  1. After the large success of my previous Theory of Roleplay post, I’ve decided to make it a weekly discussion. This post is regarding long term development of our characters, including traumatic events that should affect the lives of our characters’ to a greater degree, the effect that our CK’d friends should or should not have on us, and the long term effects of our decisions, our guest for this discussion needs no introduction - it is the one and only, @akari! If you’re interested in appearing on a later Theory of Roleplay, message me on either the forums or on Discord at HaveADream#4339 with your name and topic you wish to discuss. Akari is in Italics. By its very nature, activities within the server are very short term, serious injuries last no longer than a week, prison sentences are no more than an inconvenience (Soon to change!) and, just like a war-torn city, human life is cheap - but does that absolve us of our responsibilities to our greater character arcs? If you’ve been here long enough, your character will have a friend who has unfortunately passed away, now, ask yourself, would your character still think about that person, and is that reflected in your portrayal? Ultimately, everyone here is here to have fun, and spending hours of your time every day to mourn and visit a virtual grave isn’t the most enticing thing to do - you may ask; how does this enrich my experience, how does this add depth to my character and is it even worth it? I spoke to Akari to get his views on the situation. "Ultimately, I feel like everyone views their roleplay as more of a disconnected episodic adventure, rather than understanding their character as a three dimensional, breathing person with complex thought processes and, most importantly, a long-term memory. Massive changes in your character’s life should have an emotional impact on them, and in the case of someone else’s CK - more specifically, the death of someone who was close to your character, the impact should last longer than “____ is dead so my character is going to feel bad for the next two days and then they’ll be fine.” "For example, my gal Akari was very close to Teya Garcia, a girl who had gotten herself roped up into a whole lot of drug and hostage-related nonsense up in Sandy Shores. While she did try her best to rescue Teya from that life - getting her a ride back to LS, giving her a place to stay, checking her in to rehab and keeping tabs on her during recovery, etc - she was eventually found and murdered, which ended up fucking Akari up hardcore - not only is she trying to cope with the loss of a dear friend/vague love interest, but she’s also been left in a state of constant paranoia, is generally left watching her back at every turn, and has a strong aversion to Sandy Shores/north SA altogether. So not only has this death affected her on a personal level, but interpersonally as well, as it completely altered the way she interacts with characters of certain personalities and backgrounds." On the flipside, we can talk about the effect CKing (or even PKing) somebody else can have on your character. I’ve seen dozens of people try to RP ruthless hotheads, but we have to take a minute to draw ourselves away from the cinematic experience we picture this server as, and instead, look at real-world examples - most serial killers are driven by psycho/sociopathic tendencies. While it’s happened before, it’s VERY rare that someone of sound mental state resorts to murdering someone to solve a problem, let alone anyone who might inconvenience them. It’s even less likely for a character of sound mental state to walk out of that situation completely unphased and continue their lives as if nothing happened. If you’d like to use the excuse that your character is mentally unstable and therefore unphased by fatally injuring another person, then you’re by all means allowed to do so - but then you have to ask yourself, what are you roleplaying outside of this specific incident that helps support that particular aspect of them as a person? Death is not the only long term consequence of the crazy world we thrust our characters in, most certainly. The role of addiction is a big one that I’ve seen represented quite well, with many characters being spotted hunting down clubs for the next big fix of their drug of choice, but what happens if your character doesn’t get their fix - do they shake, do they get aggressive? Research is a big part of portraying a realistic character, and addictions can become a very big part of the development of your character, while medical roleplay is severely lacking in this regard, the role of third-party doctors are becoming more prevalent. For example, your character spends their days and nights off their rocker with the closest white substance they can find, but if they eventually decided to give up, what would they do? Would they fall back into their old patterns or seek help, will they be pushed into their lifestyle of sin by those closest to them? As I’m pretty sure a decent chunk of people know OOCly, and a few know ICly, Akari struggles with mild prescription drug abuse, after breaking a bone whilst dealing with a few other stressful factors in her storyline on the side. While she’s acknowledged that this is a problem and doesn’t particularly like this fact about herself, she hasn’t made any real effort to stop, and it’s worsened enough that her body has become fairly used to the dosage and she’s generally pretty functional while high. I’ve been trying my best to RP this out cover to cover - she’ll excuse herself from situations early if she hasn’t had a dose in a decent amount of time, she generally avoids alcohol if she’s taken any recently, and she’ll start showing physical symptoms and increased irritability if she’s been going long enough without (Apologies to everyone that has had to deal with my eye-scratching and dilated pupil RP) Meanwhile, I used to RP with someone whose character would snort lines of coke on the nightly and would suffer no lasting effects. Though I will give props to the fact they actually used the scripted item, I had not once seen them RP out any physical symptoms of long-term abuse, or any sort of withdrawal if they hadn’t used in a while. My personal opinion is that if you want to give your character any sort of addiction, you need to make sure it’s burdening all facets of their life, and not just popping in and out where you see convenient. Also use the items, for god sake. To me, long term development has a major role in how your character actively interacts with the world around them, I’ve been in situations where I have not been happy with my characters actions due to both the backstory I’ve enriched them with, or the events that have unfolded since their stay in Los Santos began as I've felt it hasn't properly mirrored what my character should have done. To counteract this, I tend to keep a copy of my characters ‘story so far’ open, which I do update after a significant change in their development. Speaking to Akari, it was obvious that long term developments are sometimes forgotten or disregarded altogether, eventually becoming a footnote in the biography of their lives. A thing I’ve had people question me about is how Akari tends to view other characters, including vividly retaining her viewpoint of them for weeks or months on end. But if you think about it, how many people in your life have given you strong first impressions, even if you haven’t really talked to them much on a personal level? Now take into account your character’s personality - are they one to hold a grudge or are they lenient with their second chances? Are they reclusive or open about their feelings? Are they a cynic or do they try to see the good in people? If someone gives you shit on your first meeting, you’re likely to keep a bad taste in your mouth. Likewise, if a stranger is nice to you, you’ll probably think of them fondly. Your character should be doing the same - if they’re petty, beef shouldn’t be squashed just because it happened longer than two weeks ago! Of course, you are most certainly free to develop your character and their willpower to resist these changes in whatever way you wish. It is so understandable to accept that you occasionally follow a path for your character to then want to change it entirely, I’ve done it, Akari has, and I’m sure the vast majority of us have - our characters are dynamic representations written as two-dimensional collections of words, but whether your character responds to the past or prefers to bury it? That’s up to you. Trauma, long term development and commitment is a way to enrich your experience and enrich the character you represent, as well as pulling them further away from yourself and establishing their own identity, far from your own. To me, long term development is a tool to build your character, and in the pursuit of realistic portrayal, it’s important we self-reflect on the paths we have to lead our characters and decide the way forward in a believable matter, your characters' past could define their actions today, and nothing stops that past from forming a major role in the life of your character. Thanks for reading, let me know your thoughts.

  2. This has been a slow year and a half progression that's brought us to where we are now. Not many people know about our early roots. Appreciate your kind words!

  4. Short description: Fishing rods and bait to be added to the fishing job Detailed description: You would need a fishing rod and a bait to go fishing as just showing up to a location and a magical fishing rod appearing in your hands is quite unrealistic in my opinion. Commands to add: /buyrod, /buybait Items to add: Fishing rod and fishing bait How would your suggestion improve the server? It would add an aspect of realism that is definitely needed as a lot of people that play on the server rely on fishing to get money for roleplay. Additional information: Not needed

  6. First off, everything was well done, loved the read. But to be honest, the only thing that really needed to be said through the whole thing and still get your point across? Right here. Roleplay servers, in general, are set up as a fallacy for most to be long term platforms for the majority of players simply due to mechanics. Cops on the server who've been in the department for a long period of time have a body count of 30+ people. Paramedics and firemen have seen more dead bodies than most people could ever imagine. There is enough gang violence happening to probably warrant the National Guard showing up. Gangsters are getting shot at by each other and the cops so frequent enough you'd think the hood was actually Fallujah. However, as you've kind of hit, it's all about the person behind the character. The one who wants to tell a story. Sadly, most "want to tell a story" when it's convenient to them, and don't when it's not. This goes down to people not really wanting to take a loss that is detrimental at all. And instead of going back to the drawing board when the character fails, they force it. These places are bred for characters to take every death and life changing event with a grain of salt. Whether it be because they watched Gangland and someone being interviewed said that's what they gangsters do, or they see interviews with cops more or less saying the same thing. Cool. Got it. I've played both legal characters and illegal characters on this server. For them to not be shaking messes from the stuff that goes on here, you almost have to have them pre-exposed to this sort of chaos and violence in their back story. My character, good guy Brody Chapman has a severe amount of PTSD from being deployed. He has a hard time relating to most people around him because they haven't lived that life and is generally on an IC level by his peers probably thought to be kind of a standoffish asshole because of it. Little do they know I made him that way so when I see some of these other characters that are played like hot garbage, when he says nothing and is generally speechless, it's because I'm banging my head against the keyboard. I could diatribe about how it's pretty bad with both legal and illegal characters on here, but honestly, I think I'd just be wasting my time writing it all out for someone to be like "Nuh uh, because, in this one event, I had my character cry for a day about X, Y, and Z." which is fine. You do you. But that doesn't necessarily make it right. And that goes for people on both sides of the law. Cops are basically professional gunfighters by either circumstance or choice, and gangsters are banging sunup to sundown with nothing in between. I'll conclude this by saying that there are some fantastic players on both sides. Yes, this is true. But the one hidden gem in a sea of mediocrity or even downright poor character portrayal drags it all down. If you are a hidden gem out there? Keep doing what you're doing. I'm glad you're there. Problem is, everyone thinks they're that elite level roleplayer, even when they're not. I'm not. I know I'm not. But I always strive to be.

  7. It's not allowed at all. It's powergaming and metagaming. You can't give such an exact description in a short amount of time. Any player receiving that description would then use a player's name tag to identity them. There is plenty of customization options available which gives no excuse for anyone to describe another character in such a way. If a player has decided to not use the /attributes command to describe their character, there is nothing against asking in a /do for any features not shown by their character model such as their height and build.

  8. I don't see any problem with offering under the starting price, I've seen many property owners that sold their properties for less than their starting price. I just offered my price for it... You can ignore it if you're not interested...

  9. Itsuki “Suki” Fukuhara, born on 18th of August 1999 in Osaka, Japan. Son of a construction worker while his mother is a nurse. Itsuki’s family wasn’t wealthy but still managed to live a normal life. Kousuke Ueno, born on 14th of May 1999 in Osaka, Japan. Son of a mechanic while his mother is a house-wife. Kousuke’s family wasn’t doing well as Itsuki’s but they managed as well to live a decent life. Backstory Itsuki’s early interaction with Kousuke consists of his dad paying frequent visits to the neighbouring garage, Ueno’s, for minor repairs in his stock unstable Warrener. As time passes, and after the 4th-5th visit the acquaintanceship between Itsuki’s dad and Kousuke’s dad promotes as they agree on allowing Itsuki’s father to drop Kousuke home as well while bringing his son home after school. Itsuki pursued his studies at the Osaka International School, with his close friend Ueno, Kousuke. Kousuke was the type of character to find car enthusiasts in school and spark up discussions about cars, especially of the JDM culture, as Itsuki wouldn’t fill the contentment Kousuke has from enjoying it. Itsuki wanted to blend in with the conversation but ends up making a Kousuke a victim of his bullying publicly, causing issues to their friendship. Itsuki’s regression of losing Kousuke as his friend lead to his lack in his studies and focus more into studying about vehicles with the intention of enjoying a conversation out of mutual interest. As more as Itsuki began studying the Japanese car culture, his interests and passions in the field flourish to expand across the JDM car culture. Being fit enough, engages in conversation with Kousuke with an attempt to mend the friendship they once had. Kousuke seeming to be convinced, introduced Itsuki to the scene by having him take his dad’s Warrener to visit a car show being hosted at about 11 PM and watch The Kanjozoku, Osaka’s infamous group of racers. Without hesitation, Itsuki agrees to it and does so as told, takes the Corolla after patiently waiting for his parents to fall asleep and makes his way towards the location pre-discussed. The day goes well, Itsuki and Kousuke seem to be having their attention drawn and fixated on the uniquely JDM modified cars ranging from Blista’s with K20 engine swaps with AEM EMS Standalone engine-management systems by The Kanjozoku’s influence, to Jester’s with 3.2L C32B engines. The trip was taken through the Kanjo with multiple other vehicles, Itsuki intentionally tries to keep up with the group in his dad’s rusty Warrener while Kousuke’s seated as a passenger. Not after driving long, shifting to the fifth gear at 7,000 RPM(Redline) spat out an audible knock from the engine. The engine was blown as the valve was closing and the pistons were rising faster than normal, colliding into each other. Kousuke calling his father to the Kanjo after a couple of hours contemplating, towed the car back to their garage, dropping Itsuki on the way home. Days pass by silently, Itsuki walking to school while his father taking the bus to work – Completely disappointed of Itsuki’s actions, the Warrener needed a new engine to replace the blown one. Months later, it was later replaced with a reconditioned 1496 cc 5K-J engine. Itsuki let Kousuke know how much of a disappointment he became to his family and didn’t want to get involved with the scene again, focusing on his studies more and became an exemplary student till graduation. After the graduation, the duo decided to study at the same institute for the University of San Andreas, Los Santos degree, but in two separate fields. Itsuki focused more into the programming field, obtain the Bachelor’s of Engineering, Software Engineering degree while Kousuke focused on the Bachelor’s of Engineering, Automotive Engineering degree to expand his knowledge, receive the much-needed exposure from working at his dad’s garage with him – following the passion he has for cars. After completing two years of their degree at the institute, they’re required to complete the final year at ULSA in Richman, Los Santos. With the support from the Institute of a 49 percent scholarship to ULSA, their parents invested their savings and obtained loans from the bank to cover up the rest of the funds. Itsuki’s uncle, a hardware store owner called in the duo to LS and settle at an apartment of his in Little Seoul. The story continues..

  11. Short description: Force someone to write their attributes after creating a character. Teach them how the /attributes and /examine commands work via text or CEF. Detailed description: I've seen numerous PSA's in the guides section teaching people how to use both /attributes and /examine, as many don't seem to know they exist. I think a good way to fix this would be to force players to write their /attributes after they finish creating their character. Along with this, I think the commands should be displayed in the top left corner or via a CEF box after a player has inputted them for the first time, with text such as "If you'd like to change your attributes in future, type /attributes. To examine other people, use /examine." Commands to add: N/A Items to add: N/A How would your suggestion improve the server? It'd improve an already useful system and stop confusion amongst players. It would set a standard for character descriptions. Additional information: N/A

  12. History The Bloods gang was formed initially to go against the influence of the Crips in Los Angeles. The rivalry dates back to the 1960s when Dedrick Reynolds and several other Crips confronted Pierre and Khalil Homan, students at P.R.I.D.E. High School in Los Santos, San Andreas. In response to the attack, Rob, who lived in Chamberlain, established the Piru street-gang, the first "Bloods" street gang. Homan established the West Piru street-gang. The Bloods street-gang was initially formed to provide members protection from the Crips. Many of the non-Crip street-gangs used to call one another "blood". On June 17, 1972, shortly after a concert 20 youths belonging to the Crips attacked and robbed Eric Garnett Jr. outside of Vinewood Palladium. Garnett was beaten to death after he refused to give up his Air Jordans. The sensational media coverage of the crime and the continued assaults by the Crips increased their notoriety. Several non-Crips gangs formed during this period were no match for the Crips and they became concerned with the escalating Crip attacks. The Pirus, Black P. Stones, Lynne Park Boys and other gangs not aligned with the Crips often clashed with the Crips. On August 12, 1972, three months after Garnett's murder, LaTrae "Gator" Garret was murdered by a Westside Crip. This marked the first Crips murder against another gang member and motivated non-Crip street-gangs to align with each other. The Brims struck back on September 9, 1972, by murdering John Wright, an original Westside Crip. By late 1972, the Pirus held a meeting in their neighborhood to discuss growing Crips pressure and intimidation. Several gangs that felt victimized by the Crips joined the Piru Street Boys to create a new federation of non-Crips neighborhoods. This alliance would transform into the "Bloods". The Pirus are therefore considered to be the original founders of the Bloods. By 1978, there were 15 Bloods sets. Crips still outnumbered Bloods 3 to 1. In order to assert their power, the Bloods became increasingly violent. During the 1980s, Bloods began distributing crack cocaine in Los Angeles. Blood membership soon rose dramatically as did the number of states in which they were present. These increases were primarily driven by profits from crack cocaine distribution. The huge profits allowed members to relocate in other cities and states. cited from LS Gangs Wiki NHB Origin The Rollin 20's NeighborHood Bloods (R20NHB) falls under the Rollin, and NeighborHood card in the infamous Blood and Crip gangs of Los Santos, these gangs are primarily African American street gangs. The Davis Ave set which originated in the early 1970's rose from a neighborhood of poverty, around the Southside of Los Santos. As the population in the city began to increase around the Davis and Strawberry area, a small gang began to form initially started by a group of individuals just looking to make some easy money and get on their feet as they moved into the city. It started off with the group digging into the city after putting their money together to buy some resources and make a possible money flip, and hoping to make some profit and double their investments. As time went by the group began to multiply and create chances and changes for others putting money in their pockets. The numbers in the area began to turn into something much bigger than a group of individuals and the blood gang began to form. As more and more gangs appeared around the city of Los Santos, the number of fatalities increased due to rivalries and territory. The chances of job opportunities were already slim for minorities to begin with due to the fact that a lot of people lacked education. Which meant that it was hard to get a job and many people would look towards the streets to make some money. This became a problem on the of Southside of Los Santos because as more people became affiliated with gangs they were becoming a product to their environment. More and more fatalities would happen as gang members fight over territory as long as they were getting money the crime never stopped. These gang members identified themselves by where they came from and family upbringing, and also a way of speaking amongst themselves and others in their neighborhood. High tensions in the South LS area have caused an increase in drug crime and violence such as fights, stabbings and, shootings, robberies and more. The population on the South Los Santos is starting to increase dramatically, and so is gang crime/violence due to the friction of gang activity from the different ethnic groups. Present Day Now in 2019 the new era of Rollin 20's Neighborhood Bloods took over Brogue and Carson Avenue, in Davis and now reside in the low income housing in that area, they've been looked down upon and overlooked as time went on and aren't the most powerful set of Bloods that are still present. They have several sponsors some from San Fierro and Las Venturas, also in Los Santos. Many of those are other blood sets like Black P Stones , Fruit Town Brims , as well as Outlaw 20s Bloods, these sponsors have a higher rank in the "bloods" sets and are dominant over the R20NHB. This is because they reside under the Rollin and Neighborhood car which makes them less known due to their bigger rival Rollin 60s Neighborhood Crips and other Crips under the same car as them. New Rollin NeighborHood Bloods (RNHB) have many sets and are led by several old heads as they say, but some don't and instead prove their hierarchy by selling drugs, tricking off women robberies and crime. Any way of making money legal or illegal and that benefits their gang proves them from other gangs in Los Santos. More and more members are being initiated to the Davis Ave set, this has been causing many problems in their neighborhood due to this more attention has been drawn to them from rivals and local law-enforcement. They have many rivals and allies some of which rivals being the : Rollin 20s Neighborhood Crips , Rollin 30s Harlem Crips , Rollin 40s Crips, 18th Street Gang, and West Blvd Crips. Rollin O's The Rollin 20's Outlaw Bloods, other known as Rollin O's , Eastside Rollin 20's Outlaw Bloods, or Outlaw 20's Blood Gang is another set affiliated with the infamous African American, Rollin 20's Neighborhood Bloods (R20NHB). Their neighborhood stretches from 20th Street and Brogue Avenue to Covenant. Brogue Ave being where the former R20NHBs were located and now Covenant Avenue being the current Rollin O's residence. The crime rate boomed, and many of the Brogue Avenue, Rollin 20's Neighborhood Bloods members were incarcerated due to an influx in the areas population which brought LSPD's attention and the court of Los Santos cited a gang injunction to the set which seized all of their illegal possessions, and also threw alot of their members into prison for multiple felony sentences. Once released many former members relocated to Covenant to ally with the Rollin O's and grow even stronger, and return to their street ties. With more members the area has become a "hotspot" for gang activity and has brought the attention of other gangs and the local police enforcement. They also have many allies and rivals similar to the R20NHB such as : BloodStone Pirus, BloodStone Villains - 43 Gangster Crips, Avalon Gangster Crips, Broadway Gangster Crips, and the East Side Trece. OOC Information We aim to portray a realistic blood street gang set, mainly showcasing the brutal lifestyle in which the gang members and those around them indulge themselves. Joining this faction will not be easy, as we want people who really like to indulge themselves in actually developing certain characters that revolve around the street gang. We don't want people joining for the sole reason of "hey we're here to shoot and beef other opposing street gang factions". This goes against everything we're for. All of our recruitment is done completely in character and we mainly rp around Strawberry Ave, as that is the main basing point of the set. All of our members or individuals that roleplay around us are expected to strictly follow the server rules. If you fail to do so and you're not commiting to actually provide "quality" roleplay, you will be removed. New members in this faction must be able to RP up to our standards and we set the bar pretty high as we would like to keep roleplay as realistic as possible. No matter what the case is keep matters IC and handle everything maturely, when boredom strikes reach out to other members and try to create realistic roleplay. If you have any questions please feel free to contact either Me or @Duffle through PM and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

  13. (W/S) ROLLIN' 60's NEIGHBORHOOD CRIPS Info Rollin 60's Neighborhood Crips is an African-American crip street gang located on the West Side of South Los Santos. The Rollin' 60' NHC originated as a clique of Stanley "Tookie" Williams gang; 'The Westside Crips' in the 1970s. The territory stretches from the houses in the Strawberry side of Forum Drive over to the Projects in the Chamberlain Hills side before Carson Ave. The R60NHC are also under the Rollin O's and Neighborhood Crips umbrella. History R60NHC/RSC are the first gang to use the term “Rollin” and were involved in the first Crip-on-Crip rivalry when in 1979, the R60NHC and Eight Tray Gangster Crips (ETG) began a feud that has lasted over 3 decades with about 60 deaths among the two gangs with nearly a hundred innocent bystanders, making this rivalry the most deadly two-gang conflict in Los Santos' history, but the rivalry has calmed down during the first decade of the 2000s as crime dropped throughout the city. For many years, their main rival to the east are the ETGs. This would be the most intense rivalry between any two individual Crip gangs in all of Los Santos in the history of street gangs conflict during the 1980s. Although there are longer rivalries among other Los Santos gangs, such as the one between the White Fence and El Hoyo Maravilla, which goes back to about the 1920s, the conflict between R60NHC and ETG has been more violent, especially during the period between 1980 and 1995. The rivalry between RSC and ETG rivalry started Crip infighting which created a divide between Neighborhood Crips and Gangster Crips also known as Trays. Other rivals to the Rollin 60s include; Black P Stone Nation to their South East, W/S Forum Drive Hustler Crip to their South West and Rollin 50s Neighborhood Bloods whom are neighbouring RSC on Forum Drive. Present Day In the year of 2019, gang crime still blazes on in South Central and many young men have died as a result of it. A turf feud for Forum Drive had sparked a gang war between Barrio Azteca and RSC which resulted in RSC keeping their territory in Forum Drive however had also resulted in the death of a RSC member known as 'JD'. Shortly after the death of 'JD', a long war between Black P Stone Nation(Circle Stones) was sparked resulting in the death of 3 young black males from the Circle Stones; Shaquon Banks, Trey Carter and 'TJ' and 1 black male from RSC known as 'MACE'. To this day RSC still hold down their territory in Strawberry despite provocations from their rivals. OOC ((If you are hoping to get affiliated in game, your character should be a POOR African-American teenager preferably under the age of 16 that has been raised in the Chamberlain Hills Projects. If your story involves your character recently moving into LS then your chances of getting accepted by others is extremely low. Upon association, you will grant us CK rights on your character which means your character can be killed at anytime if the reason is valid. We try to keep an accurate portrayal of the real life counterpart however it is extremely difficult as this is just roleplay, if you have any advice then please send a PM to @aldo. Residents are also highly encouraged as we there is barbershop in the middle of the neighbourhood which was made to encourage residential RP.)) If you are interested in getting involved, please send me a forum PM.

  14. I first want to apologize about this messy release. It was the most tested update as we left opened the test server for 2 months and had multiple testing sessions, however it seems that it wasn't enough. We had to face multiple days of issues, from lags to crashes, and a save corruption that led us to rollback everyone's character of few hours today. I take the entire blame for this technical failure, and things should now be more stable. We still need to re-enable tattoos visibility, and fix some small trucking bugs, but you should be able to play without much issues starting from today. I'll be modifying our patch release process to prevent this from happening in the future, and we will most likely now work from small version to small version, each version including one feature and one only. The major versions (1.7, 1.8) will be incremented once all these smaller patches are released and we feel like we finished an important step. So what does this mean? Our next updates will be 1.6.1, 1.6.2 which will for example includes chat groups for 1.6.1, forensic for 1.6.2.. And 1.7 the server will be renamed to 1.7 when we feel that we've released enough updates for 1.6.X. Working on smaller updates but quicker releases (one every week or two weeks instead of one every 3 months) will allow us to not repeat these 3-4 days of unstability that you all experienced, and thus improve the overall server stability.

  15. I'm not placing the blame squarely on them as robocops. However, some are MUCH MORE than others and play their characters like killing is just a part of their daily life. And I'm not saying every time they pull the trigger they need to cry in the corner. Especially when the person they shoot is just mad about it and immediately disconnects or whatever. I get it. But if it's a serious situation, a little bit of reflection after isn't too much to ask I don't think. The cop allergy thing irks me on a personal level. I was just having a conversation with someone who is a PD main player. The person who doesn't bother to do any research on things that they're doing with their character, but can quote penal code down to the subsection is WILDLY obnoxious. And ridiculous. Everyone who is playing a street lawyer but can't differentiate what beer on draft and in the bottle when they're a "bartender" should honestly be punished for it. It's dumb. Honestly, this depends on where you are in the United States, to be honest. And it's a matter of state politics and the general attitude of the population. Usually, in California, you're not going to find very many people with a CCW in the city. It's a very convoluted process to get one and for the most part the metropolitan cities don't allow them. However, if you're in a place say like Florida, a fairly common thing for people have a CCW and a gun. And I live in near a very big metropolitan city. And I know some people that I could call and they could probably get me just about any drug I was looking for within reason. But a gun? That would probably take some doing. The difference between RP servers and real life is, nobody is the end user of contraband products. Everyone wants to be a hustler. Buy a gun for $10,000? Time to sell it for $15,000. Same with drugs. That's not to say people don't do the drugs. But are they doing it because they're an addict? Or that sweet coke health right before a gunfight? I think it's a valid question that could probably do with some exploration.

  17. 0/10 edited my all lowercase the reason long-term character development (or lack thereof) and poor portrayal strikes a particular nerve with me is because people don't realize that most of what we're doing here is writing. i didn't come here to shoot guns or drag race - first and foremost, i came here because i enjoy writing fiction and i have a story i want to tell. so when i see people go about writing their characters in a way that's grossly incongruent with the experiences they've had up to that point, it bothers me knowing it's something i or any other writer would never be able to get away with in proper, single-author prose. thank u for letting me ramble about akari isayama for 2 paragraphs

  18. This is how business works, under normal circumstances. A lot of business aren’t profitable for a long time, while expenses for starting/opening the business are recouped. They don’t want company owners getting rich in a matter of days. It’s an intended effect, I believe.

  20. Just dropping by to congratulate you boys on building up such a rich history over 7 months! ? I always appreciate our RP even if fate doesn't let us cross paths too often. It adds some nice flavour to my character's insular world, reminding me how big Los Santos really is. Y'all fill a niche in my heart. EDIT: The nice man commenting below has informed me that 2017 was not 7 months ago.

  21. I ran upon this joke of a system where apparently storage units, warehouses and pretty much any other property that is not a house is immune from /breakins. This is supposed to be a serious roleplay server that emulates real life. Explain to me, is there some kind of voodoo spell protecting those properties magically? In real life storage units are being targeted by burglars every day, by the hundreds. Not to mention warehouses. I am getting worried about the quality of roleplay found on this server. I was expecting much more, and all I found so far were limitations and nonsense rules like the 5k limit on mugging, which is ridiculous. Show me an IRL case of a robber that refused to steal more from a victim carrying maybe 200 grand in a briefcase. Not realistic. How about let people have to deal with responsabilities? Don't want to get mugged for 200k? Don't walk around with that much on you. I quote you, from your server rules page: You may use /breakin to rob any property, you're not allowed to just step in and steal items. Usage of /rent to access the inventory is forbidden and bannable. - It says any property. Take this as some constructive criticism and not as a rant of hatred, I wouldn't waste my time posting this if I didn't like the server, thanks for reading.

  22. With that logic, let’s run a scenario: You rob someone for more than $5,000. In most states, that’s considered grand theft/grand larceny. If you’re caught, are you okay serving 3+ years in jail on the server? If we’re talking about emulating real life, you want crime to be as close to real life as possible. The punishment in this case should also be as close to real life then. Right? My point being is that you can’t have your cake and eat it too. If you want crime to emulated as real life, you should be 100% prepared to serve real life punishments. I don’t think anyone wants to serve a 3 year jail sentence in a game, you included. Certain compromises are made because at the end of the day it is still a video game. It’s meant to be enjoyed. Some rules are in place to help new players adjust to role play and not get discouraged on day 1. Others are put in place to protect business owners. It can’t be black or white, there has to be some grey.

  26. This is why I want company employees or truck company contractors to be able to deliver good to businesses. Are we out of parts yeah call the hauling company or get that van over there and bring them. A complete stranger in a suit hopping out of Weazel news truck carrying out crates. That's bollocks.

  27. Maybe a different donator tier? Like 'Business tier', keep the cost lower (maybe 50wp or something) and strip out everything but additional furniture and /bad /cad ? I also think having /bad tied in to the GPS system is an issue, it means every half an hour businesses are having to advertise, even if they don't want to or need to, just to get their icon to appear on the GPS Map. This can often mean waiting in line behind other businesses just to open yours because there's a forced wait time.

  28. No, sir. I am not a foreigner, I am an American and I don't see how myself being a foreigner should be taken as a sign of disrespect nor do I know how myself being a foreigner means I am ignorant of street gangs. Street gangs are simply ideologies, each one has their own set of beliefs and in today's modern age, not everyone has to accept the ways that their past counterparts used to have belief in. Just because you see a documentary of a gang having belief in a certain thing does not mean they all represent such. You calling me a foreigner should be considered a sign of disrespect towards yourself considering I can read, write and type the English language ten times as fluently as you can (while being a foreigner, English is not their native language). I only read a few sentences of what you've just posted because I can see that you feel some type of way by my response and have compiled a bunch of nonsense from unreliable sources including a horrible example of a video even the people in the comments seem to disagree with (including members of real life gangs, I'm sure). However, if it makes you feel better, myself and my team will be halting this project permanently and continuing to work another project that does not include what we have witnessed in less than a week. Here are the following reasons for the halt; In less than a week, we have been met with constant unnecessary behavior and drama consisting of chain robberies, death match, and even metagame. We would not like to have to compete with numerous factions that do not take role play seriously at all. Factions that would rather risk their lives (dead or in prison) performing felonious criminal activities such as murder, kidnapping, armed robbery and, hit and run, are very common in Chamberlain Hills. These criminal activities should not be performed for petty reasons such as accusations as to whom has sprayed graffiti in their "territory." I won't speak of any names as I'm sure faction management is handling the situation. We don't have time to wait for faction management to prevent and find solutions to combat these horribly developed African American characters we encounter. I am only writing this for those who care and are curious as to why we're stopping this project that could have easily gone far if we put the effort into it. We have something better and less complicated in mind. Thank you all for the kind comments and responses on the thread. This can be locked and archived.

  29. That's why I still RP. Sadly doesn't happen too often, in fact since I moved to gta v RP it never happens. But those random outta nowhere fun RP situations are the best.

  30. The problem with businesses not opening is not always "i bought it had fun for 2 weeks and done" Sometimes businesses close due to roleplay reasons. For example Del Perro Pizza, i used to run the place for the previous owner and it was a "mob" owned business. It fit the roleplay and was used a lot, few months back it would open 2-3 times a week. The owner of the place was cked and he sold it to someone the new owner opened it but I guess he also changed his character and it was put up for sale. There is now a new Pizza place in Vinewood that is pretty nice and was open not too long ago. One of the biggest issues for business being inactive is the fact that only the owner can access the cash box. For example If i'm the business owner I can't hire a manager to run the business for a week or two while I might be away or focusing on another character, burn out or whatever the reason. Because without me they cannot get paid. Introducing some kind of feature that there could be a designated person that can access the cash box would help this a lot and would revive many businesses in my opinion as many people have limited time to be online so they might want to focus on roleplaying their other activities besides opening a business. I personally know quite a few people that are business owners but they are unable to open up due to ooc reasons and without giving the ability for someone to pay the employee's and all of that it's really difficult. Sadly not many people trust to come to spend 2 hours an opening three times a week and have no idea if they will get paid at the end of the week or no.

  31. I just wanted to clear this. Ring of Fire Chili House. At least the "old" one by the coast north of the Del Perro beach, is closed at the moment. Do to reconstruction. I am not the owner of the place, but I am hired to build it. (Its gonna be quite the thing). Should be done within this weekend. The owner seem very active and very hyped about opening, so I just wanted to get this off the potential list, in case it meant something.
