  1. It's with saddened eyes and a heavy heart that I'm writing this thread. Today was the demise of an era in the civilian role-play in Vespucci. The little corner store known as Rob's Liquor was sadly transformed without warning into an actual liquor store. A stranger outside of the situation would be like; "Yeah it makes sense". And to an extent I would agree. But Rob's Liquor was more than a 24/7 store, it was the centre of some character's role-play, it was a hub for creative role-play. Cops, civilians, gang members and factions often passed by for some quality and fun role-play. Sadly, it was taken from us. The store was the home for many of us, not only is my role-play ruined and destroyed by this little action that was done without thinking, and I'm not trying to point fingers to anybody in PM. But I must say I'm extremely sad on how things were handled, and no it's not about money if anybody is wondering. The profits margins of running a 24/7 is very low. The reason that I leased the store was to be able to manage employees, profits aren't important to me or to anyone working inside the store. A liquor store simply doesn't attract the amounts of players that a 24/7 does. Today instead of seeing my usual 10-15 hourly customers in an hour, I ended up having ONE in over two hours. So for me that's it, there's no point for me to run a liquor store, not only does it make no sense for my character, a store simply doesn't change in less than a day from a corner store into a liquor store. The young kids and teenagers that would come inside are no longer even legally able to enter the store. We were even helping the homeless by giving them expired food and free snacks, it was great. The amount of robberies were also very enjoyable. A lot of the robberies were casual and fun, and properly role-played (for the most part) On an out of character level, this store has been scripted as a 24/7 for over a year now, and I leased it as a 24/7 not as a liquor store. The city already has over six liquor store and within 1 miles of this store there's 2 other liquor stores... We didn't need more liquor stores inside the city, not only the ones currently scripted are struggling with role-play and money, they didn't need extra competition. Three Rob's Liquor were sadly transformed into a liquor store. For me what started as a way to earn money ended up being my greatest and my best experience on the server. I never expected that something as simple as a 24/7 would end up opening doors with quality role-play opportunities. I made so many friends in character and out of character, I'm literally so sad that this role-play for me is now ruined.. I hope that I can get some support from the community regarding this situation. I was even working to make an little intro like a sitcom for all of the employees, even that is now ruined ?

  2. Hello, Let me start by saying this. When the decision was made by Property Management to convert this to a liquor store, it was based solely on the exterior. In hindsight, I have no problems with admitting that this clearly was a mistake from our end, and I apologize for that on behalf of the team. Does it say "Rob's Liquor" on the front? Sure. But in this case, there is a clear history of this place being used as a 24/7 and this thread showcases the impact it has had on the local community, and it would be a shame for that to disappear just based on a technicality. So, how do we move forward from here? Personally, I am going to make sure that it is being reverted back to a 24/7 when it comes to the script, so that the roleplay can continue the way it has for quite some time now. This does however also mean that alcohol will not be sold on the premises for now, and that the conversion might happen in the future when this business is not actually being used by anyone anymore. TL;DR: We jumped the gun on this one, we are sorry and we are changing it back.

  3. Probably not the best thread to do this but I would like to give a big shout-out to Shane Mitchell for the great character portrayal and roleplay standards. Our characters did not come across each other for the best of reasons nor are they certainly on the best terms currently but he surely managed to make my experience and time interacting with him totally worth it.

  4. Maybe the ones in Oakland, CA. Each area is different, we're from the other side of the border (so Spanish is our native tongue, words such as 'Órale' and 'Barrio' are common Mexican terms and are in fact from the Spanish language) and in a state close to the border I'd say(?) Any problems or concerns about the faction please PM either me (Writer) or ElDiablo and do not derail the thread, thanks!

  5. There is an insanely limited amount of civilian oriented places to go that are not revolved around the scene of alcohol. Even more so when my main character is constantly surrounded by the criminal world. This place has been sort of a... breach in reality for him. A place to come and shoot the shit, relax, and enjoy some quality roleplay situations with a constant flow of people. It always felt so realistic - having conversations with one another, only to have brief pauses when others would come inside. More often than not, it has been an experience for those who came. A chance, for all, to have many characters from varying backgrounds that you may not ever get the chance to meet otherwise. If you were in a rush and needed items, that was fine! But those who gave the chance to allow the characters to interact always had an impactful meet (good or bad). Looking back at this store, I’ve found myself coming to this store even when others were closer. From an IC level, it was purely to see if any of these wonderful people were around, for Volk thrived on getting this type of social interaction. On an OOC level, it was because I genuinely enjoy the place - and wanted to give any new people the same vibes and quality that I have been given so many times. I like to think that everyone posting in this thread feels like they have put their own mark on this beautiful center for civilian roleplay. It breaks my heart to see it turn into a liquor store that will seldom be visited. I, for one, tend to stock up on any drinks in a one time purchase whenever something is open - if it even is.

  10. I share this sympathy. My character has spent plenty of time at the store, even working himself up to a manager because of how much I enjoy staying around with all of the roleplay. Now fewer people come by, and it kind of ruined the experience.

  11. It's a really sad situation because my character Ethan Parker has met all of his closest friends through this very store. We had a lot of great RP going, we were helping the homeless, offering free food and drinks for them. New players would come over and get hired, or even come over just to get some connections for their character. Rob's 24/7 was also a big RP hub during the not so peak times when I was manning the store just before I went to sleep, there would easily be 5+ people hanging out inside and outside. As a matter of fact, just before I went to bed this morning we had a group of 4 of us rping inside, then overnight it was just changed into a liquor store. While I totally understand that PM cannot eye every business for its rp everyday 24/7, we at least implore you to consider our case. It almost feels like we're being punished for creating a different and unique avenue for civilian role play rather than the typical bar, club repeat loop we're used to and frankly tired of.

In doing so, they've endeavored to change behavior at scale: to render the general populace mindless, suicidal and hedonistic. Some jump before cars, others toil their days away having compulsive sex. Take back the wells, this must stop!

  14. Foundations of a Menace - The Jamestown Projects. The Jamestown Projects were constructed in the late 1950's, this being only a few years after 18th Street had made a presence in South Los Santos, specifically, E. Jamestown St. At the time it was still considered a small time group of rascals and hadn't grown the reputation it holds today. Around the 1960's, construction on the project buildings was finished and housed by labor workers of the city of Rancho. The occupants being mainly of Hispanic background. Los Santos Government made a choice to also alter street name stretching from Dutch London St. and Little Bighorn Ave. to Jamestown St. due to the projects plotted inbetween. This although did not extinguish the presence of 18th Street, they'd stick to where they started and what they started. Some residents of the Jamestown Projects would also gravitate to the 18st. although not in large numbers. The gang began to rapidly grow only once they'd open doors to people of all race and ethnicity. The already established 18th Streeters, being just East of the projects, didn't pay much mind to the housing and it's occupants. The swift waft of the hand to the West was only given until there'd form another group of delinquents - Jamestown 13. The two'd have neutral relations as they'd both align with the Mexican Mafia until these relations turned hostile. These relations turned hostile once the group on the West had been green-lit by the higher ranking members of the Mexican Mafia, cutting ends lose and leading into daily gun-fire in the city of Rancho, in result, increasing the murder rate in the city only due to the events following the green-light and their close borders. The gang would form a stable and reputable presence in the city of Rancho, having grown in numbers, a lot of members moving from the neighborhood and to other parts of Los Santos, still living in poor areas they'd begin to make new cliques of the gang and continue operations. This would now put 18th Street on the map as one of the largest and most notorious street gangs in all of Los Santos. The Rancho Locos The Rancho Locos are a sub set of the 18th Street Gang. Originally started by locals in the area under Gabriel Lopez, his wife next in line to take lead of the set. Gabriel's wife was a ruthless and strict leader, but due to heart complications her reign was cut short. The only logical step forward was for Lucas to pick up the set as he was always the one to set an example for the younger members. They're settled and located on Jamestown St, just across the Jamestown Projects. Documentated as an active criminal group in Rancho for fifty years on-going. Lucas earned his place at the top with the willingness to do what it takes. It took him a year of compling to anything that previous set leaders had in place for him - he put in work and earned his place at the top. Lucas took the third generation of the Rancho Locos under his wing, taking any troubled teen in the neighborhood with him. The set is known for it's drug distribution in the city of Rancho. They're infamous for renting out street corners which are usually occupied by rogue drug dealers, in the end they get taxed by the clique, any troubles received are answered with violence. The Rancho Locos drug distribution is documented by the South Bureau of the Los Santos Police Department, this also raising their presence in the Los Santos County Jail. This sub-set and the gang in general is known as the children's army, most gang members being in the age group of twelve to fifteen. Members are targeted at a young age due to an easier influence and smaller chance of punishment. Work is put in by the younger members who wish to prove themselves and earn street credit and notiriety from others. Eighteenth street are a diverse group, embracing anyone who wants to be apart of the gang. They have no specifics on background or race which makes their numbers so large and their influence in the streets unavoidable. Joining results in an eighteen second beat-down by other members, the eighteen second rule also applies for punishment. This is what hardens the member, they realize that this can be received by a member which they consider a brother, this makes them realize how much worse an enemy would do, hardening them. Members show affiliation with the colors black and blue. Black is to show their main affiliation to eighteenth street which is usually paired with a black bandana. If a sports jersey is worn, it is usually with the number '18'. The color blue is to show respect to the Mexican Mafia which the eighteenth street members are linked with in the prison system. You can often see members sporting both colors. Affiliation is also shown in graffiti with variants of the eighteen - XV3. Puppet Gabriel Lopez known as - Puppet, was the main overseer of the Rancho Locos street operations in the 1990's. He did this from within the Los Santos County Jail, giving instructions to on-street shot caller - Martin 'Domino' Dominguez. Puppet was a member of the Mexican Mafia and very well known and respected in the prison system. They began working together on Rancho's Eastide in 1992. Domino was an up and coming soldier in the RCLS, known to be very loyal to the organization. They faced a threat when one of Puppet's Mexican Mafia rivals tried to cut into their profits, sending a 'tax collecter' inside of the Rancho Loco's territory to take over collections. On the night of January fourth, Domino and another gunman waited in an alleyway on the Eastside of Rancho and around midnight, Trucko's car pulled in. The two gunman opened fire on both him and his girlfriend, killing both. For this Puppet gave Domino a promotion, appointing him the shot-caller of the Rancho Locos. Domino quickly set out to prove his worth, ordering the gang to step up their extortion rings, having members work twenty-four seven, two shifts a day of collectors. He took an opperation that made two to three thousand dollars a week to ten-fifteen thousand dollars a week, increasing the profits dramatically. These operations were estimated to bring in profits of eighty five thousand dollars a week, due to this Domino established a strict hierarchy within the set. At the top, Puppet, running operations from Jail, next in line Puppet's wife Janie Lopez. She was known as the Senorita - the lady boss, collecting money for Puppet on the street. This succes brought unwelcome scrutiny, federal authorities taking interest in Domino and the clique. Domino had proven too good at the job. On March fourth, 1999, federal authorities raided the houses of Janie Lopez, her sister and her mother based on information they had gathered from wire-taps. In the houses they found stashes of money, in one being four hundred fifty thousand, another stash of eighty thousand and nine thousand. The last stash was a payment from Domino, these raids caused suspicion within the clique that someone had cooperated with police. Rumors went around and Janie Lopez concluded that it was Domino. She convinced Puppet that the shot caller had betrayed them, he sent a letter from prison stating; 'Fumigate the rat'. At his office Domino awaited the payment of one of his collectors, afterwards he returned to his car when suddenly several members of the gang began shooting at the car. Domino was given the greenlight - marked for murder. He was shot five times buut managed to survive, he came to a realisation. After this failed assasination, the gang fell apart and fell to the FBI. An agent knew he had been recovering at a friends house, the Police gathered a warrant for his arrest, taking him in custody. The loyal shot caller, feeling betrayed, turned on Puppet and became an informant. This was very useful for the FBI, causing a down-fall for the clique.

  17. For sale is my 1968 Vapid Dominator. This car was rescued from a barn out in Blaine County. I'm the second owner, as the vehicle's been sitting in a barn since 1971, proven by the past owner. Car was originally red but the paint faded and it had some rust spots that needed fixing. Car was stripped down completely and redone. It had some rust to it which got fixed. Interior got taken apart and fitted with a new dashboard out of a '69 Dominator. Suspension got stripped out and it received brand new parts from QA1 motorsports. This car's a classic with modern handling. The 550 CUI V8 was taken out and replaced with a 427 SOHC V8, infamously known as the Cammer. Vehicle dynoed at 680 horsepower and 590 lb⋅ft of torque. It's paired up with a four speed manual. Finished off in a metallic bronze respray and sitting on original 68 Dominator wheels. It's loud, it kicks the tail end out easy, but if you can control it, it'll grip up like a monster. Available for more inquiries. Plates are NOT included. Looking to get $190,000 for it, negotiable. I'm not interested in trades. Lowballers will be strapped to the hood of an Emperor and paraded around town.

  21. This location generates so much role-play during off-peak hours. It is not unheard of that liquor stores also have a wide range of food and other common items. It truly is a role-play hub with an interesting location and makes "night shifts" fun for law enforcement factions. The people who role-play there are to thank for this, but also the general purpose of the location.

  22. There are tons of businesses where the exterior name isn't used and is something completely different. Half the juice bars are used as just bars!! So the exterior signage obviously doesn't matter on this server. He'll there are tons of custom interiors that don't even match their exterior. Cool beans in vespucci for example. Doesn't fit the look of the exterior or the vibe of vespucci and its a leased business. Which begs the question, why the change when it's obviously counter productive to roleplay being done! On a related note... You can sell liquor in a convience store in California...

  24. @Arez Encryption! It doesn't sound like you are properly encrypting the RPF archives. Be sure any RPF that you touch gets encrypted again otherwise this will happen. The game is recognizing that the file is not encrypted/different from the base game and assumes its corrupt so it replaces it. Let me know if you are still running into issues.

  25. I can not stress how AWESOME the PD threads are! It's incredible interesting to see what you guys are doing outside of the normal interactions we have between cop and criminal. Frankly, it encourages me to RP more with LEO characters knowing they have a thread. Screenshots are something that anyone who does them regularly will not only enjoy but respect. I try to give those players 110% because I know they are looking for quality RP they can showcase. I understand that statement has it's faults but it's the truth. If anyone from PD has questions regarding what's good to showcase in screenshots or tips on how to get started with a screenshot thread. Don't be afraid to reach out! I'd love to help any of you!
