  2. I think this would negatively impact my quality of life experience IG, particularly as it is coming from Lambchops. This is nefarious in nature.
  3. QoL addition. Yes please.
  4. I would hate to see this being taken seriously. Businesses that are run by people who actually want to run businesses and not use it as a 2 hours per week laundering front are a requirement for passive RP to take place not just for 'civilians' but people who want to conduct their illicit passive RP inside, be it a meeting, or a hangout or a means to passively surveil the public and that corner of the city. Businesses and civilian/legal ventures keep the wheel turning for the server and stop it from becoming one note, outright. I could see what's left of civilian RP tanking even further without these avenues and opportunities. Already, a lot of people just go to their apartments to hang out or look for ways to avoid being actively robbed X many times a week for existing or being in a shootout because they wanted a coffee in-character. That takes people out of the public sphere. That makes them inert as characters. That means storytelling is being cut off at the neck. And that, like this thread, is highlighting another continuity problem this server has. The playerbase and the administration seem very undecided about what is realistic and what is not in a server that is supposed to represent millions of people but caps at approx. 700 players at peak hours. This indecision seems to mean that what happens in-character and what's realistic in character exists almost in a vacuum, moment to moment. It depends on the players you encounter or even the admin if it becomes a report, which is then subject to bias and/or disparate views on server-realism and is subject to change per report. It's not fixed. It's not regulated properly. Continuity and an agreement on the 'roleplay universe' we're roleplaying in needs to be firmly established and cemented.
  5. People do get punished internally for things like this, when it's in violation of the rules or in outright violation of good portrayal. Some of them don't get to play in the faction anymore as a result of it or become barred from progression on those characters for good. Some just get CKed on the scene. This isn't usually the same in reverse by any measure. Acknowledged or not, illegal characters have the upper hand by design because the server wants you to thrive and LEO entities must foremost enjoy, as players, the uphill and often losing battle in engagement with that. So I'd personally prefer to see less of a us vs. them slander match when it's a realism debate. Cops do shit that seem in violation of the rules? Report them. You see things you think are poor portrayal? Report it. You want a debate that might stay on this subject for about 30 mins and 20 replies, open a thread on it and pray it's productive and not another chasm between two groups that absolutely require one another to be relevant.

  9. With the property market being as it is, I'm not sure I'm generally in support of that part of this. House prices in high-crime areas, for instance, are stupidly high because they are, bottom line, houses, either mapped and paid for in a manner that borders on OOC or painstakingly mapped by the owner themselves. The property market is seriously wonky as a result. To include houses and properties as part of this, you would first need to combat the issues surrounding property to make that fair and reasonable or you subject people who are i.e. CKed/NC to lose whatever income that might have provided in full in keeping with the standards the community has created for itself. However, I agree the market is oversaturated with firearms and even drugs compared to a year ago where people actually fought to keep and not always use their handguns because they were expensive or difficult to get a hold of even through their own faction ranks. I recall a player in JTM telling me he had to wait three months through roleplay to be trusted with a gun, and he fought in-character to have the right to one. JTM was also a faction that saw serious longevity on the server as well. I'm interested to see if there's a way to manage poorly or conveniently chosen NCs that enable players to keep these firearm assets they should not have at their player-convenience as this is and should always be an in-character asset with as little OOC influence as possible.
  10. I like these. If the modding team can find a way to adjust the mod to be friendly on the road and not to impact current texture loss in South Central, I don't see why not. It's worth looking into.
  11. Yeah it's kinda whack and the only solution seems to be petty arrests, quick releases, namechanges, CKs etc etc for the cycle only to repeat. So no matter what civilians or law enforcement do with their RP and these kinds of criminals and criminality, it just keeps occurring and will keep occurring. We're approaching DM server status here, not across the board, but in these ongoing incidents where we have maybe 700+ deaths per week. Kinda tragic, not very 'heavy roleplay.' People working continuity really need to extrapolate here on what this server is meant to be portraying, what 'realism' is in the context of this server and maybe reinforce or develop low-crime or no-crime areas so people can actually explore multiple kinds of roleplay that are not murder, gore, death and casual robbery and killing, so on, so forth.
