  2. The Making of a Chechen Russia’s best killers learned their skills fighting in Moscow BY MARK GALEOTTI | MAY 24, 2018, 11:10 AM One of the most feared figures in the Russian underworld: the wild Chechen. Back in tsarist times, the Chechens’ skill and ferocity had been proverbial in Russian circles. Gen. Alexei Yermolov, imperial viceroy of the Caucasus, was especially exercised by this “bold and dangerous people,” and one of his staff officers admitted that “amidst their forests and mountains, no troops in the world could afford to despise them” for they were “good shots, fiercely brave, [and] intelligent in military affairs.” Their ability to hold their own against modern Russian firepower and numbers in the long and brutal Chechen wars of the 1990s burnished their image internationally. What has earned less attention, however, is the distinctive role that Chechens have come to play in Russia’s vast criminal underworld. As many of Russia’s other gangs have successfully pursued ambitions of becoming political players and business empires, Chechens have focused on cornering their traditional market niche: the inflicting of severe violence. The Chechen criminals, often described as the Chechenskaya bratva or “Chechen brotherhood” (and occasionally Chechenskaya obshchina, “Chechen commune”), have failed to prosper in the same way as the other major criminal networks. This reflects their clear and conscious determination to buck the rest of the Russian underworld’s trend of diversification into business and politics. Most Chechen gangs have tended not to evolve beyond their core specialty: the use and threat of violence. Perhaps remaining true to their bandit roots, they continue to be heavily involved in extortion and protection racketeering. However, in many cases they have become in effect the “protection racketeers’ protection racketeer,” acquiring networks of client gangs (from any ethnic background) from whom they simply demand tribute on pain of gang warfare. The police, often their competitors in the protection business, have guns and badges, but the Chechens have something far more terrifying at their disposal: guns and folklore. Russians are, in a way, victims of their own literature. Nineteenth-century works such as Leo Tolstoy’s Hadji Murat and Aleksandr Pushkin’s Prisoner of the Caucasus imparted a sometimes admiring, sometimes horrified picture of the Chechen as a fierce primitive who would never shirk from a fight, an impression only solidified by their performance during the Chechen wars. As a result, there is a general assumption that, to quote one gang hanger-on, “you don’t mess with the Chechens. If you challenge them, even if they know they will lose, they will fight, and they’ll summon their brothers and their cousins and their uncles and keep fighting. Even if they are going to lose, they’ll fight just to bring you down, too. They are maniacs.” There is a perverse bonus for the Chechens in being considered implacable, indomitable maniacs: It makes sense to cut a deal with them, even if the logic of force and connections would seem not to be to their advantage. This actually has made Chechen-related gang violence less common since the mid-1990s, for the very reason that people are disinclined to challenge them. The efficiency and ruthlessness of the Chechens has given them a powerful “brand name.” So too has their perceived honor. As one of their victims put it: A lot of people are afraid of the Chechens, but they are very good people when you get to know them. They are loyal. They don’t double-cross you, and they are honest people. … They can do anything. If I needed a driver’s license, tomorrow they would bring me a new license. If I needed legal help, or someone to fix a problem with my apartment, they can help out too. They are really serious people.”

  3. Short description: A command that allows you to hide your illegal items in bushes, or other discreet places temporary without worrying about the fact that the items disappear after the server restart. Detailed description: I think it would be a huge step up in realism if you have the ability to temporary hide a gun in bushes, or dig a small pit in the forest where you hide all your cirminal items. It leaves you with more options, instead of being forced to hide all of your illegal items in your property. I understand that it's easier to /drop item, instead of adding a whole new game feature. Thing is, though. Whenever you drop your items, and the server restarts, your stuff are gone. I was thinking whether it would be possible to add a command, that supports this feature. Instead of constantly being worried about the fact that your items are going to disappear when you drop them. Commands to add: /stashitem Items to add: N/A How would your suggestion improve the server? I'm sure it will have a positive impact on criminals mentality, and their way of hiding stuff. It's very rare that someone in real life hides bulks of weapons, and drugs at his own personal address. Additional information: N/A

  6. This is not a "prime example in your favor", Maple deployed this by himself working on the new chat feature. As I wrote on discord, your behavior is getting really annoying to a point that you'll be muted if you keep going further. Criticizing the development team and its work is fine if you also work with us to help the company gets better.. but wait, this is not a business, it's a community. I already explained that each developers work on things that they like because it's a passion work, not a paid work. Maple isn't going to work on your ad queue, he doesn't even have access to the code to do that. This will be my last warning about this, because you're the kind of player that demotivates everyone from ever developing again for free.

  7. @liq We are not in school, we are playing a game, online. I don't believe the players asked for a teacher who stands behind them with angry eyes. Guides are cool, forcing players to write things the other way... not really. This "teach new players how to write" approach is simply bullshit. No, the intention behind this was to remove something @Maple personally don't like. We don't even have a script to close sentences with dots or start sentences with capitals if the player fails to write it correctly but we have a script to remove a community meme.

  8. I don't have many questions relating to the JSA faction, I would like to say the amount of effort that has went in to it shows and I think it's a good mediator for both Legal and Illegal roleplayers. Going to give a small run-through of my one experience with the JSA as a faction which helped me out a lot as I feel the arrest came out of sub-par RP, had a desync collision with a player and they didn't want to void and I didn't report afterwards and took it IC.. Rolled past them and continued on my way before they then rammed into my car with theirs in front of a crowd, after role playing some injury and stepping out of the car this person came up to my character aggressively and I brandished my firearm (out of fear, little intention to shoot as there was a crowd of 40 people nearby) because of the large crowds when the police got there, I feel they didn't get the correct story and decided to arrest me (which is fair, it's all IC) and they took me for processing to which I plead not guilty. Now, one thing i'm going to point out is that for the charge I could've been back out on the streets in no time, where as the court case had me in prison for a longer time although that being said, I heard that the court system leans in the favour of the player at court which if they do (And it felt that way for me) is positive because it gives people a reason to /WANT/ to go to court where as me personally I attempted to go through court to be able to retain my licenses. Through-out the court case I didn't actually have to partake much other than two posts on the actual court proceeding and a dialogue with the Public Defender and my sentence was dropped to "Failure to abide by state orders" which is a misdemeanour and I was allowed to keep my licenses which was great at the time because my character was doing security, the only negative thing to happen was after it was dropped is that every-time I got stopped by cops they would call back up thinking I was a felon with a PF which caused a few issues.. This happened three times until someone finally got it wiped. Overall, the Judiciary systems bring a lot to the server and continue to develop and it's certainly something the people behind it can be proud of ?

  10. It'll prove to be detrimental to jail activity which is already fluctuating and, on average, scarce. Less people will take the opportunity to role-play with the police and will take the first exit out, which will be respawn after a shooting rather than get arrested. It's a good system but it's a system that's being enforced without being too in touch with the vast majority of criminal role-players and factions who're just starting to flourish more in recent months. I agree that everybody's held to a standard, a standard where police role-players seek to give back quality police role-play and not to police the server and that's translated by giving everybody unique interactions. That doesn't happen all the time. It's a lot of power weighed on from a police role-player perspective and that used unwisely burns bridges between legal and illegal role-players. It's important to raise the bar on what's admissible to go past JSA and what isn't on those who role-play police. It's hard to do that in the realm of this game where getting into long term investigations and palpable evidence makes people do the most rudimentary tactics, such as taking weird candid pictures of people standing on the corner of the street. It asks for much more stringent standards of performed arrests and it asks for factions to self regulate themselves in what kind of bookings they approve, and what they don't. I'm working on a system in the Sheriff's Department where supervisors review all bookings while this system flourishes to make sure charges aren't put up at random, stacked, or otherwise misinterpreted. The concern I have with this system is the following — it asks for even more out of police role-players. Some people play for an hour a day around here. It usually takes longer than that to write and figure out what's necessary to do to properly file the necessary prerequisites to arrest someone. What this results in is an abundance of police role-players just giving up on arrests because they're too much work and not enough fun. I know for a fact I've role-played police on this server for six months and only made 3-4 arrests where there was no other way but to make the arrest. I also know for a fact it is known that arrests take up a lot of time on both the arrestee and the arresting person so we need to work out something that streamlines this process and makes it easy to understand, and easy to navigate. Else it's just cumbersome for something that's forum role-played when all we should be focused on is to keep people in game, keep people emoting, role-playing, and keep faction threads active with proof of those interactions, and overall entertainment. All in all, it's good role-play. Politically speaking this opens the opportunity to hold some police command people accountable for crime rates so you've got a realistic system where sergeants, lieutenants and captains tell officers to start working on plea deals and on filing felonies as misdemeanors to reduce crime rates and court appearances for the departments. I know for a fact I'm going to do something like that where I role-play.

  11. I was at the 3rd Precinct in Minneapolis when it was burned down. I have never felt so safe in that area of Minneapolis then I did at those protests, until the police showed up. People were taking care of each other, handing out food and water. When the donations of supplies became overwhelming they started handing boxes of supplies to local families, making sure no one in the area had to worry about if they'd have food in this time of unrest. I have a lot of mixed emotions about what I saw, my entire world view has drastically shifted. What I saw was so drastically different then how it was being portrayed on the news it made me angry. What I saw was a community venting it's anger at a horrible situation, all the while attempting to remain peaceful. But then the police, the people I've always said aren't all bad started inciting the violence, provoking the crowd. I watched peaceful protesters get tear gassed instead of the looters breaking into a building down the block, I saw police practicing drive by shootings on protesters with rubber bullets and mace. I saw cops purposefully driving over memorials and destroy them as they drove peaceful protesters away from the site of George Floyd's death. The police didn't just abandon they're precinct. They abandoned the entire area, they let it burn and be looted. When asked to help and intervene they responded with "Isn't this what you wanted?" clearly okay with the idea of letting the community suffer as an act of revenge. If your focused on the looters and the arsonists? Your apart of the problem. Buildings and businesses can be rebuilt, a man can't be brought back to life. The media's focus on that one aspect of the events unfolding is entirely a strategy meant to vilify the protesters and drum up sympathy for the police. Sympathy they do not deserve.

  12. Miguel "Zippy" Zapatero circa. 2020 Miguel "Zippy" Zapatero is a 22 year old Southern-Hispanic gang member residing in the Culver City area of western Vespucci Beach. Zapatero is said to affiliate with the Project Boys clique of a notorious Sureño street gang that goes by the name Culver City Boys 13. This gang pays homage to the Mexican Mafia and is alleged to be involved in petty drug trafficking, extortion, assault, auto theft, robbery, and murders in the Vespucci area. This gang is considered to be extremely violent and most recently was alleged to be involved in the shooting of Tomas Gomez, a 21 year-old Hispanic man shot dead in the Vespucci Beach area. Origins - Family History Bernardo "Clepto" Zapatero, Miguel's father, is a Culver City Boys 13 OG who is currently serving a life sentence in Bolingbroke State Penitentiary for the second-degree murder of Darnell Dautry, a Vespucci Shoreline Crips affiliate. He birthed Miguel with Isabella "Wicked" Vicario, an affiliate of the Slauson Locos clique of the Culver City Boys 13 gang. Isabella was gunned down along Magellan Avenue by two affiliates of the Alsace set of the 18th Street gang, only three months after the birth of Miguel at Del Perro General Hospital. After the murder of his mother and the arrest of his father only five years later, Miguel moved in with his uncle Joaquin "Popeye" Zapatero. Joaquin was known as the neighborhood dope dealer for the Winos clique of the gang and the younger Zapatero learned the narcotics game from his uncle at a young age assisting him in the small scale trafficking of cocaine, cannabis and crack in the Bay Avenue area of western Vespucci. The entirety of Miguel's family has been sucked into the gang lifestyle to some extent including Miguel's older sister Reynata "Spooky" Zapatero who was suspected to have been involved in the fatal shooting of LSPD officer Brian Brown during an attempted hit on rival Inglewood 13 gang members until her overdose on prescription pills on September 3rd, 2019. An event Zippy is believed to still be distraught from to this day. A group of City Boys affiliates during the early 2000's. Upbringing Miguel grew up in and around the various cliques of the Culver City Boys street gang and is familiar with all of them. Miguel's family history essentially made him an honorary member of the gang and he was blessed into the Project Boys clique of the gang, a rare phenomenon where an aspiring street gang member is allowed into the gang without having to go through the gang's initiation. Miguel received this privilege at the young age of thirteen and has been actively banging the gang ever since. Miguel's primary claim to fame within the street gang is an assault he committed on three rival Shoreline Crip affiliates who he left bloodied and beaten one summer morning at the age of 18. Zapatero fell into the typical gangland vices of marijuana, and liquor at a young age and now uses them to cope with the recent loss of his sister to a drug overdose. He also recently lost his primary source of income within the neighborhood after the arrest of his uncle on drug trafficking charges stemming from his uncle's involvement in a local drug ring organized by senior La Eme statesman Arturo "Tablas" Castellanos. Rebuilding Zippy was spotted in and around the City Boys territory affiliating with notable PJBS shotcallers Joshua "Sniffy" Ojeda and Andrew "Midnight" Losa after the incarceration of his uncle. Miguel was suspected to have been in a depressed slump after the murder of Reynata and the arrest of Joaquin. His clique, Project Boys, was falling apart due to gang injunctions and increased pressure from rival gangs. Zapatero became in desperate need of money to support himself and became even more increasingly involved in drug deals, and armed robbery in the Vespucci area. His gang began to slowly expand their drug and firearm related interests through achieving direct connections with Public Enemy Number 1 and the Mexican Mafia through senior Culver City Boys heavyweight Victor "Big Midget" Arroyo. This allowed the gang to push back many of the rival surrounding gangs such as Vespucci 13 and Del Perro 13. However, several gang related shootings including the shooting of a LSPD gang unit officer by Miguel "Dummy" Coranza, a notable CCB13 affiliate, caused the LSPD to crack down further on the gang. This resulted in the incarceration of several prominent Project Boys affiliates including Gabriel "Houdini" Ramirez, Joshua "Sniffy" Ojeda, Matthew "Insane" Salinas, and even Miguel Zapatero himself. These arrests significantly weakened the clique for a time, but thanks to the efforts of Andrew Losa and Victor Arroyo; The clique was able to maintain it's territory along Melanoma Avenue. Culver City Boys 13 graffiti along Melanoma Avenue. Los Hemelos Twin Towers County Jail, sometimes referred to as "Los Hemelos" by Spanish inmates, is the county jail for LS county. This is where Miguel Zapatero would spend his two consecutive prison sentences. His first proper incarceration was on firearm and drug trafficking related charges after the LSPD raided his stash-house and discovered a large amount of MDMA along with an AK-47 rifle, and several handguns. While serving his first sentence, Miguel came in direct contact with Border Brothers 22 affiliate Martin "Arana" Cano who was serving his sentence at Twin Towers. Miguel and Martin hit it off developing a brief business relationship on the streets. He also met Leon "Stomper" Ramirez, a prominent Hillside 13 OG, and Josue "Little Bandit" Zelaya who is suspected to be the current keyholder for MS-13 operations in LS. All these connections would serve Miguel well in later years when he returned to the streets. However while locked up, Miguel was hit with a 2nd Degree Murder warrant for the shooting of Vincent Cala and whisked off back to court. He was eventually found guilty of this murder, but due to infringements of his 5th amendment rights by the LSPD during the investigation. Miguel was given a conditional release with time served. He has only returned to the streets in recent days after these two jail terms and It's unknown what the future holds for Zapatero. Personality Miguel Zapatero is a overall chipper individual with a cheery, relaxed demeanor. He has a love for Modelo and old-school cars forged by his father who used to take him to car-shows and let him cruise around in his low-rider at a young age before he was incarcerated. He speaks basic Spanish which he learned from his also now-deceased grandmother, and is slightly overweight. He spends most of his time with fellow gang members hanging out around Bay City & Melanoma Avenue in western Vespucci, and is considered a mentor to younger affiliates coming up in the neighborhood.

  13. Suggestion template Short description: When calling 911 irl, the dispatcher will typically let you know that people are coming your way and how long you have to wait until help will arrive. Depending on what type of situation you are in, this will help determining the best course of action. (e.g. if you are in conflict with people, do you remain at location or do you flee the scene? / if your house is burglarized, do you barricade, flee, or fight for your life? and so forth) While we're probably not going to be able to incorporate an approximate time into those scripted responses, unless you guys would consider adding automated, but rough estimates based distance. One thing we can do however, is let the caller know that emergency services are on their way. Detailed description: As of right now, we do have the OPTIONAL /niners cmd, with which we can easily navigate, and mark ourselves responding to calls for our own use. I suggest the following additions: - making it mandatory practice for all emergency services to mark themselves as responding, when they tend to emergency calls. - adjust the current automated 911 response, to where it will do something like ask you to stay on the line, and then notify you (possibly with a 1-liner) that emergency services are on their way when a member of FD/PD/SD marks themselves responding to your call. As opposed to hoping for the best, and perhaps not realizing that there's a lack of fire department and/or law enforcement faction members or that they're simply tied up with other incidents. Commands to add: "Just" implement a notification to the 911 caller, similarly to how players are informed when a cab is responding to their call. Items to add: N/A How would your suggestion improve the server? Gives players a tangible response, as opposed to a "x department is on their way", when that may actually not be the case at all. Deter people from leaving a scene, because they'll assume that no one will show up after a few minutes. I realize it's not always feasible to imitate rl practices to a T, but I feel that this would be a reasonable compromise between realism and practicality, w/o adding too much of a burden on emergency services. Using /niners to attach yourself to a call is a quick process imo. Additional information: N/A

  16. +1 on this. Having the points stack up permanently might discourage new players also. Newbie Joe and his first 2 adrenaline thrill evasions is gonna get stuck with his mistakes. And if the 1 hr+ arrest process doesn't run him off, the difficulty of the lawyer/court case system, point system, and everything else will. Meanwhile.. What this system meant to do was to stop people from stacking up felonies over and over again, and having the same character out on the street two weeks later doing the same thing. Guess what? These people don't care if they take a CK for it. They will be right back with another throwaway character to do the same thing. Rinse and repeat. All this does is hurt criminal rp in exchange for more convoluted court cases.

  18. The problem with GTA 5 as a whole is that there aren't many text based RP servers so players often have to join this one as there first. With servers like GTA W you are usually expected to have basic knowledge of RP especially with /me and /do etc commands that most RP servers share. I know from being a SAMP player originally when I first started RPing it was kind of the norm to start on a lower level RP server to gain some experience and or watch a lot of youtube. GTA W is quite strict when it comes to RP standards and they do make it hard to lay low while you learn, if there was a server that could help players learn the basic ideas of RP it'd help. But I think GTA W isn't trying to get players who've never RP'ed in there life, they are trying to get players who have some experience / knowledge. From what I can gather they don't mind helping players learn the server but the player not knowing anything at all isn't there job. If a player actually wants to RP I feel it is expected they do some research themselves and learn. There's no need to be godly at roleplay or a professional and know the server off by heart. When I started to RP many years ago now I hardly could spell, but I learned specifically so I could play (not sure how my grammer is still as you can probably gather, it isn't the best). GTA W is always trying to provide high quality RP, sometimes to high quality. WIth how big the playerbase is if they lose a few players as they are not willing to learn themselves in there own time it isn't going to make to much difference. Just how I see it, I really wish GTA W could cater for everyone but that is not easy to do. They try there best though.

  19. I am not sure about that, we ain't actually playing GTA here, we are roleplaying in GTA settings. But I have to quote the latter, cause this way the jail will be filled quickly with life sentences, so it is up to management to tailor things up here accordingly to server population and legal system framework right? People playing criminals should think twice before doing something off the bat you know. This isn't 90s anymore, cops are not afraid of the mafia anymore and neither are judges. Crime does pay if you do it carefully. This system however needs more players dedicated to actual portrayal of justice, from uniformed cops up to the judge. It's not only about criminals caught on the street, but also about those who actually roleplay their crimes properly, which needs CSI of course. Cause you know, shooting a random person during a robbery is okay, but fingerprints on the casing will be there if you forget it on the scene and it does not matter if you had a mask or not.

  20. Screenshotting 101 This guide isn’t about how to properly edit screenshots with a software. It’s quite easy in 2020, but if you’re lost, be sure to check out Screenshot Guide (Elite) by @Declan. This guide will be about what’s generally acceptable and unacceptable and what looks good and bad. The guide itself is written by Douglas_Nyswonger and I take no credit for the contents — I merely polished it, reformatted it and removed/reworded faction (or game engine) specific parts. It’s strongly recommended however to review these few points before posting screenshots. 1. Posting quality screenshots Be minimalistic. You don’t have to add ten layers of brushes, effects and all that for your screenshots to look good. Find the perfect angle and add some well-arranged text to it. That’s the trick. Always make sure your text is readable if you include it. Don't scale down the text of your screenshots too much, to the point where it's too tiny to read. Don't butcher your text's outlines or colors, to the point where you can barely see it. The text is the most important part of the picture. Unless you're going for some try-hard blurry distorted picture quality for some reason, you would want your pictures to be crystal clear. If they're low in quality or are blurry around the text, it may be because your software lowers their quality or the image site you upload them to does it. For example, if you upload big pictures to a site like Imgur as an unregistered member, their quality gets decreased. If you save your pictures as JPG instead of PNG on some versions of Windows Paint, their quality gets decreased. You can work around these problems if you want your picture quality to be better. 2. Arrangement of text Be sure to arrange the text properly. Emotes, what the characters say and transactions. You shouldn’t have advertisements, admin messages, private messages, ooc messages etc in your screenshots — they look out of place and should not be shown. Limit your script messages. Don’t add ten green messages stating that you gave some items to someone. It’s clumsy, makes your screenshot boring. Have an emote instead describing the contents being passed over. Show and don't tell — give a gist of what's going on, but don't go crazy with the amount of text you put on. 3. Irrelevant roleplay in screenshots Make sure that your screenshots relate to the core of your roleplay, or what you try to portray. Post screenshots which showcase your character appropriately. Crop out irrelevant lines which aren’t relevant to the scene you’re showing off at all. 4. Blank screenshots Don’t post screenshots with no text present without a strong purpose. That purpose can be anything from showcasing the cool factor, or being self-explanatory where text isn’t necessary.Otherwise, they’re useless and just there to boost your post count with filler material. Don’t post a picture of your character sitting on a bench. Don’t show a picture of your character standing next to a random person. It can pop up sometimes, but for the most part you should be aiming for something different and more meaningful — always aim to showcase dialogues and actions in your screenshots. 5. Solo roleplay Pictures of roleplaying alone should only be posted if they have a purpose. Usually this purpose is related to a previous scenario. Nobody wants to read about a guy arguing with his NPC mother in a block of text or a guy driving around the city alone. That has no purpose. 6. No metagame-worthy screenshots Your character talked shit about their buddy? Great. Keep it to yourself. Making a screenshot out of it will do more harm than good — it’ll only incite the person to metagame that. You’re planning to hit a rival faction tomorrow? Don’t post a screenshot of it. It can potentially lead to metagaming and that ultimately eliminates the organic and fluid aspects of roleplaying. Blank or completely blur out names if you have to. Sometimes even if you hide the names, people can still figure out who you're talking about, so keep that in mind. Remember to hide people's phone numbers in pictures. If there's a corrupt officer working with you — blur his name too. 7. No detailed explicit/grotesque/sexual content Don't post detailed roleplay of you having sex with some girl. Nobody wants to read that. Intimate scenes should be approached lightly. Let the viewer know you were with a partner, but don't go in details about it. The same can be said about roleplay involving torture or rape. Don't showcase such roleplay in great detail in your screenshots. 8. No screenshots of senseless killings Only post screen shots of murders if they are thoroughly roleplayed from start to end. The build up, the reason, the planning, how it happened, text, emotes. That's showcasing good roleplay and giving the scenario validity. Don't just post a picture of yourself aiming over another player in death mode. What does that achieve or showcase? Nothing. Don't just post a picture of a guy with red text over his head. If there is no real backstory or roleplay shown, nobody would care. 9. No "character introduction" screenshots Don't post screenshots of your character standing in front of a wall with a bunch of emotes explaining his whole background or persona. Emotes how someone is a resident of the area, goes to school but plans to drop out, lives with his abusive mother, drives a dirtbike, likes going to the swap meet, and so on. It's information nobody needs to know or wants to know. Show such traits in-game through role play. If you want to write an actual story about your character with actual text — feel free to do so instead. Don't follow this "character introduction" screenshot trend. 10. Don't quote piles of previous screen shots you posted Don't clog the thread unnecessarily by quoting your old screenshots as some prologue to your new screenshots. Put them in spoilers instead. If people want to see old screenshots — they would go to old pages or look through your posts. Put build up screenshots in a spoiler if you want to include them. There's no need for people to post the same screenshots multiple times through quotes. 11. Toggle the HUD Disable your HUD by pressing F7. It looks out of place and has no place on a screenshot. 12. Grammar and punctuation Everyone makes mistakes now and then, but grammar is important. Your pictures would look bad if you continuously make errors in your speech. Use more basic words if you have to. It makes your text harder to read if there's a typo every few lines. Also keep in mind that your sentence always starts with a capitalized letter and ends with a full stop (or question mark/exclamation point). 13. Be sure what you role play is correct If you ever get technical in your roleplay, you need to be sure you have the correct terms and idea of what you're roleplaying. If you're cutting your dope with another substance, research the correct one. If you're buying ingredients to cook meth, sell weed, smoking, drinking make sure to pick one that a store might sell in real life. If you're a gun dealer role playing in-depth around weapons, make sure you're aware of the models you're handling. If you're fixing a vehicle's part, make sure you know what you're doing. Examples can be endless. If there's a mistake in your role play, the whole scenario wouldn't be valid and people can rightfully call you out on it for making the whole scene look silly. Enjoy.

  23. That's not elitism, that's enforcing requirements to join. Imagine if you go at 20 miles an hour down a highway on the left lane with your hazards on and the trunk of your car open with the seatbelt indicator incessantly pinging at you. Then when you finally steer into a ditch after the officer in the cruiser behind you has been screaming at you to pull over for five minutes, you go "Hiya officer, sorry about this but I have no idea how to use this thing. Is the accelerator on the right or is it the other pedal?", there's not a police officer in the world that would start explaining to you how to operate the car and let you continue. You're supposed to know how to operate the car before you drive it, or have someone next to you that is in the process of teaching you. But you arrange that before you head onto the highway, not while you're already on it. And I keep talking in metaphors it seems, but GTAW is that highway where you already need to know what you're doing. Setting realistic requirements and enforcing them isn't elitism. Considering everyone "unworthy" because they are not on your level that is "high above" the requirements is. Elitism is considering it bad roleplay to do "/me grabs the cup and takes a sip of the tea." as opposed to "/me wraps his index and middle finger through and around the handle of the blue Chinese porcelain cup, bringing it up to his lips and taking a gentle sip of the Earl Grey flavoured tea, which has cooled enough to not burn his lips or tongue but still at a pleasant 56 degrees Celsius." Both are entirely acceptable ways to say the same thing. But not accepting "/me grab cup and drink tea" isn't elitism the way I see it. And this is an idea I could get behind. Because reading a guide usually does not work as well as actually getting thrown into a scenario with people that are either learning as well or are teaching. People improving actually get live feedback and such on their actions and how to better portray their characters. Especially if not just "what" and "how" are discussed but also "why".

  24. lol everyone is reading so much into the difference which is pretty simple rpg -> stat driven roleplay rp -> lore driven roleplay rpgs revolve around stats while rp lacks the definitive framework of stats where players are placed upon a clear ladder which makes (imo) rp more difficult

  25. There has never been a single case of a player banned for using FiveM or RageMP. As soon as you don't modify your game by yourself with specific mods to go online, you're good. You can use 1 GTA / folder for RageMP and GTA Online, no issue with that.

  26. Hi. The first iteration of the Grammar and Emotes guide was way back in 2016 and this is an updated version I've brought up to date to fit GTA World's needs and address what I personally like should be addressed in modern role-play after playing around here for a month. Credits to J. Sforza, Kipps on Simeon (Douglas_Nyswonger). Notes: I will be updating this guide constantly to fit demand or necessity. I don't know if the guide'll impact anyone but it'll at least give one an insight about what quality role-play has been for a while in terms of both grammar and emotes, which are all important when you role-play in a text-based universe. DICTION (ETHNIC AND FOREIGN CHARACTERS) It also also applies to any other language, such as French, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic and any other language you might choose to use in accordance with your character's education. This chapter shall remind you of apostrophes: they're used to represent ownership and a missing letter in certain words. They do not have to be mixed with slang. Words like wanna or gonna are to be written without them.CORRECT USE'Ey, yo*, what up dog? 'S up wit' that shit, mofucka?'Ight* nigga, cool shit though, know what I'm sayin'?INCORRECT USEA'yo, whaddup dawg? Sup widdhat shit, mofockah?"Ayo" is an acceptable substitute.Aight niggah, kool sheet dough, knawhatimsayin?"A'ight" is an acceptable substitute.Using more than a few worldwide common foreign words is also wrong. Bonjour, ese, pinche, cholo, chola, konichwa, spasiba, ciao are, per example, allowed. This applies to any other foreign language. Mainly, common forms of greeting, thanking, saying good bye and baseline insults are accepted. Anything else spoken in a foreign language shall be done through "(<insert language>) phrase in English" — "(Spanish) So, I met this guy. We're set now, bro. He'll bring that shit tonight."WOULD/SHOULD Using "would" or "should" in emotes is completely wrong. Your character only does or doesn't. You also use would/should when you say "he'd" or "she'd", and that shouldn't be the case. ELLIPSISThe correct form of ellipsis is three dots (…), other variations you see people using are mostly wrong. Two dot ellipsis (..) is wrong use, and isn't a thing.CORRECT USEPecker Wood says: I seem to remember...INCORRECT USEPecker Wood says: I seem to remember..Pecker Wood says: I seem to remember..........DASHPlayers on GTA World often use the dash in text to show that their character has been interrupted, or maybe got tangled in his own speech. In such situations, it's usually when people make common mistakes. A dash and ellipsis (-...) combination IS NOT A THING, and it's completely wrong.CORRECT USEPecker Wood says: What ab— (ALT + numpad 0151 generates this long line)Pecker Wood says: What ab--Pecker Wood says: What about--INCORRECT USEPecker Wood says: What ab- Pecker Wood says: What ab-...Pecker Wood says: What ab...-Pecker Wood says: What ab-.-*Never use one single dash, because that's used in certain terms or composed words, such as "well-being" or "on-site".APOSTROPHESPlayers on GTA World typically use apostrophes when they want to show that the word they pronounce either has a missing letter or ownership of something. The wrong use of apostrophes comes when people try to combine them with slang. Full words like gonna or wanna don't need an apostrophe.CORRECT USEPecker Wood says: He was gonna help me, but I saw him runnin' away.Pecker Wood says: Yo! Why are you walkin' alone, homboy? Get in my car.Mike's car is there.Valdez' car is there.Simmons' car is there.INCORRECT USEPecker Wood says: He was gonna' help me, but I saw him runnin' away.Pecker Wood says: Yo'! Why are you walkin' alone, homie'? Get in my car.Lopez's car is there.Simmons's car is there.Tyrells' car is there.*When it comes to Z and S, there's only an apostrophe at the end. Any other letter has a " 's " for ownership of something.EMOTES (/me, /do)Emotes are used to perform actions with your character. It shows other people what your character is doing. Players make the mistake of sometimes trying to tell their story through them, which incites meta-gaming. Players also make the mistake of straying away from the third person (there never should be a "you" or "your" or "yours" in a /me, /do or any command that refers to others.CORRECT USE* Pecker Wood rocks back and forth on the chair. His hands can't stop shaking.Skin Head says: What's wrong?* Skin Head wears a white t-shirt.* Pecker Wood has a tattoo.INCORRECT USE* Pecker Wood is terrified after the recent murder he was forced to commit by his friends.* Pecker Wood is a known gangster in Mirror Park.* You would succeed. (( Pecker Wood ))* Reactions? (( Pecker Wood ))Important and final notes about emotes1. In modern role-play, such verbs as "has" (possessive) or "is" (being) are accepted. This means someone doing "/me is a twenty four year old female." is a completely accepted and, honestly, preferred substitute than "/do X has 24 y/o.". Players shouldn't be afraid of using such actions, since having something (aka "/me has a purse.") or being (in terms of physical existence) are actual visible and existent actions. However, such actions as "thinking" (especially specifying about what in an emote) aren't accepted, because are not visible and are borderline inciting meta-gaming.2. "as" is wrongfully used by players to determine an "after" they do another action in one single emote. "As" is to be used when: Comparing something to another degree or anything else. ("Your car is as good as my car.") Used to indicate something that happens when something else happens. This is where the mistake pops out, since practically saying "/me reaches for the bottle as he opens it and pours" means you would reach for the bottle, but you're opening it in the same time, which is impossible, and therefore wrong to say. 3. Both /me and /do are for the third person, just like characters should be characters. You aren't your character, and referring to someone else via. these commands in "/me would cuff you" or "/do You would succeed." is completely wrong in general and especially when more than 2 parties are involved in role-play.4. Requesting reactions via. /do is wrong and instigates to misuse of the said command (aka /do Reactions? instigates to /do He would run which translates in /me runs, and therefore is wrong). When you perform an action against someone, you should simply state your action: "/me punches Andrew in the face.", and then give the other party about 40 to 60 or more seconds to type in a simple reaction. Note that they can simply have no reaction whatsoever (so they wouldn't write anything, it is common among new players who do not know what to say because they don't know English very well / they might just do an anim which would show you what would happen, such as falling in our case of punching this guy in the face), therefore you can go on with other actions and repeat the waiting period. Clogging up the chat in small and useless /do's shouldn't happen from anyone.4.1. Use /do only when absolutely necessary to ask reactions or certain details, or whenever you are referring to an animal or an object.5. /do is, essentially, to be used when addressing actions to or about things that cannot answer for themselves, therefore a player has to cover that up for in these situations. This means you should use /do when you would explain what would be seen around a car crash, or when referring to an object or an animal. Furthermore, having descriptions in /do about your character isn't a thing (yes, this means "20 y/o | Muscular Build | Brown Hair | Blue Eyes" in /do isn't a thing). You should either use /me or /ame to state your character's description (such as "is a [age] [gender], has [insert physical details here], and also [insert other physical details]" in an /ame or a /me).
