  1. Usually it is Big_Smokes that posts on this thread however this month, I want to cover the upcoming projects for the month of May 2020. For those who don't know me yet, I am roozles, one of the Faction Leaders of the LSPD. I am currently overseeing the Operations Bureau, our "backbone" of the department, both IC and OOC. It has been mentioned before that there were plans for a second area however we did not disclose what that second area entails. I will give you a brief context by explaining on how exactly our Operations Bureau works, who the representatives (internal terminology, Commanding Officers, Directors,...) are in the Bureau and what they are responsible for. The Operations Bureau is responsible for all patrol operations within the City of Los Santos. Our patrol operations are divided in Geographical Areas (currently one, Mission Row Area) that operate from a Community Police Station (currently, Mission Row Station). Each Station houses a Patrol Division (currently, Mission Row Patrol Division) in which our Patrol Staff are part of. The Patrol Staff is divided in several patrols (currently, four patrols) each ran by a Patrol Sergeant and a Senior Lead Officer. In charge of the Patrol Division is a Commanding Officer and Assistant Commanding Officer. To summarize the paragraph: Operations Bureau > Geographical Area > Patrol Division > Patrol As I mentioned between brackets, there is currently one Geographical Area, namely the Mission Row Area. It is currently responsible for the citywide operations as we only have one area. Due to the significant increase in players and faction members, we have decided that it is time to consider opening a second area. We had a discussion about this with not only the Faction Leaders, Faction Management and the representatives in the Operations Bureau, but also the people that will take part in this, namely the Patrol Sergeants and Senior Lead Officers. We came to a conclusion that we will settle our new Patrol Division in Rockford and name it the "Rockford Hills Patrol Division". It will cover the western and northern part of the City of Los Santos, which comes at a great timing with all the new scripted houses and their new owners. When this Area will be launched is not known yet. An interior will have to be mapped, new forum boards will have to be set up and the right candidates to run the Patrol Division will have to be appointed. Now this might not be very interesting to you (the GTA World community) and not what you specifically asked for, however that will now be covered in the upcoming paragraphs. One of the biggest requests by the community is more passive roleplay, community engagement and community policing. It has always been a challenge for us and is not something easy to fulfil. To make a significant change in this, one of our Senior Lead Officers proposed a project similar to something existent in the Los Angeles Police Department. The idea is to have Geographical Areas divided in "zones" or "districts" (the exact terminology has not been determined yet) each under supervision of a Senior Lead Officer. Under this Senior Lead Officer, there will be several officers from the Patrol Division assigned to this "zone" or "district" and make it their primary. They will be tasked with getting to know the community, including local residents and business owners. They will act as the primary point of contact of the department. This might sound like something that is not possible, which is true. You cannot simple know each person that lives there, however an effort can be made. It is expected for these officers to be the one that responds to the nine one one call in that area, simply because they want to know what exactly is going on in that area. A sudden crime spree (i.e. burglaries or robberies), an event hosted by the local residents, domestic violence calls, you name it, they will be attended to by the assigned officers. Does this mean that they can only patrol in this zone or district of the area? No. They are still expected to patrol area or citywide, simply because not every zone or district is as active as the other. This means that the amount of officers per zone or district may vary, depending on the activity and also means that the map indicating these zones or districts may change over time to spread the activity as equal as possible over all zones or districts. This projects is still in the works and what I said earlier should not be taken for granted. A pilot of the project will be launched to trial it in one or two zones or districts and changes might happen throughout the launch, to optimize the project and meet the faction and also the community's demands. This was to give you a global idea of what we are currently working on behind the scenes for the month of May and in preparation for the summer holidays. Next month, we will be giving an update on the matter and inform you about new development. Also, here is the logo for the Rockford Hills Patrol Division, credits to @Lloydski for the design.

  2. Hi. One problem I run into more and more these days is people doing whatever they want, and then throwing out the ol' /me is 13/14/15 and complaining in /b that my actions would be unrealistic when I proceed to tase their ass for pedalling through a police perimeter where the cops have assault rifles out for a gangland hit. With the way the game works, every character looks like an adult, and, on face value, I'm going to take it that way. I don't always have time to /examine everyone at a scene, especially the people trying to run away from my character. Don't get me wrong, I understand that underaged characters are vital in illegal roleplay - so my question is thus: What would be a fair and balanced way to address these issues while still keeping that avenue for illegal roleplay there?

  4. Gangs rely on role-playing juvenile characters. It's a crucial aspect of criminal role-play. We have tools at our disposal that despite them role-playing juveniles, they can still go to jail. Setting an age bar that gets rid of the ability to role-play a kid just because some players suffer from idiocy is no way to fix this. I think you need to take your time to role-play with people. I've had tons of good interactions with such characters. If you disregard them like you admitted you did, they will disregard you too and you aren't getting anywhere. Police role-players need to be givers. Characters in specific areas become desensitized to crime, violence and quickly adapt to having police in the area 24/7. They might be role-playing that. It's why you can't generalize in these aspects. I'm not saying it's not an issue but I'm saying you reap what you sow. If tazing them for riding a bike is the answer then it's no wonder they might not want to role-play with you. If someone deliberately does something stupid, disregard them or correct them and worst case scenario submit a report and I'm sure the staff team will deal with it promptly.

  7. Short description: Make a business blip pop up on the map when opened, instead of having to put up a /bad every time. The /bad can still be used for many other events. Detailed description: I've been thinking about how about when you have a business, gold donator is almost always a must in order to get people to come and find their way to your business. Maybe it'd be a good idea to make a green business blip pop up whenever an employee or owner used the /openbusiness command. This just lets people know where businesses are opened without putting out an advertisement or giving the blip a name. This still gives a beneficial perk to the people who have donated. It'd work just how the green gas-station blips pop up whenever an employee is working a shift there. I recently lost my gold donator myself and found it/imagined that it'd be really hard to have my own business let alone work at a business whenever the owner's not around. Employees who haven't donated can't open places up themselves while some owners expect them to. Commands to add: None Items to add: None How would your suggestion improve the server? It'd not only help with places opening more often, but people will also RP having normal jobs more. Additional information: I'd like to know how other players, donator and non-donators, feel about this situation and what solutions they view as better suiting. This is my first time writing out a suggestion, so thanks for reading!

  8. "With the way the game works, every character looks like an adult, and, on face value, I'm going to take it that way. I don't always have time to /examine everyone at a scene, especially the people trying to run away from my character." I feel that it's about suspension of disbelief. It's commonly known that neighborhood lore is rare to stick around, so each faction or group tends to develop their own setting. It takes one to listen to then be heard. Someone pedaling around in South Central is definitely not an adult character. Then I guess it's about role-playing with them so they give back and role-play with you. Try it and see where it gets you. Otherwise it looks like the police is going to be defensive about what happens and so are gang role-players because they often feel police role-players disregard the setting they have. Even if you've got long guns out and a perimeter set, it's no guarantee you're not gonna be messed with. This isn't the 80s and 90s standard anymore — gangs don't operate on such a large scale that they're straight outlaws and locals don't want them there. Gangs are mainly comprised of locals, and most of them aren't even elaborately big: they're cliques, and a lot of them are volatile and wanting to affirm themselves. It's why juveniles perform such heinous and reckless acts to begin with. Police role-players need to account for that. So, give in to people's stories. I don't see the problem with them running: put it in perspective for your character, not your faction. Would your character suddenly break formation of a perimeter on whatever they're there to do (which is infinitely more important) to go take a hike after some kid on a bike in a neighborhood like that? Would your character then want to deal with the hassle of throwing him in juvi and dealing with their parents (or lack thereof)? Perhaps it's an elaborate diversion to get your character away from a scene. This is why role-play is deeper than what you grasp at face value and we, police role-players, need to listen, and to give.

  12. I personally believe that underage RP is kinda sus, but that's just me. People can roleplay anything they want as long as they fit the setting (and don't break any rules, obviously) and underage/juvie roleplay is necessary when you look at RL cliques with kids doing shit like that all the time. That being said, RPing a juvie shouldn't make you immune to the consequences of your character's actions: play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

  17. Hello! Thank you for your feedback! Some of these questions I feel I can answer. Passive role play on scenes is something we are currently aiming for right now. My supervisor team is working on improving the experience not only within the faction but the interaction with the public. So far it's going great however naturally there is areas we are still working on and we are hoping to see more people interact with us more as well. Already this week I've seen a lot more back and forth rp with suspects and community members on scene which is great to see more people are willing to rp with us more as well rather than simply force an aggressive approach. We had a fantastic scene the other day which involved a lot of negotiation skills, patience and roleplay that was much more natural, depth to the roleplay and extended a lot more avenues to progress. Something of interest to see from your point of view, though at times it can be difficult to block off nightclubs as they have a habit of being oblivious to anything going on outside. Casings can be so difficult to see, took me three times to find all of the casings on the scene the other day, however this is something that could happen in real life. Officers can miss evidence, granted not often. Training is something I feel we do well and are continuing to push more. Although no more academies, that does not mean that we don't train anymore. Our focus is now on the field training with our field training program and not with an hour of academy that really didn't teach much but more to get an idea of roleplay ability. The guys in FTP have made a fantastic course for new officers that already people who have went through the old system and are training officers in the new have said that the students are leaning a lot more. Scene management comes into the supervisor training programming that I run myself. This trains our sergeants and high level detectives within the team and we look at things like you pointed out with scene management. Then we also have Command Training for Lieutenants, as well as numerous training for different divisions depending on what they need. So platoons in metro might train in breaching, K9 in searching for suspect, officers training how to use a rifle etc. All really important to us and for some fun roleplay. We also have just introduced the new Police Training and Education Division. The division looks into educating officers in everything from pursuit and vehicle control to report writing. It's relatively new but they have made great starts and looking to start with the new Police Office Is with additional training they might want. As for applications, I'm sure someone else will chip in more with this as this isn't my area. However, we don't deny simply because someone has decided their character has a military background that's completely fine. It tend to be that people haven't researched what they are saying they have in experience. There has been a lot of cases where applications have years and years of experience, been to three wars, got themselves a degree and a high rank and then decided to join the PD all by the age of 22. There is a number of officers in the PD that have very realistic military backstories that work well for the character.

  20. This thread will document and showcase the development of my character, Anika Copeland. Anika Copeland was born in The Peach State to Thomas Copeland and Abigail Copeland. Growing up, Anika was locked inside of a basement, while her siblings and family members were abused and lashed out at; unbeknownst to her. Anika was born into a traditional family that praised the savior Jesus Almighty in their home almost daily, which was a staple to this all-american family. Anika spent most of her days locked inside the basement inside their all-american home, sometimes going days without food. She was forced to drink their iron filled tap water, and was starved to the point her body was emaciated and mostly skeletal. Due to her severe schizophrenia, that was only made worse due to her circumstances, she was considered a freak of nature by her parents, who were the cause of her schizophrenia, due to her mother; Abigail passing it down to her. Her brother and sister were not exempt from the abuse of their parents, as they would be attacked and criticized over the smallest things, and would get regular beatings and lashings. Out of the two siblings she had, her brother; Jasper was the one who she was closest with, he would sneak Anika some food here and there, and would give her regular water, instead of the iron filled water she ingested. Over the years, Anika grew worse and worse with her condition, her schizophrenia growing worse and worse as her hatred for her parents evolved. Eventually, due to her hate towards her parents, the voices themselves became increasingly violent, causing her to lash out at them if they dared to step foot in her domain, the dark basement she was trapped in. Once Anika had turned 19, she was given some money by her brother and was able to book a flight out of town. She made an escape from the basement through a small window, which she was able to fit through due to her emaciated and thin figure. Anika boarded her flight, and left for Los Santos, where she changed her name from Emelia; to Anika, to help with escaping her parents, who still hunt her to this day. Anika is now a 25 year old schizophrenic, who has found success in the big city of Los Santos, and has since seeked out medical attention, and emotional support; which has transformed her into more of a "normal" person. But truly, what is normal?

  21. could have a restriction creating younger characters through some form of request, so it can be ensured the player is actually a decent roleplayer and doesn't have an elder scroll of an admin record before they start trying to portray something like this, which i've only seen being done unrealistically

  24. That would be phenomenally awesome. Businsses names could reflect their real player named businesses rather than people naming businesses based on what's already there. If it's possible massive support. I will rename Nut Buster Kebab to Habeeb Kebab finally.
