  1. Feature Showcase: Wildfires & Property fires Information When we at GTA:World say we want to bring interesting scenarios to the fire department, we mean it. A brand new and entirely synced fire system has been created just for you players to enjoy! Fires can be started and stopped by the administration team. Once a fire has been started all active firemen on duty will receive an alert with a sound playing and the location of the fire. It's their job to secure the perimeter and get the fire under control, as people can get fatally injured if they get too close. Each flames are synchronized between players using a homemade synchronization system that we developed! Image 01 - Example of a wildfire that spreads quickly Image 02 - Example of a wildfire being extinguished by two firemen While wildfires tends to spread quickly you'll notice that property fires will be easier to control in some cases. With wild fire and exterior property fires being the only two types of fires at the moment they can differ in which type they're being fueled by. This is randomized between being a gas and a non-gas fueled fire. Non-gas fires will spread over a wider area compared to a gas fire. Image 03 - Example of an exterior property fire being extinguished by a firetruck and a single fireman As a player, you can use /report to request an authorization to an administrator to start a fire, this administrator will observe your roleplay and authorize it or not. (If no Fire Department are online, It will obviously be denied) What's to come? Synced extinguisher / firetrucks will also be introduced with 0.4 as we asked George to add it for us, and he did! Insurance companies will also be introduced soon and are under discussion (for your properties and vehicles). Interior fires will also be introduced later, as we still need to do some additionnal work on furniture positions and fires!

  2. Norrig has left the staff team today, after being with us since the release of the server. Norrig was for many of you your favorite administrator and for once I felt like a public thank you thread was needed for all the amazing work he achieved with us and for you. He was always fully dedicated to help any of you and spend hours fixing your properties. I do hope he will be back in a near future, and I'm sure he will. However in the meantime, I'll dig up some fun stuff from last year. 1) Norrig, the only guy that was happy to be on reserved tester list 2) Norrig once wanted to be a developer. Yup, you all know the outcome. 3) Norrig, guardian of my real life sanity and making sure I'm not on GTAW discord the 31/12 4) Norrig was once banned and removed from junior developer, yup. The reason? Good luck finding out! 5) One day, norrig woke up and realized the truth Norrig, you have been an incredible person to work with all the months. More than head of property, you were a true friend during all these difficult times, which I will never forget.

  3. Name: Baashir Chakrabarti Age: 8/05/1980 - 38 years old. Nationality: Indian From: Dharavi, Mumbai, India. Baashir was born into the slums of Dharavi in Mumbai along with his four other siblings. He had a poor upbringing but managed to scrape a living selling old computer parts and driving people as a Taxi driver. His mother was from Pakistan originally with his father being of Indian origin which is a very rare occurrence and often leads to certain dualities in Baashir as he is torn between both cultures though he chooses mainly to follow his Indian heritage due to the will of his father. He eventually managed to gather enough money together to make it to new Delhi and make a family of his own with his wife and six kids. Struggling to support his family still, he chose to try his luck in America so he can support his family with American wealth, with determination to become a successful business man. Baashir could be described as a very awkward and eccentric man with a poor education but has a certain resilience and determination to him, not afraid to talk with people and get involved in things. ((OOC - Feel free to leave comments on Baashir's page of shenanigans. ))

  4. Suggestion template Short description: Disable 911s when radio is off. Detailed description: When you /togr, 911 calls should stop being received. Why, you ask? Well, they come in through dispatch, by RADIO. If there is a call that does need answering and either PD or FD don't have enough units on, we have pagers on Discord. It's quite annoying when you're trying to roleplay, off-duty without a radio on you RPly, that you still receive these calls which spam your chat. Some pictures for reference: I already suggested this once, but only half of it was done: Commands to add: Couple 911 to radio chat. Items to add: N/A How would your suggestion improve the server?: Better immersion when roleplaying off-duty. Additional information: N/A

  8. Southside Rancheros XIII is a sureño gang that stakes its claim to the east side of Rancho (South LS). It is an average sized set that consists of sub-cliques. It is a gang which has been a major power player in the area for the past 20 years although it has been called by a number of different names by its membership during those two decades of terror. It still remains active in its historical territory of Rancho with strongholds being scattered across Jamestown Street and Roy Lowenstein Boulevard. There was never any 'social club' concept in its existence. It was a criminal enterprise from the very beginning and its members have seldom shown any remorse for committing heinous crimes in the gang's name. South Side Rancho Tokers 13 was the first independent homegrown Rancho gang to surface in the area. Prior to that point, the territory was controlled by the S/C Hang Out Boyz. The Rancho Flats clique split off from HOB 13 after a number of altercations took place between Rancho Flats & the Carson Locos Clique. After a year of bloodshed, the dispute died down with Rancho coming out on top. It was during that time period that Rancho distinguished itself from other hoods when it comes to the sheer violence it was willing to use to get its clique's name out there. During this era, the gang kept itself limited to drug trafficking, small arms trafficking, and various types of theft. Homicides took place as part of territorial disputes and beefs over matters of respect. S/S RT13 had ongoing rivalries with a number of gangs across the city including Mara Salvatrucha, Davis Original Crips, HOB 13, Playboys 13, 18th Street, Clanton 14, Covenant Block Piru, Grove Street Tyrants, Latin Kings & various Crip/Blood affiliated sets. With time, the gang eventually was unrivaled in terms of power in its immediate area and these disputes ended up dying down. Despite that, homicide statistics and stick up operations remained steady. Under the Llavero Adam Nunez who went by the alias 'Hazard', the clique regularly butted heads with the LSPD. It didn't take long for gang injunctions to get thrown out alongside indictments for many prominent and not so prominent gang members in the area. With Hazard's absence, Hector Gonzales took his place on the streets as llavero but it wasn't long before he too was indicted. The amount of heat that was brought on by Hazard's antics caused La Eme to distance itself some from Rancho. Despite drug supplies being smaller this didn't impact drug trafficking in the area. A central authority was lacking however and the gang as an organization was crippled with only three key players remaining. Samuel Mosqueda 'aka Baldy' was the only shot caller remaining from the Tokeros clique and under him were two soldiers: Galena Amezquita and Miguel Solano. Barrio Rancho Nuevo Generación 13 came about not long after Rocky's incarceration. In essence, it was middle management taking advantage of the power vacuum to take over the drug distribution in South LS. Its key figures were three tokeros that got together and decided that the balance in the area wasn't going to change. They coined themselves as the new generation of the tokeros gang. Drug distribution in the area rose during this time even with only a handful of individuals taking over. Galena Amezquita had the strongest influence in that racket among the group and used it as a means to step up in the organization. She acted as llavero and increased the gang's street presence seven-fold. She decreed that stick-ups and drug dealing weren't going to be the only things that Rancho was known for. It is suspected that the gang was providing stolen cars to numerous chop shops across San Andreas. Through Baldy and Lena's connections, the gang kept its ties with several Italian organized crime figures in Los Santos. These relationships helped keep the auto thefts as a steady income. It also allowed the clique to step up its game in weapons trafficking. While many of these guns were getting sold on the streets a portion of the stock was also being used in violent crimes carried out by the group. Contract killing became an occasional service the gang offered for a price. If there was one word to describe this era's business model it'd be diversity. This diversity didn't replace Rancho's primary source of income which was drug distribution. RNG 13 had no intention of loosening the grip it had in South LS's drug trade. To fill its own pockets and regain La Eme's favor it re-implemented taxes on other drug traffickers in the area as opposed to dominating other territories. Like its predecessor however it was no stranger to hood rivalries. Nuevo Generación 13 had ongoing disputes with a gangster disciple clique that eventually came to be known as "Eighters". Aside from this disputes had occurred with numerous individuals residing in the Stevely Arms housing projects and a short-lived dispute with a group of bloods on Jamestown Street. Despite going by a different name the 'new generation' was comparably as violent as veteran tokeros. Rancho remained an area that was generally unsafe to patrol in based on the number of shootings involving police officers. It is suspected that the gang had been funneling drug money into legitimate storefronts in the area to launder money. Southside Rancheros XIII Nuevo Generación 13 was a loosely organized drug crew for much of its existence. Occasionally because of this needless bloody disputes inside the network took place. Several members from the tokero days decided that there needed to be more order in the ranks. A new era was ushered in for the gang where old traditions were being reincorporated into the gang alongside ideological pillars that were instilled to prepare them for prison life. To symbolize the transition gang members decided to take on a new name. So long as these values were enforced in the community it has the potential to more deeply embed the main clique inside Rancho to counteract the effects of law enforcement operations. It was a key issue that Galena set out on implementing to maintain stability. Her time as llavero was hallmarked with levelheaded decisions and countless killings orchestrated against perceived enemies inside the gang, against rivals and law enforcement officers. After a time she chose to step back and pass the keys over to Baldy. Alongside him, Trigger was handpicked to keep the program going smoothly and build on it more as planned. Both men were longtime members of S/S RT 13 and alongside Miguel Solano performed well as enforcers. It can only be speculated what the effects of those changes. The membership of the gang mainly consists of Mexican-Americans but it has been known to accept descendants of other Latino nations. The gang targets Latino youths that reside in the area to fill in the lower level of its drug network. Most of the veteran gang members that are still on the streets are in their early twenties and has strong ties to the Mexican Mafia given that many of its older affiliates are incarcerated. S/S Rancheros XIII makes the bulk of its profits off pedaling narcotics. On top of that, it has been involved in small-scale arms trafficking, auto theft, armed robberies, extortion, vandalism, kidnapping, assaults, and murder.

  9. That I do not have issue with, the issue I have and the reason this thread exists is the fact people come to mod the car at the mechanic shop and not Roleplay. If people who Roleplay working on their own car and upgrading it come and tell the mechanic they already did the Roleplay then I don't see an issue especially if there are screenshots / video. Thing is, some people come to garage, roleplay one upgrade but once they do the script-wise upgrade they do the full car.

  10. Like I said, more than happy to screenshot a passive roleplay of my character working on his own vehicles on my own character story post, if that's what it takes. Assuming everyone wanting to roleplay their own work is just doing it to skip rp is about as bad as assuming that all mechanics would turn down someone validly wanting to skip it because they'll do it themselves. That's the problem with making a new rule, they'll always be hypotheticals and what-ifs. It is important to address them, however. I wouldn't want the ability to use the script and RP it myself being abused, so I'm fine with having an addendum in place somehow, just double checking that the RP did in fact happen.

  11. Maybe even let people to take off mods and get paid a bit for them like turbo for some cars is like 11000$ so you could get like 1/3 of a price for removing the mod and also paying mechanic and you could turn it into car parts so you can fit them on different car much like real life shops and garages work.

  13. Having recently been working for Auto Exotic I can tell that as of now at least you'll never be waiting for 1.5 hours for a paint job and rims nor have I ever seen something like that happen (but it's not entirely out of the question). It usually took me 5 to 10 minutes, which I think is fair. An entire upgrade might have taken me anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes, depending on how engaged the customer is. I think it's perfectly reasonable to have someone stand around with you and RP for 45 minutes for something like that. Mechanics are in high demand and relatively short supply because people constantly have new cars they want to customize. Mechanics are also required to be mechanics IC. That's the thing, really: it's their IC occupation. By the standards of the server for other things and other characters' RP, I don't think we should lower the standard to "/me pimps your ride" while still enforcing that very same standard on others.

  14. Nobody forces anyone to roleplay anything they don't want. If you don't want your car tuned, then you stay out of the mechanic garages and drive it as it is. However, you cannot ask from others to not do their roleplay as they are actually having fun doing this roleplay and that is what they enjoy and wish to do. They are also being paid for that. On another hand - I had my own garage in the past and I can claim that most repairs or nodding sessions that I performed were most of the time totally different from each other and that was due to the interactions with the vehicles' owners. If you want, your roleplay will be colorful.

  15. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you aren't able to change the tires on motorcycles, or any other cars for that matter. Only the rims can be changed (and it's limited at that). Edit: Just re-read your post, sorry I need to pay attention.

  16. Let's play Devil's Advocate for a moment here, though. What sort of quality RP does forcing individuals to play out car upgrades do for the server? Is it a meaningful interaction that breathes life into the server, or is it a rote and ultimately meaningless interaction that does not serve to enhance anyone's story? I'll lend my own personal experience right now - all this has ever amounted to is mechanics repeating the same emote however many times they needed to in order to "satisfy" the requirement. Sure, some conversations took place, but these could have happened anywhere else under any other circumstances and were in no way unique to what was currently happening. The mentality of "hyper-realism, absolutely everything must be RP'd out" only ultimately serves to enhance the experience of a pretentious bystander who doesn't feel like he/she has enough of a backdrop. If you have to pull teeth to get people to RP something, can we safely assume that the general server population does not find this fun to play out? What sort of unique interaction does this bring to the table for individuals who are utterly disinterested in this avenue of play to begin with? Even the mechanics I encounter seem largely disinterested. Furthermore, there are occasionally far too many people in a queue when a single garage opens near peak hours, and I'm sorry if it offends anyone's sensibilities that "waiting in line" RP is not my thing. What happens in real life when you bring your car in for maintenance? Personally, I screw off and do something else for a few hours. Cut out the tedium we have far too much of on the server already and let people do what they want; if we want to force this, it's a slippery slope to forcing establishments to hire a doorman to collect the fee for establishments - then forcing them to report that income - then forcing the gov't faction to manually give out the gov't business bonus to qualifying businesses. None of this sounds remotely fun.

  18. The sorts of behavior you see from people with regards to this sort of thing are just a symptom of a broader issue - that is, how police-criminal interaction is handled in general. It may not be realistic behavior, but we could take the idea of realism to its logical extreme - in real life, there is only one officer per 227 citizens, on average. In real life, the clearance rate for robberies and burglaries sits at about 10-12% - that is, the perpetrators are caught about 10-12% of the time. Is that reflected in the rate of capture of individuals who, say, rob a 24/7? Of course not. I'd wager that the clearance rate for robberies on the server is more like 75-90%. However, this doesn't mean that police should let criminals go to adhere to some arbitrary sense of realism. We shouldn't force one officer to police 227 players due to those numbers, either - because both of these would be decidedly unfun. The answer is not to tell players "okay, you can't take a street bike offroading ever" but rather to provide positive incentives for them not to do this. I've stated before that being jailed is just as much an OOC punishment as an IC one, and if we could remove that first aspect, I'm positive we'd see behavior like this start to phase itself out. Make being jailed an enjoyable (or at least, not a terrible) experience OOCly - I'm of the opinion that communal jails could be a good step towards solving this.

  19. Little Seoul, Los Santos Little Seoul is a Korean-influenced neighborhood within the city of Los Santos. It is a highly diverse, dense and working-class enclave with a sizable Korean minority and has a far higher proportion of foreign-born residents than the average Los Santos County district. The neighborhood is characterized by small, local businesses which commonly have English and Hangeul names, as well as the dense apartment blocks that the majority of residents reside in, the largest of which is the thirteen-story tall Dream Tower. The district is distinct from many American Koreatowns due to the coexistence of commercial and residential life and demographic change in recent decades. Although the name suggests Little Seoul is a traditional ethnic enclave, there are a variety of ethnic and cultural minorities in the neighborhood with the Hispanic population now being a larger minority group than the Koreans themselves. In spite of this, the area remains culturally Korean with Korean businesses and traditions, such as food, remaining predominant. Korean culture within Little Seoul has began to draw from and blend with other cultures and groups, most notably Hispanic culture, with cuisine such as ‘Korean-Mexican fusion’ and lowrider culture becoming increasingly adopted within modern day Korean-American society. History Korea’s self-imposed isolation was brought to an end by the United States-Korea Treaty of 1882. The resulting diplomatic relations between both the United States and Korea enabled the start of Korean migration to the United States. Koreans travelled to the US in several major stages, the earliest of these was between 1903 and 1905 to newly annexed islands of Hawaii to replace striking Japanese labourers. Of the 7,226 Koreans who were drafted into labouring roles in Hawaii, approximately 2,000 later migrated to the West Coast. This wave ended in 1905 as a result of the Japanese occupation of Korea. Migration largely ceased until the second wave brought about by the Korean War which resulted in approximately 14,000 Koreans, many of whom were war orphans, wives, or relatives of American servicemen migrating to the United States. The third wave of Korean migration to the United States occurred as a result of the 1965 Immigration Act which ended the national quota system, which previously disincentivised Korean migration. The impact of the third wave of migrants was far more profound than previous waves in terms of background and numbers of migrants. The third wave of migrants were much more middle-class than previous migrants, consisting of mostly college educated Koreans hoping to make a lateral transition into American society. Upon arriving in the US, Koreans without medical or engineering degrees found such a transition difficult, resulting in many to become store owners and merchants. As a consequence, Little Seoul business owners were predominantly Koreans who either migrated or descended from Korean migrants, a predominance which remains to this day. It was during this time in the 1970s that Little Seoul became a distinct urban district as the third wave of Korean immigrants built upon a small Korean enclave within an underserved area produced by racial and economic segregation earlier in the twentieth century. Los Santos Civil Unrest In 1992, four police officers were acquitted for their use of excessive force and violent beating of an African American taxi driver during his arrest for speeding. Footage of the beating was taken from a resident’s nearby balcony and sent to a local news station, which fast became a worldwide topic covered by news outlets all over the globe. In the footage, officers could be seen participating in a prolonged beating of the suspect as he lay down on the floor beside his vehicle. In the resulting trial, the jury acquitted all four officers of assault, much to the astonishment and outrage of the local population. Soon afterwards, crowds began to fill the streets in protest of the result of the trial, which were met by an outnumbered and unprepared police force. A series of incidents between protesters and police resulted in violence breaking out, and by the end of the 29th of April, a riot had begun. Hide contents The riots continued for six days until order was restored, by which time, much of the surrounding area had been looted, vandalised and destroyed causing several hundred million dollars worth of damage. Many Korean Americans refer to the events as ‘Sa-l-Gu’, which means “four-two-nine”, referring to the date the riots in the area started. The Korean community were significantly impacted by the riots as law enforcement opted to defend more affluent areas and abandoned many other businesses to the looters. Koreans sought to defend their businesses, communities and livelihoods resulting in numerous dramatic scenes of armed Koreans patrolling on the ground and rooftops. In spite of these efforts, just under half of the businesses destroyed during the riots were Korean-owned and only a quarter of Korean businesses survived the riots and the immediate aftermath. Hide contents The impact of the riots were profound on the community, changing how Koreans saw their relationship with America, their community and each other. Korean solidarity was increased while attempt to bridge the divide with other communities were undertaken and over time a deep connection between Koreans-Americans and Hispanic Americans was built up. The area was redeveloped, rebuilt and is stronger than ever. The area was redeveloped, rebuilt and is stronger than ever, and although it still suffers from socio-economic problems, it is a vibrant and multicultural centre for Koreans and other minorities alike. OOC This community attempts to emulate Los Angeles’ Koreatown and will largely feature community-based roleplay, centred around many locations and Korean-owned businesses in the Little Seoul area. There are no race/nationality restrictions in place, as the real life equivalent of Little Seoul is a melting pot of many different races and cultures. However, we encourage you to research the groups of people that predominantly exist in the Koreatown LA to ensure you have an accurate understanding of the lifestyles and culture Little Seoul may have. Characters of all ages are welcome. We advise you to PM one of the leaders (@Atiku, @Morning, and @Pascal) before joining this community. Whilst we cannot control who roleplays in the Little Seoul area, if you wish to RP with the community and be affiliated with us as a group you will need to to speak to us to both ensure you can provide a fitting character/roleplay for the area or to provide advice if you need it. We encourage all those who join to send us their character concept so we can provide feedback and ensure it has a reasonable amount of depth to it. With that in mind, we are willing to accept players who may be inexperienced with this type of roleplay, so long as you can provide a good attitude and willingness to learn. Unless you have been approved by one of the three leaders, you must request permission to post screenshots on this thread. Whilst highly unlikely due to the civilian nature of this community, we reserve the right to CK you in the extreme circumstance it may come down to that. CKs will (hopefully) be very rare and will mainly be applied against carelessly designed characters who are poorly/recklessly portrayed, i.e. a generic badass character who terrorises the community in a poorly roleplayed way continuously. We may also choose to apply a CK if your character gets jailed for a considerable (i.e. felony) offence. 21. Maybe when this suggestion was made this was an issue. I remember patrolling on that mountain, looking for people mining without a license and there were lots of people, at least 6 there and 6 people refining at any time during the day, maybe 3 at points. This is hardly a thing anymore, I've seen around 2-3 people mining and refining per total and they're usually the same. Pros: • The 2-3 people who are currently constantly mining would either quit the server or do something else. • More role play scenarios may become possible but looking at the numbers that's hardly going to be visible. Cons: • The job would become like the Brewer job, which was profitable at first but was totally destroyed afterwards. Whoever does it now is doing it for the role play, not the money. • Scripted jobs exist for a reason, on every single server. Removing them would cause a huge imbalance, nerfing them will do the same. • I, for example, am usually online when there are 30-40 people and sometimes at peak hours. There's no • Starting a company is extremely hard. I've tried it many times and always failed. The same goes for most people. I don't have the time to focus solely on a video game and most people don't. There are very few companies compared to the total number of players. If that was to become the only way of making money most people would be poor, and why would anyone portray a poor character when they can do that in real life. You role play to become someone you would most likely not become in real life or that you would have to work hard to become (in case of rich people), no one would even play here. • Selling to other people and basically role playing with other people is extremely hard as it is. You'd have to pay more for ads and publicity just to be able to get one possible seller and when you do you'd be losing money instead of winning. • You have to spend around 9 hours from what I understand to make 60k, 90k with bonus. 9 hours + time if anything else happens as in you crash your vehicle, something pops up, you have to go OOCly, you take a break. That's barely 10k an hour for working, not idling. Remove that and people would have to work for around 10 hours to get around 50k-60k. 5k per hour is ridiculous and no one would do it. • Most (big) companies that are a thing now were started by people with money made from my farming. Remove 'farming' and you remove the possibilities of many future companies, since very very few people will go online to work for 1k an hour, then 2k an hour and so on for hundreds or thousands of hours until they have the money to start a company. The purpose of this server should be to act as a way to relax and spend your free time, not replace your life or job. That would also mean that unless you plan on either moving your life online or spending years online you would have no way of getting a sports car or becoming rich (if that's your goal). • Most 'rich' people have gathered either a big part or most of their money by farming. Literally making this not worth it will be really unfair to people who are joining. I've seen this on many (most smaller) servers that had a way of making money that was worth it (okay, mining here takes more time and is harder to do but still) and they removed it at some point so new players just lost motivation seeing what others had. What would really work, however, is finding and working on a way (or more ways, preferably) to make selling to other players (or interacting with them) way more profitable and that is how you'll get people do stop farming by themselves. Also, this should be done for all jobs (or most of them) so there's some stability. Removing the bonus or the job itself, nerfing it and so on will fix nothing but get you a bunch of people either quit or keep doing it even more to compensate, besides being angry. It's like saying that prices are too high so you cut a 0 from everything. The method to be used should be something outside the box like what I suggested or similar.
