  4. Not really, no. I've explained this plenty of times in the past. The LA County Jail system is one of the largest correctional systems in the country. Due to a DOJ report stating that the CDCR was violating inmate's constitutional rights because of overcrowding, a massive number of Californian inmates were shuffled to county facilities - convicted felons serving their state prison sentences - with very heavy rapsheets. There are convicted, sentenced murderers currently serving time in the LA County jail system. The intent of a jail is temporary detention pending sentencing. In LA, this is not the case. The overcrowding of the CDCR's facilities has caused them to cook the books by shifting responsibility to local county agencies. The LASD is one such agency. In the context of our roleplay, it is completely reasonable to have state prisoners inside of Twin Towers Correctional Facility even if they've already been sentenced. And given how overcrowded the system would be IC, this would mean that hardcore gangmembers could feasibly rub shoulders with low-level criminals. International smugglers and nationwide mobsters are very rare in real life anyways. However, members of La eMe or the Aryan Brotherhood have been documented to abuse the courts in order to get transferred to county jail facilities in order to manage segments of their territory or transmit orders. It's as simple as committing another crime while behind bars or getting a fake subpoena from a corrupt lawyer. There's an incentive to go to county facilities because 1. it's travel and 2. they can easier manage their operations closer to home. Federal prison wouldn't work because to be arrested for a federal crime, a federal agency has to investigate you and arrest you. You then go to federal court, are sentenced on federal charges, and go to federal prison. This is why the majority of people in federal prison are there for interstate charges and white collar crimes relevant to the FBI. This would require us establishing an entirely separate infrastructure for a very niche section of the server that many people would not roleplay, and in addition it would require a number of our prosecutors and judges to learn literal US Federal Law to effectively execute. The alternative is a state prison - solely state based - with a state department of corrections. However, I will enlighten you as to why this is a bad idea. A faction solely devoted to policing an interior will always be overshadowed by patrol-based LEO factions. It will always play second fiddle. It will always be impossible to maintain its activity. We've experimented with this before on other communities and it almost always fails unless the criminals are active. As I have pointed out, you can very realistically roleplay a hardcore heavy-hitter in the county jail setting. This shouldn't break your immersion. If you're a member of an East-Coast mafia or a transnational organized crime group? It might be unrealistic. The LSSD has more explicit functions than the jail. I was to be a member in a SADCR-based faction on this community in 2017. A counsel determined that a solely-prison based faction would not be feasible. I don't think it'd ever be feasible in our setting. Criminal roleplay is already relatively disorganized and very much still in an infancy stage in many metrics. There is significantly more legal roleplay on our server than illegal roleplay. When you don't have large hierarchies and history backing them up, it's going to be disparate groups of 5-10 players popping up once every three months to roleplay correctional officers and inmates. Outside of that, I don't see it happening. As a member of illegal FM, dividing our inmate population into two different segments like this would kill any sort of custodial-based inmate roleplay opportunities. I'm telling you right now that a state prison run by a state-based Department of Corrections would more than likely fail. Feasibly, I could see an opportunity in the future to open a single state prison block to cater to "heavy-hitter" alternate criminal characters as a sort of hub for members of AB/eMe, but the faction managing it would have to be composed purely of alternate characters. It can't be an actual infrastructure or something long-term. But this would require activity in the jail to pick up speed and more criminal roleplay. As the server grows, I figure this could be something to explore. I don't see us reaching this point within a year, though. A state prison would not resolve the current activity issues in jail. It would exacerbate them. Jail is already dead at certain times. Dividing this already small population into two settings destroys the potential for roleplay. Plus, I just don't see how a change in scenery would change anything. What we need is more scripting and more motivation from illegal roleplayers to engage in this setting on an active basis. People can't expect to be spoonfed roleplay. They need to create the roleplay themselves. Scripting augments that. This issue isn't on SD's end, either. We are actively staffing the jail the majority of the time. There's just no inmates to interact with. Jail is already in the process of being remapped and we'll be implementing some new scripting soon to support that.

  5. I don't know how popular or unpopular this opinion is, but I believe that used car dealerships have to stop. It's an OOC abuse of the system that GTA World runs on. How? Unlike real life, most people on the server change cars really often - as often as multiple times a day which, in turn, makes car dealerships the most profitable businesses on the server while, in real life, they would barely function - as they do. There have to be rules regarding what can and can't happen because, as it stands right now, anyone can just do an ad saying they're running a dealership and that's it. I'm speaking from experience. While I ran Denov Dealership, I've seen dozens of different dealerships, some more official than others - from Autopia to Wilson's Dealership that was selling cars through SMS. That's not realistic under any circumstances. Moreover, the profit made from these businesses - which is all IC, that's the issue - is enormous. You probably don't have exact numbers but I can tell you what we made so you can get an idea. Two people running the dealership made in a day around ~300,000 in profits. On bad days, $200,000 and on good days, up to $600,000. That's just profits. I've personally managed to go from $300,000 in total assets to $2,500,000 in two weeks. Again, without breaking any rules and fully role-playing it (including an office, checkups and everything). Some make less and some make even more but I consider this to be an exploit and I want to know what other people think about it. And some first-seen insider information, to clarify what I'm talking about, here are my profits during the last week of activity. There's two sheets, check them out and see what I'm talking about. CLICK HERE Objectively speaking, I don't find it fair for people, myself included, to be making half a million in profits in a day while others make $3,000 from bartending or as little as $2,000 from taxi-ing around all day.

  6. Hello everyone. Upon discussing with some people of the community, I found that this is a common complaint for people. When working roleplay jobs, as we all know, you have to be either; Actively putting /mes out every minute, or, Actively typing something out every minute in IC chat, so that the one minute timer doesn't stop counting. These are the rules regarding active roleplay shifts as far as I'm aware. These two rules create some problems for the people working non-script jobs such as; Having to put out /mes that either make no sense or written for the sole purpose of keeping the timer active. People spending several hours on job, only getting paid for that 1 hour of active roleplay during worktimes because customers were scarce. Thus turning the roleplay jobs into something of unrewarding, tedious processes. A rebuttal you may come up with to those complaints and problems; Roleplay jobs should not be for the sake of money, but roleplay. You shouldn't be getting paid for standing around anyways. I understand these come-backs. But let's look at the real-life counterparts of "roleplay jobs" and answers to those rebuttals; Even if you're roleplaying the job, for the sake of roleplay and not money, this doesn't mean it's supposed to be something you should spend your whole day for some RP possibilites and get rewarded for a small portion of the day. Promoting roleplay should be number one priority, that should come with rewards. If you were wroking a retail job, a kitchen job, a tattoo artist etc., you wouldn't get paid for 1 hour of work for your interaction with customers, but your time spent there. Now then, what could be done regarding this, without promoting idling after you /startshift? Maybe; Rework the timer system so that the timer doesn't stop for several minutes after you put out a /me, maybe 5-10 minutes. Decrease the time required for active roleplay timer wage. Let the /me or actively typing IC increase the time spent by longer intervals. Example: Each /me counts as 5~ minutes going towards your active roleplay timer. Considering how some script jobs such as Garbage Man pay 3.1K for ~20 minutes of no roleplay, I believe actively roleplaying for 60 mins straight without missing a beat should either be made easier or more rewarding. Thank you for taking your time to read and your in-advance constructrive criticism or ideas of your own. Excuse me for providing wrong information if I have any regarding the rules.

  8. Police got a huge advantage over people that RP a regular criminal. Unless you get really lucky there is no way to evade LEO without a insanely expensive car. They also have the help of VOIP. The fact that there is no regular traffic like in real life also acts in FAVOR for the PD. As they barely loose eye contact due to the fact there is no traffic you can swerve through. It really doesn't matter how good of a driver you are if your car is slow, ther aren't enough corners you can take in that short of a time with the cars acceleration on default if you are driving a low end vehicle. There are a lot of cases in real life where 2004 cars for example loose around 6 cruisers just because they swerve and cut through traffic and run lights / intersections. There is just not enoigh traffic on the server. I'd rather have the cars nerfed than upgraded to be honest.

  11. Only thing I would prefer is them having actual shops to do them in, not random parking lots. Its already been proven possible with Octavians dealer and it looks beautiful. The sooner they transition to the indoors design and not random parking lots it will be just like any normal business.

  13. Essentially all prison rp is a building. There is no real script, imagine if the civilian world had no script at all, no mechanic shops, no clothing stores, no buying food, nothing. That's essentially what prison rp is. Just creativity and imagination. That only holds to a certain extent. Add a barbershop script, add a cards script, add a commissary, allow prisoners to develop there own economy as it is in the real world. Prison rp can be really specifial with ACTUAL script support. That's the issue, not the segregation further of inmates based on there crime but actual script support.

  19. SENIOR HOUSE THERAPY SESSIONS Session Nr. 1 Haddonfield’s House for Seniors, 11th June 2020 *CLICK* Dr. Friedman: Alright, that’s up and running… Where is my…*Rumbling noises in the background, as if someone was searching through papers* Oh, here it is. We’re all set. Hello, Miss Strife. Would you prefer if I called you by your first name? Dawn Strife: I don’t care what you call me, Doctor…- uhh…- Dr. Friedman: Doctor Friedman. Dawn Strife: Right, whatever. As long as I don’t have to listen to your non-sense for too long. Dr. Friedman: You seem very angry. Why do you feel that way? Dawn Strife: No, not at all… I’m just an old hag, my daughter is a whore and my grandson is useless. What makes you think I’m angry? Dr. Friedman: Right. How about a little bit of drink then? Dawn Strife: Now you’re talking, doc. Dr. Friedman: Jen?! Bring us two glasses of water, please?! Dawn Strife: Water? Is that your “game”, doctor? Dr. Friedman: I’m not here to play a game, Dawn. I’m here to help you. Dawn Strife: You can start by bringing a bottle with 40% alcohol in it. Dr. Friedman: *Chuckles* You know, you’re very witty for your age. Dawn Strife: And you’re very boring for your age. I tell you, if you and I were younger, I wouldn’t even look at you. Dr. Friedman: Do you feel like you’re old? Dawn Strife: Oh, hell no, Friedman! Not at all! It’s the society who thinks that! The young with their… technology! We didn’t have that back then and how happy we were! Dr. Friedman: Do you feel like technology is to blame for that? Dawn Strife: Of course it is! Do you see kids nowadays?! All they do is sit around, staring into this little hellish things of theirs! Have you been to the park recently, doctor? Dr. Friedman: Can’t say I have… Dawn Strife: Of course you haven’t! You’ve been too busy babbling nonsense all day in here. I’ll tell you, the kids at the park, they just sit around each other, holding these… these… “smartphones”… and they’re not even talking! In my age, if you wanted friends, you had to just… go… and talk to people… Oh god damn it, you’re making me talk too much… *begins coughing and catching breath* Dr. Friedman: Calm down, Miss Strife… Why don’t you tell me something about your childhood instead. What was that like? Dawn Strife: *Imitating a different voice* “Granny, which don’t you go online? You can meet people your age and talk to them and stuff.” Oh, Liam, you little shit, when I get my hands on you…! Dr. Friedman: Miss Strife! Please… Dawn Strife: Oh, god damn it… What was the question? Dr. Friedman: Your childhood. What was it like? *A noise of a wooden door opening can be heard in the background, as all the voices stop. Suddenly, two very small thuds can be heard.* Jenny the Assistant: Here’s the water you asked for. Dr. Friedman: Thank you, Jen. Miss Strife, this is Jenny. My assistant. Dawn Strife: Hello Jenny. You look like a fine woman. Tell me…uhh… could you by any chance bring me something… stronger? You know, something with a little bit of spice to it like uhh… a rum or…something… Jenny the Assistant: *Chuckles* I don’t think Dr. Friedman would like that. Dawn Strife: …I don’t like Dr. Friedman either and I’m listening to him…Oh, for seventh heaven’s snake… *A noise of door closing can be hard as Dawn finishes her sentence.* Dr. Friedman: I think you meant seventh heaven’s sake? Dawn Strife: Are you mocking me, doctor?! Do you have any idea who I am?! What I’ve achieved?! The Garden of Eat’n! The most acclaimed restaurant in Haddonfield! Have you ever been to that restaurant, Friedman? Dr. Friedman: I’ve been there, once or twice, and I admit, the food was good… Dawn Strife: Good! I hope they spat in it! If Allan was here, we would…- we would…- Dr. Friedman: …What’s the matter, miss Strife? Dawn Strife: Allan… Dr. Friedman: W–Who’s Allan? Dawn Strife: My husband, you prick! *Sobbing* And I miss him so, so much… Dr. Friedman: That’s alright, miss Dawn. Let it out, tell me more about Allan. Dawn Strife: *Sobbing* Allan was… the love of my life… he was the most amazing person I’d ever known. He gave me everything. He made me so happy… Oh god… Why’d you have to leave me here all alone, Allan?... God, I miss him… Dr. Friedman: Where is he now, is he alive? Dawn Strife: We used to do everything together… we used to ride bikes… and go camping or umm, hunting and uhh… sometimes he’d fish… used to look take trips and look at sea together… Dr. Friedman: I’m sorry, miss Strife… Dawn Strife: *Crying* Dr. Friedman: What about your daughter, miss Strife? Dawn Strife: …. Dr. Friedman: Dawn? Dawn Strife: She’s a damn whore!… And I love her! So, so much! And my grandchildren, they… they’re the best grandchildren… I wanna go home. I want to see them all… *Crying uncontrollably* *CLICK*
