision of it but a Craigslist or Facebrowser ad....a personal social app or some selling thing makes FAR more sense than some vision of the 1980's.
  5. I feel this is an arbitrary judgment rather than one based on a rule. If you've never read a silly classified AD, been on Craigslist or something then maybe you haven't seen these reasonable, real and yes, humorous examples of people's personal advertisements. I asked why I was kicked without being talked to and the reason given was ,"It's obvious what the intent of your AD was and this server doesn't do silly euphemisms because these ADs are on TV, Radio, etc". If that -is- where these ADs go I'd like for that to be written down somewhere rather than something I couldn't possibly have known. It also seems to be an idea of the world that is about 30 years old. If /AD can't be used by individuals to replicate a Craigslist listing, essentially, I'd like to know that. I've seen plenty of similar ADs and can only assume those people were also just kicked at random rather than being pointed towards a rule. As for the Legal Firearm I have to say that the /ad functions on this server are for getting players together to roleplay...you can buy guns legally from people in the USA. It's not illegal to buy guns privately. I don't see the point in being naive and enforcing a strange metagame that only Ammunations sell guns....unless of course this is yet again another unwritten rule because you -cannot- by a gun legally in the Server. That's something you couldn't know without experience and if you get told off for learning it through experience that's a bit backwards. Also Escort Services are Legal in the USA.
  6. I agree with this. I was just kicked without even being spoken to for advertising for an Escort...something that happens in the real world all over the internet. The reason I was told I was kicked was for wording it in a humorous way. You know...the way that classified ADs have been written since there was such a thing? Frankly the amount of unwritten or vague rules on this server does it an injustice. As a player I'm made to sit with the opinion of some Admin rather than that same Admin enforcing a Rule. Rather than be told there is something wrong I'm done I get shamed and told "I don't think this thing is legitimate and you're clearly a troll" and then kicked from the session with no reason, no warning. It's disrespectful. I know I'm not on a pre-teen on a GMOD server and I -hope- I'm not being administrated to like I am. Broadly speaking get rid of these adjudications for unwritten rules.
  7. The only thing that is silly about this is the look of the run. If you've never unloaded a truck into a gas station job or something in real life you might not know this, but walking at a slow and leisurely pace isn't what you're doing either. People want to hurry. I'm not sure I see this at a problem but there's plenty that I feel is arbitrarily decided here in the first place sooo....I'm not against it either.
  8. If the idea is that I have to post a canned emote staying "carries the box to the place" every single time then I'm just going to ignore that idea. Running is silly and a separate issue.
  9. I'd argue that there's no reason for it to hide your name ICly if, being reasonable, you cannot deny someone a conversation OOCly if they want or need it. BUT, having your name hidden is a foolproof way of allowing you to roleplay anonymity WITHOUT the variable of someone elses etiquette getting in the way. It should mask your name OOCly as well. Masks have a warning every single time you wear them, they're clearly a sensitive and privileged responsibility bearing on the self same etiquette of the user. Involve an admin if you must but there's no reason to decide outside parties must all uphold etiquette to not metagame when we know they simply will if they feel they want or need to. Plus some people just don't have the same standards for metagame and will do things completely unknowingly because of a lack of those standards.
  10. Text roleplaying games simplify this problem by having 'introduction' systems. If someone has /introduce(d) to you, you know them and see their name. If not, you see a short descriptive variable (short man with green eyes). Overcomplicating it doesn't seem necessary if the intent is to encourage or in this case, discourage metagame.
  11. The day this happens is the day more people will probably be idle in their houses...but I wouldn't be opposed if the reason is some communal, IC real life downtime. +1 from me
  12. It might pay to start actually roleplaying...like systemically. Go places by necessity. Don't make meta plans to hang in one spot and one spot only. Lead a life. If YOU play this way you WILL find people as others are already doing it. Right now though the absolute #1 undisputed gatherer of people is Green Blips/Icons and players at their jobs. Without that you'd be aimless.
  13. All of the above is excellent feedback. Of course there are plenty of ways to attack the problem. If there is indeed some Forensics coming and tools like that it's going to probably end up being some kind of stored thing that's easy to get at to inform the RP of the examiner and others in the know. It can pretty abstract beyond all that as well. I think the important parts of what you've suggested are that an admin can set it all to be that bit extra helpful or accurate. Plus you want to consider that we may have the rare time when someone -wasn't- murdered but died. I'm just saying to get it into the pipeline. ....and also get the damn hearses in there so the Funeral procession is lit......
  14. We all want the cream of the crop to take the reins where they're needed. I think people tend to be attracted to jobs that need more effort naturally and they filter through the cracks anyhow. I imagine all these jobs beside the Funeral Home Director/Mortuary Makeup Artist kind of people would need to go through GOV applications anyway. And you could make the Funerary folks have licenses too if you really wanted to. I want this to be for everyone but I also want it for me. I'm ready to do stuff that's rare or undone and I like to be committed to those concepts! So give it a chance if you please!
  15. ***IF YOU READ THIS AND DON'T UPVOTE OR COMMENT YOU'RE DOING YOURSELF A DISSERVICE. LET US HEAR YOUR OPINION!*** Short description: A bundled suggestion including the possibility of after death RP for those who want it. Grieving RP for those who lost a loved one. Medical RP for Government/Hospital/Funerary Roleplayers. A way to inter bodies. The Romero and Lurcher Hearses. Detailed description: This is an extension of my desire to be able to use the Romero and Lurcher but with utility and service to the RP of this server always as a priority. We don't want people dying left and right in GTAW but there are bodies. People die. Those people could have someone along the chain of RP to deal with them...active or not...all the way along down to them being interred in the Cemetery, which we do have! A person can be treated at scene, taken to the hospital, die, be examined (or be examined in the case of a murder with unknown COD) and have a Funeral. Most of this is possible already except for the after part in the case of just the job alone. The Romero and Lurcher are the main pieces of content here and can serve the purpose of loading and unloading caskets. It's very specific but it's something that I know -I- personally want to do and this forum suggestion is the only viable option I know of. I would like to see both Coroners and ME's have something to do as well and someone in kind in their circle of influence that isn't in the same job <-- The Funeral Home! Also imagine selling Life Insurance! Or trying to scam for it! Now the PD and some Detectives have some new work to figure out! Commands to add: /loadcasket, /unloadcasket, /interbody, etc Maybe even some stuff for a victim but maybe we allow people to roleplay that themselves? I don't know necessarily. Items to add: The Romero and Lurcher Hearses How would your suggestion improve the server? By providing a new job, new emphasis on a part of life and the chain between illness/violence, life and death. A lot of professionals touch this subject. It touches EVERY character on the server one way or another. Also two new vehicles which really ought to be in already. Additional information: None at this time
